Told ya So…..
Any idiot that talked about the guy working his job for JUST Four years was plain dumb….Why would he signal THAT?….
Joe Biden is ‘feeling his oats’ with his just passed Stimulus/Rescue program and Virus cases dropping with an increased virus case drop across the country…
He’s got his staff helping him on ANOTHER Big Government boost in a THREE Trillion Dollar Infrastructure /Everything thrown in bill next….
Ole’ Joe IS looking ahead….
There ARE some warning signs in the wind though…
Immigration….
His head winds in Congress….
And of course his age….
Kamala Harris hasn’t been seen much in the last 60 days….
But that is alright…
Wouldn’t hurt for her to learn from the guy who went from the Senate, to the Vice President to to the White House….
And would set her up to do the same and great the back and forth for the White House that tends to happen between the country tries major parties….
Joe Biden campaigned on being a “transition” president during a pivotal time in the nation’s history, saying he’d take the reins away from former President Trump and return the country to normal.
Another Biden ally added that Biden hasn’t told associates that he wouldn’t be running again.
“So we all assume that he is,” the ally said, “contrary to this sentiment that he’ll be a one-term president because of his own volition.”
Biden, who will turn 79 later this year, is the oldest president in the nation’s history. If he runs again in 2024, it will undoubtedly open discussions about his age and ability to handle the job.
Republican talking heads, including Fox News’s Sean Hannity, have already been raising questions about Biden’s cognitive abilities, posing questions about who’s really in charge at the White House.
GOP senators implicitly sent the same message earlier this year, arguing they could deal with Biden but that the staff around him, particularly White House chief of staff Ron Klain, made it more difficult. Few reporters who heard those statements saw it as anything other than an effort to make it appear that it was staff running the White House and not Biden.
Biden allies say it’s still early in his presidency and too early to be thinking about 2024.
But now more than ever, those around him say he’ll make another bid for the presidency.
“I don’t think there’s any reason to say that he won’t,” said one longtime adviser to the president…
…
Still, those close to him signal Biden is up for another four years. Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) told Politico in January that Biden is “planning to run again.”
“He knows that we are at the middle of an absolute turning point, a pivot point in American history, and he’s up for the challenge,” Coons said.
It’s likely there will also be pressure on Biden to run again, too, given the closeness of the 2020 race.
Biden cast himself as the one Democrat who could defeat Trump, and with the former president flirting with another run, some in the party will see Biden as the best bet to keep Trump out of the Oval Office.
In an interview with “Axios on HBO” in November, Valerie Biden Owens, Biden’s sister who has advised Biden since the start of his political career, said her brother “absolutely” would run for a second term.
“He’s transitional in that he’s bringing in all these young people and bringing [us] back again [so] we’re not a divided country,” she continued. “But sure. He’s going strong.”
Recent polls appear to support that sentiment. Biden has the support of a majority of Americans, with 55 percent saying they approve of his performance, according to politics website FiveThirtyEight. His approval rating is bolstered by his handling of the coronavirus and vaccine distribution….

“Kamala Harris hasn’t been seen much in the last 60 days….
But that is alright…”
Wow
jamesb says
Has she been?
jamesb says
Well CG?
Just like THAT VP Harris is dropped into the fray..
Biden has announced Harris has the lead on Immigration..
We’ll see how she does…
CG says
She has been as visible as any other new VP. She has done as many press conferences as Biden has.
My Name Is Jack says
Way too early to make any sort of definitive statement in this regard.
You “told ya so” routine notwithstanding.
The article itself was prettty much boilerplate type rhetoric that anyone would say this early in the term.
As for your editorial comments? The usual dose of hyperbolic nonsense we have all grown used to.
jamesb says
Nevertheless Jack?
Just like Trump?
It’s Biden driving the car….
My Name Is Jack says
Uh who said he wasn’t?
Scott P says
Well to be fair Republicans have been saying Kamala Harris would be in charge if Biden was elected. I’m sure that had nothing to do with misogyny or racism though. Nah. Can’t be!
CG says
More about the stereotype of Biden being “out of it.”
Scott P says
Yeah because anyone who supported #45 is an arbiter as to who is “with it”
And it can be two things.
CG says
People on the left said Cheney was really in charge too.
CG says
*If* I were to buy into any “behind the scenes” conspiracy theory, I would go with the Ron Klain/staff running things one.
jamesb says
Cheney was in charge until Bush II realized he was a liability….
CG says
Ridiculous
Zreebs says
Wasn’t it that Bernie would be in charge?
Scott P says
It can be three things. Or 4 if you count AOC
jamesb says
No it was Rice….
But it’s gotten BIGGER….
Democratic Socialist Dave says
This is (while entirely predictable; I could have told you this during the primaries) utterly stupid and idotic. Joe Biden’s only been in office for nine weeks (less than 2/3 of his 100 days) and any inclinations he might have one way or the other won’t have changed since Christmas.
Presidents who don’t intend to run again often postpone announcing that for as long as possible since the announcement usually makes them into lame ducks.
Presidents who make that announcement too soon, such as Teddy Roosevelt during the 1906 midterms, often not only lose influence, but sometimes later regret that decision (because either their personal feelings, the political situation or their most-likely successors have moved in a direction they didn’t expect).
I now fully expect utterly useless speculation about who will run in 2028, even if he or she is Joe Biden or a different president elected in 2024.
Some people (e.g. dealers in very long-term securities) actually have to look as well as they can as far as they can, fully knowing that this is fuzzy, transient and subject to all kinds of forces that can’t even be foreseen, let alone predicted (a natural disaster destroys a major city, a very important figure dies unexpectedly, an asteroid strikes, the world is consumed by a far more virulent affliction than Covid-19).
For anyone who isn’t in must-choose situation (like a general forced to make decisions in the Fog of War), this completely stupid.
But James loves this useless stuff; no doubt his next post will predict the yet-unborn winner of the 2028 Kentucky Derby.
CG says
The horse will be named “Hunter’s Laptop.”
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Will that be your next post to cg.blogspot ?
jamesb says
Actually DSD?
My stupid stuff marries with the top of ur comments….
It IS stupid to expect Biden to say anything else….
I assume in his news conference tomorrow he’ll be asked directly the same question and answer TWO terms….
To early?
Hogwash!
The Republican 2024 early runners are ALREADY talking to the people on the ground in Iowa and NH….
May seem stupid….
But the race for President NEVER ends and Biden & Co are covering their asses by NOT letting their boss seem a lame duck….
I ACTUALLY DID say this before this post…..
Zreebs says
James, DSD made an excellent post, and he did not deserve your sarcasm. While I might not agree with every one of Dave’s posts, his comments are usually insightful. And no one here (other than perhaps you) believes his comments ever in any way, shape or form resemble some of the things you say.
Perhaps you can make the argument that some of Manila Calling!’s comments were similar to yours, but even that is debatable. Manila Calling! could be weird, but he was at least consistent, and you usually had some idea what he was trying to say.
It makes perfect sense for the Biden team to say they expect Biden to run again. Because otherwise, talk about not running would only weaken Biden. Why isn’t that obvious? We don’t know what Biden’s health will be like in three years or what his popularity will be like either, and as DSD effectively explained, there are many other unknowns too that will influence Biden’s decision on whether to run.
Your comments reminded me about a time in 2013 that Amy Klobuchar attended the Iowa Wing Ding fundraiser and you declared that this would put pressure on Hillary to declare her candidacy for the 2016 race. We laughed at you back then too, and for all we know you might still think that Klobuchar attending the Wing Ding fundraiser is what made Hillary to decide to run.
jamesb says
My comments and yours right now mirror what I said and what DSD said….
My only disagreement with him is it’s too early….
IT IS NOT….
In ‘my’ view…..
jamesb says
Hey Z?
Just wanted to point out that Biden says he’s looking to run for a second term….
Zreebs says
And in the follow up question, he said he can’t say what he will do in 3 1/2 years for certain. Wasn’t that a much better answer than what you initially said? Who knows whether he will run again?
My Name Is Jack says
Gee I’m shocked!
Why I thought for sure Biden was going to begin his press conference by reading a succinct statement telling the country that he was not running for a second term!
Wow, was I wrong!!!!
CG says
Just early
My Name Is Jack says
Biden will be 82 years old at the end of this term.
His “intent” today is irrelevant and anyone who takes his statement or those of his aides as indicating that he will definitely run again?
Is Stupid.
CG says
Up until 1983, most “experts” did not think Reagan would run for a second term, and when he was asked, he was non-committal, and almost made it sound like he was leaning against it (while the opposite was probably true… Nancy did not want him to though), and he did not seem to be lacking in being able to work towards his agenda.
People did of course remark that he did not meet with the Soviets during his first term, but that was because their leaders kept dying.
Zreebs says
I do not recall that – although I am not disputing what to said.
Scott P says
Prior to Trump I always thought part of the reason people were drawn to the outsider business person becoming President is that they were likely to only serve one term.
Ross Perot and the even longer shot Morry Taylor both talked about only serving one term.
But Trump blew that out of the water by being instead a constant politician. All while insisting he’s not one.
jamesb says
About HIMSELF????
jamesb says
Joe Biden today was about ‘us’ as a nation…
Not about making a money profit….
I would generally argue against most business people being politicans
Of course there are tons of them…
Thankfully they were NOT Presidents
