Prosecutors unveiled new conspiracy charges Friday against four leaders of the Proud Boys, the pro-Trump extremist group that participated in the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, charging them with a plot to disrupt Congress’ certification of the 2020 election.
The grand jury indictment, handed up last week and unsealed Friday by a federal judge in Washington, alleges that Ethan Nordean of Seattle, Zach Rehl of Philadelphia, Charles Donahoe of North Carolina and Joseph Biggs of Florida orchestrated a strategy to overwhelm Capitol Police officers and target weakly guarded entrances to the building….

The charges are arguably the most significant leveled in the 10 weeks since a mob of Donald Trump supporters — seeded with cells of organized extremist groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers — stormed the Capitol, sent lawmakers and then-Vice President Mike Pence fleeing for safety and injured more than 100 police officers.
And the Proud Boys case could expand beyond the four current defendants. One claim in the new charges is that as many as 60 people were in a secure, encrypted communications channel the group set up to coordinate its activities on the day the Capitol was stormed.
A conspiracy indictment against 10 Oath Keepers has been pending for weeks and is expected to add up to five additional defendants, although several appear to be low-level members who tagged along with organizers.
By contrast, the conspiracy indictment unveiled against the Proud Boys Friday is aimed squarely at the group’s leadership….
Hopefully these Trump Terrorists will go to prison for a long time.

Said Blunt: “We don’t need to try and explain away or come up with alternative versions. We all saw what happened, we know what happened. We can’t let that kind of thing be repeated in our country. Totally unacceptable.”

Former President Donald Trump is arguing that his supporters who went to the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 posed “zero threat” to members of Congress gathered there to certify the Electoral College’s vote confirming President Joe Biden’s win, and complained law enforcement is “persecuting them” while refusing to hold left-wing protesters accountable.
“Some of them went in and they’re, they’re hugging and kissing the police and the guards,” Trump told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham Thursday night. “You know, they had great relationships. A lot of the people were waved in and then they walked in and they walked out.”
Trump said that “some of” the people who entered the Capitol are being prosecuted and “some things should happen to them,” but he is “concerned” about “antifa and BLM [Black Lives Matter] and some of the horrible things that we witnessed” with their protests.
“When they take over Portland, and they take over the courthouse and they destroyed the building, you have to see what they have done to the building over the years, and just over the last few weeks, they have been having massive riots and other things in Portland,” said Trump.
He added that Mayor Ted Wheeler, who he called the “crazy mayor…a radical left, he cannot take it anymore.”
However, in the case of the Capitol, law enforcement goes “after people, that I guess you would call them lean toward the right, and they wave American flags, in many cases, they are waving the American flag and they love our country.”…

By the way, in no way is the violence initiated by protestors in Portland and other cities justified and those people should be completely held accountable for the violence they committed.
The national director of Democratic Socialists of America (in reference to Charlottesville) called antifa our “comrades”.
No way are they my comrades: they are an enemy to peaceful protest (as they were in Occupy Oakland and countless demonstrations against globalism) and thus objectively a force for the far right.
On the other hand, DSA refused to endorse Biden (probably to Biden’s benefit) or even congratulate his victory and have withdrawn from the Socialist (or 2nd) International. Jacinda Ardern is my comrade, not antifa.

Update on the Oath Keeps and the Feds….
An inadvertently disclosed court filing on Monday indicated that prosecutors are in advanced negotiations about a potential guilty plea from a heavy metal guitarist and self-described “lifetime member” of the Oath Keepers who is one of more than 300 defendants charged for breaching the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Jon Schaffer, frontman with a band called Iced Earth, was arrested in Indiana in January on charges that he used bear spray to assault officers trying to prevent rioters from entering the building as lawmakers were attempting to certify President Joe Biden’s Electoral College win…

Daily in this country,thousands of people are jailed for such” egregious” offenses as Public intoxication, Simple Possession of marijuana, Shoplifting of items worth less than $50 etc.
Unless we jail these traitors ,it is indeed almost impossible to justify such incarcerations in the future.
