As Republicans debate the former President’s role in the future of the Republican party, Johnson has firmly placed himself in Trump’s camp, speaking with him by phone just days ago. He said he expects the former President to support and campaign for him if he runs again.
“I’ve always aligned myself with the people who supported Trump,” Johnson said. “That’s how I view it.”
During a recent high-profile hearing, Johnson inserted into the record a first-person account that tried to shift the responsibility from Trump to a small group of provocateurs, suggesting they turned a largely peaceful protest of the 2020 election into a rampage that left nearly 140 officers injured and five dead. Johnson then repeatedly pushed back on those who said the riot was an “armed” insurrection, saying the FBI is unaware of any arms being confiscated or any shots fired besides from law enforcement. Johnson has condemned the violence and acknowledged that other weapons besides firearms were used by the rioters.
In the interview with CNN, Johnson refused to bat down the Trump lie that the election was stolen.
“I think there are some real issues that have not been answered and I think these are legitimate concerns about the election,” Johnson said. “I’m not afraid of the truth, okay?”
Johnson says he’s perplexed by his critics and media coverage he characterized as “false headlines, putting words in my mouth, assigning me motives that I don’t have.” He said he isn’t bothered by it; that he has “really thick skin” and the target on his back may even encourage him to run again….

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) forced Senate clerks last night to read the entire pandemic relief bill over more than 10 hours, yet he wasn’t there to object this morning when Democrats reduced debate on the bill from to just three hours instead of 20.
So the bill Johnson tried to slow is now moving even faster to passage.
When he seeks for the people who are out to destroy him, he ought to look in the mirror.
Ron Johnson has been nuts for years. He called scientists that believe that global warming is attributed to humans “crazy”.

“Republicans are strangely silent — actually, it’s not strange at all — over revelations that US Representative Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina has been accused of sexual harassment by multiple women and has lied repeatedly about the car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down.
“He has claimed that his best friend, who was driving, ran from the scene into the woods, leaving Cawthorn “in a fiery tomb.” In fact, the friend pulled him from the wreckage. But that’s not as dramatic, is it?
“He also has said that he was declared dead by emergency workers at the scene, but apparently miraculously came back to life. That also was a lie, according to the accident report.
“And he tells audiences that he was on his way to the Naval Academy for a career in the military when the accident derailed his plans. I don’t think I have to tell you that that was another lie. He had been rejected by the academy before the accident happened.
“He dropped out of a conservative Christian college after one semester after getting mostly Ds.
“Remember, he’s the rep who bragged that his criteria for hiring legislative staff wasn’t that they have policy chops or an ability to craft meaningful legislation. He hired them for their PR experience. How’s that working out for you, bucko?”

I file Cawthorn right alongside Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene. They’re all shifty wackos I wouldn’t trust to watch my house plants.
But they’re all about “owning the libs”–whivh is more important to Republicans these days than telling the truth.
I wonder if the entire week will be spent dicing the sexual accusations flying around this lying little creep?

It is different. 160 women have accused Cawthorn of sexual harassment and inappropriate touching. CG insists that he is alwaysconsistent so he will call for Cawthorn’s resignation.

It’s not only that Democrats see Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) as finally ripe for defeat after closely aligning himself with former President Donald Trump’s penchant for incendiary rhetoric. They also want to make a point that Johnson’s confrontational style is no longer a fit in his perennial swing state….
