Greene’s lose cannon comments have caused the party some problems requiring their leaders to put distance between them and her….
The top three House Republican leaders on Tuesday condemned Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for repeatedly equating COVID-19 vaccination and mask-wearing rules to the Holocaust, the murder of 6 million Jews during World War II.
“Marjorie is wrong, and her intentional decision to compare the horrors of the Holocaust with wearing masks is appalling. The Holocaust is the greatest atrocity committed in history. The fact that this needs to be stated today is deeply troubling,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said in a statement.
“At a time when the Jewish people face increased violence and threats, anti-Semitism is on the rise in the Democrat Party and is completely ignored by Speaker Nancy Pelosi,” he continued. “Americans must stand together to defeat anti-Semitism and any attempt to diminish the history of the Holocaust.
“Let me be clear: the House Republican Conference condemns this language.”…

McCarthy also condemned Trump after the Jan.6 insurrection .

McCarthy won’t back away from this….
She IS just a lose cannon…

Oh I put nothing past a POS like McCarthy.
Most Republicans nowadays are loose cannons.
Maybe he won’t formally “back away” as you put it,but if he gets some pushback from the kooks that now make up a goodly portion of the Republican Party?I can easily see him making some complimentary remarks about her to take the heat off himself.
My Name Is Jack says
CNN is reporting that McCarthys “ statement” was not spontaneous ,but rather was the result of pressure from Republican donors.
Makes sense .McCarthy is a weak kneed slimeball who ,given his own druthers ,probably wouldn’t have said anything about MTJ who is a personal favorite of the Leader of the party.
jamesb says
Thus heeding the pressure from the money that actually drives the party, eh Kevin?
Like i have said….
The party IS NOT rowing in one direction….
Zreebs says
Greatest atrocity committed in history? Perhaps, but there were other world history atrocities I can think of that were really horrific too, and how many more atrocities have happened that We don’t even know about?
bdog says
Bottom Line, She will be at Trump’s Rally next week in North Carolina…so condemn her comments all they want…actions speak louder than words and they are meaningless…
bdog says
She could be the next VP candidate…she is a lot like Sarah Palin…
CG says
It should be easy to denounce the comments of MTG but also the increasing acts of anti-Semitic violence happening in recent days across America, which is actually worse than mere dumb comments.
Why is it so difficult for some to speak out against both?
My Name Is Jack says
Who is it “difficult” for?
CG says
Those on the right who have been slow to speak out about MTG (though there seems to be a concerted effort today) as well as those on the left who have said nothing publicly about the increase of violent anti-Semitic attacks in the United States over the past couple weeks. Certainly fair less attention has been paid to this than to the attacks on Asian-Americans or other minorities recently.
CG says
Don’t just take my word for it..
“I’ll say the quiet part out loud; it’s time for ‘progressives’ to start condemning anti-semitism and violent attacks on Jewish people with the same intention and vigor demonstrated in other areas of activism.”
Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.)
CG says
Phillips actually had one more sentence to conclude his Tweet quoted above-
“The silence has been deafening.”
Zreebs says
Nobody should be attacked because of their race, nationality or religion. The people who attack for these reasons should be prosecuted for rheir hate crime. Of course it is disturbing to seeJews and other minorities targeted.
jamesb says
What about Muslims, Blacks and Gays?
And of course Progressives?
Zreebs says
Transgendered people have always been attacked more than almost any group, but the attacks have increased with Conservative ire over Potatohead and states allowing transgendered students participate in sports.
Transgendered people deserve as much protection and sympathy as any other minority.
jamesb says
Indeed….

Meanwhile state GOP meetings had to be canceled in Nevada due to threats from the Proud Boys.
I really don’t see the problem. The undisputed leader of the GOP told the Proud Boys to “stand by”
So these Neo Nazis threaten a few people to get their way in the party. Trump has their back and they all support Trump so maybe just learn to roll with it.

GOP officials seek probe of Proud Boys ties to censure vote
MICHELLE L. PRICE

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Republicans in Nevada are calling for an investigation into a vote last month to censure the GOP secretary of state after allegations emerged that the balloting was swayed by activists with ties to the far-right Proud Boys extremist group.
The Clark County Republican Party, representing Las Vegas and the most populated part of the state, along with Republicans in the state Senate, called for a review of the vote after a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal alleged the Nevada Republican Party added about 40 people, including activists with extremist ties, to its membership the day of the censure vote to ensure the measure passed.
“News reports that state party leaders may have formed a relationship with members of the organization known as the Proud Boys to sway the censure vote of a public official is profoundly concerning,” Senate Republicans said in their statement. “If there is a determination that any member or employee of the Nevada Republican Party conspired with these individuals or had knowledge of any wrongdoing in the party vote, Senate Republicans call for their immediate removal and resignation.”
They called for the Nevada Republican Party to review and disclose who attended the censure vote of Republican Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske.
The Nevada Republican Party disputed the allegations and the statements made by their fellow party members as “slanderous lies.”…

Besides degenerating into a group of cultists who openly support the lying ,cheating and outright attempt of thievery by their Leader, the Republican Party is now being infiltrated, apparently willingly ,by a gang of violent hoodlums.
What’s next?
Zreebs says
Whatever the leader wants.

God help us all
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Well, Jack, remember (since CG won’t miss an opportunity to remind you) when no Southern Democratic party or politician had a prayer without the support of a gang of violent hoodlums?
Zreebs says
There are other similarities between the Democratic Party in the South of decades ago with the GOP today.
Keith says
And that was always the point of Jack’s position on white grievance politics. The Parties began this transition after the passage of the Civil Rights Act, and anyone who has even basic knowledge of our history knows that except one very prolific poster.
That transition accelerated under Reagan and Bush and that black boy put it on heat.
Nixon was the racist and anti-Semitic genius who started this transition that is alive and well today.
But don’t forget, RFK Jr. is anti-vaccine and we’re all tribal.
My Name Is Jack says
Yes,we have discussed southern politics as the region moved from a one party Democratic region to a de facto one party Republican region from the 1960s through the 1990s numerous times.
Now?Well it’s more diverse today.Democrats do well in Virginia and are certainly competitive in North Carolina and Florida and are becoming more so in Georgia and Texas. However, Tennessee South Carolina, Alabama , Mississippi and Arkansas are effectively one party states.Louisiana is mostly too, except that John Bel Edwards ,a conservative Democrat , has twice been elected Governor .

A new Quinnipiac poll finds 85% of Republican voters say they would prefer to see their party’s candidates mostly agree with former President Donald Trump.
Asked whether they would like to see Trump run for president in 2024, Republicans say 66% to 30% they would.
Said pollster Tom Malloy: “The numbers fly in the face of any predictions that Donald Trump’s political future is in decline. By a substantial majority, Republicans: (1) believe the election was stolen from him, (2) want Trump to run again, and (3), if they can’t vote for Trump, prefer someone who agrees with him.”

The Q Poll link.…
The other parts in the poll…
Americans approve (49 – 41 percent) of the way Joe Biden is handling his job as president, with 10 percent not offering an opinion. Democrats approve 87 – 6 percent, independents are mixed 43 – 41 percent, and Republicans disapprove 88 – 9 percent.
Four months into Biden’s presidency, 21 percent say Biden is doing a better job than they expected, 24 percent say he’s doing a worse job than they expected, and 52 percent say he’s doing about what they expected
jamesb says
Hmmmmm?
Only 66%????
Where did the other 20% points go?
Like I’ve been saying?
Trump WITHOUT Donald Trump by 2024….
Asked whether they would like to see Trump run for president in 2024, Republicans say 66% to 30% they would.
Zreebs says
I guess it is a matter of perception. I consider 66% to be exceedingly high!
jamesb says
Again?
85% vs 66%?
I’ve been preaching here Trump IS FADDING HIMSELF
My Name Is Jack says
What’s just as interesting is the idea that “Trump Without Trump” is somehow better than “Trump With Trump.”
I mean any of the Trumpites being mentioned as potential successors:Pence, DeSantis,Hawley,Cotton , Cruz etc.?
I don’t see much difference.
Perhaps they might be less prone to twitter storms, Hatefests masquerading as “rallies” and wild personal attacks ,but their effect on the country(bad in my view) would be about the same as Trump himself.
So,as for me?Its not just Trump,it’s Trumpism.
jamesb says
Of course there WILL BE a difference….
With ringleader gone
Fighting for his money and maybe freedom ?
The fractures within the party WILL spread…
My Name Is Jack says
Oh that’s absolutely true.
Hell when I was a kid in the 50s I well remember the Klan .There were people I knew who I suspected that their fathers were either actual members or ,at least , sympathizers with the Klan.
And almost everyone in the south back then was a Democrat, except when it came to presidential elections.
It was also common well into the seventies for Democrats in SC to refer to themselves as “Southern Or South Carolina Democrats” to differentiate themselves from them Damn Northern “libruls.
Scott P says
New Quinnipiac poll: 85% of Republican voters want their party’s candidates to agree with Trump.
66% of Republicans want Trump to run for President again.
Of all Americans 66% do NOT want to see the 45th President make another run at the White House.
Scott P says
Trumpism without Trump on the ballot is what gave Democrats 2 Senate seats in Georgia.
Now I’d rather we have a sane rational Republican Party. One that I would not vote for but I wouldn’t fear for our Democracy if they won.
However if that is not to be I want any scenario that keeps Republicans from power.
jamesb says
Amen Scott!
