A Long Island lawmaker Lee Zeldin so far….
and Rudy Giuliani’s Son are running for the Republicans
Even a wounded Andrew Cuomo is gonna be ahead of those two right now when the polls come out I’d guess….
Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin announced his bid for New York governor on Thursday, becoming the first GOP candidate to officially launch a challenge against embattled Democratic incumbent Andrew Cuomo.
“So, after talking to New Yorkers who feel like this is a last stand, a last great opportunity to save New York, and the fact that to save our state, Andrew Cuomo’s got to go — I’m announcing here this morning on your show that I’m running for governor of New York in 2022 and we are going to win this race,” Zeldin said on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends.”
When asked what sparked his decision to make a gubernatorial bid, Zeldin cited the ongoing scandals involving Cuomo, including his handling of the coronavirus in nursing homes and reports of preferential COVID-19 testing treatment granted to his family, in addition to the income tax rate in the state….
…
Zeldin is likely to square off in the Republican primary against Andrew Giuliani, the son of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani who is also a former staffer for then-President Trump. On Wednesday, Andrew Giuliani said that he intends to run for governor in 2022.
“I plan to run,” Andrew Giuliani told the Washington Examiner. He added that he thought he stood a good chance of unseating a “wounded” Cuomo.
Giuliani told the Examiner that he plans to officially launch his campaign later this month after a meeting with the New York State Republican Committee….

Cuomo Aides Spent Months Hiding Nursing Home Death Toll
Aides to the New York governor, Andrew M. Cuomo, repeatedly prevented state health officials from releasing the number of nursing home deaths in the pandemic.

The New York Times

The effort by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s office to obscure the pandemic death toll in New York nursing homes was far greater than previously known, with aides repeatedly overruling state health officials over a span of at least five months, according to interviews and newly unearthed documents.
Mr. Cuomo’s most senior aides engaged in a sustained effort to prevent the state’s own health officials, including the commissioner, Howard Zucker, from releasing the true death toll to the public or sharing it with state lawmakers, these interviews and documents showed.
A scientific paper, which incorporated the data, was never published. An audit of the numbers by a top Cuomo aide was finished months before it became publicly known. Two letters, drafted by the Health Department and meant for state legislators, were never sent.
The actions coincided with the period in which Mr. Cuomo was pitching and then writing a book on the pandemic, with the assistance of his top aide, Melissa DeRosa, and others.
And they came as the governor’s approach to nursing homes was receiving intensifying scrutiny from critics and Republicans, including former President Donald J. Trump, whose administration made a public show of requesting nursing home death data from four states with Democratic governors, including New York.
The number of nursing home residents who died in the pandemic has been a particularly sensitive question for the Cuomo administration.
As the first wave hit New York in March 2020, the administration put in place a policy to prevent nursing homes from turning away patients discharged from hospitals after treatment for Covid-19. Some critics blamed the approach for the large number of resident deaths in the spring, a toll that the administration then put at around 6,000.
But by the time the policy was rescinded less than two months later, it had become clear that not all the deaths were being included in that tally: Those who died after being transferred to hospitals were not counted as nursing home deaths…

How is it that New Yorkers who become national heroes (America’s Mayor, America’s Governor) during national crises turn out to be real slimeballs who hire creeps for assistants (remember Bernie Kerik?)
But, after all, the Big Apple is Broadway, Madison Ave. and Wall Street. (Sell the sizzle and not the steak.)

Kerik , a NYPD Police Chief, actually went to jail….
Maybe it’s in the water?

NY Gov Andrew Cuomo & Co. do NOT have a good look with this …
The Feds are probing this…
The NY AG already released a report on this…
We’ll see what lawmakers do about this…..
I STILL think he’s gonna get re-elected……
(He’s gone out of his way to re-open the state and do the Bill Clinton ‘I’m working’ thing….)
I could be wrong….
We’ll see….

Cuomo’s Vaccine Czar Suddenly Quits
“Larry Schwartz, one of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s most trusted advisers, unexpectedly stepped down from his role as New York State’s vaccine czar, about five months after he was recruited by the governor to spearhead the state’s vaccine rollout,” the New York Times reports.
“His resignation was submitted on Wednesday, just as the State Legislature restored state provisions to the public officers law that would have affected Mr. Schwartz had he remained in the position.”

Cruise ships that have been docked for more than a year could restart sailing in United States waters by mid-July, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a letter sent to the cruise industry late on Wednesday.
After several meetings with cruise lines, the C.D.C. clarified several requirements in its Framework for Conditional Sailing Order, which outlined the steps that cruise companies had to follow to resume operations in U.S. waters. The agency said it will let the companies skip test voyages if they attest that 98 percent of the crew and 95 percent of passengers are fully vaccinated….
