Joe Biden has a political and logistical time bomb ticking….
Immigration….
Donald Trump rode the issue to his Presidency…
He’s back on it….
Biden has promised to make the immigration ‘process’ more humane…
That has renewed efforts by immigrants to try to cross the border and increased the number of children there….(Part of this is also seasonal…Crossings increase with warmer weather )
He’s only in office for about 45 days and he won’t be able top perform a miracle…His admin is already NOT able to for fill promises on certain things they complained about Trump doing, and they can’t change…
The issue, policy and action required IS complex…
Republicans are already going after Biden on politics of this and the media has picked up the scent of a story they can run. with…
Biden needs time that some aren’t gonna give him to clean up the mess Trump & Co. left at the border…
Former President Donald Trump claims “our country is being destroyed” by a surge of migrants crossing the southern border with Mexico.
In a statement released Tuesday night to Fox News, Trump blamed the influx on President Joe Biden halting construction on his signature border wall with Mexico.
“The Wall, despite horrendous Democratic delays, would have easily been finished by now, and is working magnificently,” said Trump, who arrived in New York on Sunday for his first visit since leaving the White House in January.
Biden’s promise of a more effective and humane policy towards immigrants is being tested by a major wave of migrants arriving in his first weeks in the White House….

This “time bomb” as you described it will never quit “ticking.”
There is no consensus in this country as to immigration reform.
Let me see, you’ve already declared the Democratic Party finished .
Now it’s all over for Joe when this “time bomb” explodes!
Trump 24!!

I agree and write that the issue of immigration has and will continue ….
Trump WAS able to use it to his advantage to get his last job….
Buy true the issue’s infection like grasp it came back on him also….
Right now?
As pointed out….
The blister HAS gotten Biden & Co. attention….
One would image that they are working hard to make sure the ‘perception’ that they are no better than Trump at this does NOT stick…
And Yes….
It could cause Biden and Democrats pain for the 2022/2024 election’s…
He, he, he….
I see your merry mode continues today…..

My “merry mode?”
You need to read what you write Homer.
You’re the one calling immigration a “time bomb.”
Immigration has been an issue for years and will continue to be for years!
You’re the one that is being apocalyptic here.
In my view, I think there are things now much more important than immigration.
jamesb says
You aren’t the President….
It IS a festering issue for him….
Thank You for agreeing with me on the issue!

When times are good, immigration tends to be a less contentious issue.
When times are bad, uncertain or threatening, immigration can become all-consuming and horribly divisive.
That’s not just a trite truism for the present: it goes back as least as far as the deadly anti-Catholic riots of the 1840’s, the Know-Nothings in the 1850’s, the New York Draft Riots of 1862, “Rum, Romanism and Rebellion” in 1884, Dennis (“the Chinee must go!”) Kearney’s Workingmen”s Party in California, the Chinese and Japanese Exclusion Acts of the 1890’s, the restrictive immigration laws of the 1920’s, the Ku Klux Klan’s expansion into the North after World War I, the anti-Catholic Republican campaign against Al Smith in 1928 and the Japanese internments and zoot suit riots during World War II.

Thank You for your prospective as usual DSD….
It HAS been an issue forever….
Some use that issue to their political advantage…
My feeling is that immigration has made America as strong as it is today….
We ALL have family that had come from someplace else in the past….
Why turn ur back on the new one’s?
But that said…
They needs to be a controlled way to accept those knocking on the door or crawling thru the windows…

Small self-correction: the New York draft riots are a poor example of antipathy to immigrants: they did involve Irish-Americans but as aggressors against native Negroes, (not for hypothetical example the other way around).
(In fact, the North welcomed and recruited immigrants during the Civil War when the army needed more men.)
Anti-Irish mobs burned down an inhabited Catholic convent and orphanage in Boston in the 1840’s; in 1862, Irish-American mobs burned down a black orphanage in New York.
To examples of xenophobia under stress, I could have added violence against German and Austrian immigrants and descendants during World War I. (A literary and cinematic example can be seen in John Steinbeck’s East of Eden.)

Immigration HAS been an issue for EACH wave of people’s coming to America voluntarily and against their will….
