Must be hurting his feeling and scaring the man, eh?
“It’s quite stupid to jump in the middle of a highly controversial issue,” he told reporters.
“Republicans drink Coca-Cola too, and we fly and we like baseball,” he said. “It’s irritating one hell of a lot of Republican fans.”
The colorful language from the typically reserved Republican leader shows the dilemma ahead for the party in the post-Trump era. Many Trump-styled lawmakers are bucking big business and leaning more heavily into the populist, working-class themes championed by the former president — even as they rely on deep-pocketed business donors to fuel their political campaigns.
By wading into the debate, McConnell is situating himself in the emerging culture wars with the progressive groups that are pressuring business not to sit silently on voting rights, gun violence and other big issues before Congress.
Congress will take center stage in many of these battles, the Senate in particular, as Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure package and other priorities head for votes.
“They have the right to participate in the political process,” McConnell told reporters. But he said, “If I were running a major corporation, I’d stay out of politics.”….
(CNN)Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell warned big businesses they would face “serious consequences” after accusing them of employing “economic blackmail” in attempts to influence voting laws as the backlash over Georgia’s elections law that imposes voting restrictions intensifies….
Note…
Of course it WAS alright for business to dance with McConnell and Republicans when Trump was President?

The Republican attack on corporations is ,in my view ,entirely superficial.
Reducing taxes and regulations for big business is one of the reasons the Republican Party exist.
Sure they’ll blow off a little like McConnell but it has no effect upon the Republican role as the protector of the wealthy ,all this “blue collar jargon notwithstanding..Indeed Trump economic advisor Larry “blow” Kudlow last week observed that the biggest beneficiaries of low taxes for corporations were “blue collar workers.” Theres the true Republican mentality.
As for Mitchs threat of “serious consequences?” We’ve seen It.Hot air!

I agree that companies will disregard McConnell’s threats…

Money talks. If Republicans were really as “populist” and “anti war” as they are trying to market themselves as now in the post Trump era why don’t they support raising taxes on the wealthy or cuts in defense spending?
Oh yeah because they are neither “populist” nor “anti war”.

Nikki Haley
Sorry Nikki ,You still can’t get back in with Trump.Look at Brian Kempe He pushed a major voter suppression measure through the legislature to curry favor with his master and what did he get?Trump pronouncing it didn’t go far enough

And that was a real honest to goodness mob.
Nikkis pandering will never end?
