Former Vice President Pence on Wednesday criticized the 2020 election in his his first extended written comments since leaving office in January.
Pence, who was presiding over a joint session of Congress when its certification of the Electoral College results was interrupted by a mob of former President Trump‘s supporters, said there were “significant voting irregularities” and “numerous instances of officials setting aside state election law” in the 2020 presidential election.
The former vice president, a target of some in the mob who called for his hanging, said those events had “deprived the American people of a substantive discussion in Congress about election integrity in America.”…

Pence knows that the ignorant and uneducated base of the Republican Party believes, without any evidence, that the last election was stolen. So he panders to this constituency, even when he knows that crowd of Republicans who broke into the Capitol would have killed him if they could have gotten their hands on him.

I’m not in to giving Trump Party members “hero” status for simply doing their job as the Constitution or the law requires.
Indeed that whole idea shows how Trump has skewered political life in this country.
What would have bern “heroic” is if Pence had denounced Trump ,the putrid effect he has had on his party and the country in general, apologized profusely for his involvement in it and retired from politics.
Alas ,even after having a mob of Trumps terrorists threaten his life ,at the end, ho remains nothng but a groveling ,little wimp for his Lordship.
And that’s why it’s so baffling that James tries to give Pence backhanded praise for simply doing his job.
It has been awhile since I was last baffled by anything James said.

Anytime any Republican makes the least little comment ,that is even mildly critical of Trump, a headline appears citing such as a sure indication that Republicans are “ moving away “from Trump.
Even more confusing is his assertion last week that he “really” wants Trump to keep “ripping “ the Republican Party apart,even as he asserts that Trump is “fading away,” a result ,if he is to be believed , that he surely doesn’t want.
I guess the operative words are “if he is to be believed?”
