Update….
NOT So fast…..
The letter, from 11 leading statisticians, infectious-disease physicians and ethics experts appointed by the National Institutes of Health to review the trial data for all the major coronavirus vaccines supported by the federal government, says the company’s decision puts the vaccine in the most favorable light — a grave scientific misstep that could erode trust in the vaccine….
That would put is ahead of the Johnson & Johnson’s one shot 72% in America….
ALL of the vaccine ‘s ARE effective against those getting their shot getting severely sick….
The AstraZeneca and Oxford University vaccine is going up for approval shortly….
In a news release, the Oxford researchers, who developed the easily transported $4 shot for the British-Swedish pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, said their coronavirus vaccine is “safe and highly effective, adding to previous trial data from the United Kingdom, Brazil and South Africa, as well as real-world impact data from the United Kingdom.”
…
The one-shot Johnson & Johnson efficacy rate is 66 percent overall and 72 percent in the United States in preventing moderate to severe cases of covid-19, according to data presented to the FDA….

Krispy Kreme says they will give you a free donut every day for the rest of the year if youcan prove to be vaccinated.
CG says
They are going to go broke!
jamesb says
Nah…..
More people around to eat their stuff…
CG says
It sucks that the closest one to me is 8.26 miles away.
Of course I have to be able to get vaccinated first.
jamesb says
I saw that Jack…
Good Look….
Scott P says
Getting the vaccine is it’s own reward. I’ll continue to get donuts occasionally from the mom and pop donut shop down the street, but hey anyone who wants to take advantage of KK’s corporate generosity I say go for it..
Got my 1st vaccine scheduled for tomorrow. Crossing state lines for it!
CG says
How is that legal? I assume you would mean Illinois.
Keith says
Congratulations Scott. The second one can have side effects, plan to be down for a day or two. Which one are you getting?
My Name Is Jack says
I only had a few minor body aches after my second .
Lucky I guess.
CG says
It is being said that the older the person is the less likely they are to have side effects (more years of an immune system or what not.)
My parents and virtually all of their friends had no reaction at all.
My Name Is Jack says
Yes I read that.
Certainly that was true for me also.
I barely noticed it.
My Name Is Jack says
Actually I think Biden should have done something with that coronavirus legislation to encourage vaccinations.
For example ,give those eligible a one time payment of a thousand dollars with the extra four hundred only to be given after proof of vaccination.
I suggest that most of those who supposedly have some “Objection “ to being vaccinated?Would be lining up for their shot!
Keith says
I was down with flu symptoms for several days. It simply impacts immune systems differently. I was happy to get the vaccine. Kaiser is really well organized, twice I had 1:15 appointments, and both times they were giving my my shot at 1:15, and I was in line with at least 100 people. From a slow start California is really moving. Folks are simply walking into the Moscone Center in SF with waits of no longer than 20 minutes.
jamesb says
Excellent Keith
jamesb says
Good luck Scott
CG says
I hope Scott and every human on Earth gets vaccinated as soon as possible, but I do not know if I understand the methodology of how an appointment was procured in what I assume is Illinois, because Illinois has definitely been stating, as far I have heard, that you must live or at the minimum work in the state in order to qualify for an allotted dose, and they are even requesting that people only get it in the county where they live, because they are allotted by county. This is no different why I would not be able to go to Wisconsin to get the vaccine.
I assume they will ask for a state ID and if it is a long trip I hope it is not for naught.
Scott P says
It’s 15 minutes away. I sometimes work in Illinois, and unpaid caregivers to the elderly have been added to eligibility.
CG says
don’t be surprised if they turn you away.
I have a friend in New Jersey who thought he had an appt in Pennsylvania and it wound up being canceled.
Scott P says
Thank you for your concern. If that happens I’ll roll with it.
CG says
Just for the record, the 56 year old, 400 lb, Governor of Illinois has yet to get vaccinated.
Scott P says
Well he should drive to Missouri where they were begging people to travel several hours to take vaccines before they went bad because they had vaccination events with 10,0000 doses in counties with 5000 people and half of them are QAnon nuts.
CG says
He’s trying to set an example of doing things “by the book”, being a billionaire and all.
Or he just finished the negotiations with Krispy Kreme.
Zreebs says
Well if he had to use the website to sign up, it is understandable. I can’t get an appointment either.
CG says
Krispy Kreme’s website is showing a vaccine card for a “Jane Dough.”
CG says
Toughest job in America today might be running social media for Dunkin’ Donuts.
CG says
Trump just sent out a press release demanding that Panda Express reciprocate.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Krispy Kreme came to New England with all the revved-up anticipation (think of lines for the latest Windows or Apple) and hoopla only to pull out within a year or two. This is Dunkin’ territory; I live about 10 or 12 blocks from the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence (which always makes me ask what is —or is not — in the Center of a Donut?)
Tim Horton’s with the associated Cold Stone Creamery likewise came down here a decade or two, stiffed some of their franchisees by stacking them too close to each other’s territory, and then skipped out of New England a couple of years later. I’ve never actually tasted Tim Horton’s celebrated coffee, and although I went into a Cold Stone Creamery near Brown University a few times, I never tasted their fabled ice cream.

I used to work as a Dunkin Donuts baker. I was required to wear this magenta DD apron.
CG says
Wow, never knew you were such a legend:
Scott P says
Got my first Moderns dose in Illinois no problem with my Missouri ID.
Despite the prediction of those who claim to be “rarely wrong”
CG says
I don’t believe I made the “prediction.”
I am happy you have started the vaccination process. Those of us in Illinois like Zreebs and myself are anxious to join you. I suppose I will spend another hour tonight trying to somehow find an appointment online.
Based on my understanding of what Illinois has set up, you did “game” the system somewhat.
Scott P says
No. I registered on Walgreens website with a Missouri address and they directed me to this location.
I am eligible in the state due to being considered an unpaid care givers to my elderly mother (who gets her 2nd shot later this week).
No gaming the system and did not have to drive 3 hours away as some in St. Louis and Kansas City have done to stay in Missourind get to places where they had available vaccines.
Scott P says
I am eligible in my state I should say.
CG says
You are eligible in your state for sure. I find it amazing that Walgreens would direct you to an Illinois location though. It sounds like a system glitch.
Again, I am glad you are getting vaccinated, but there are a lot of people I know in the Chicago area, such as my sister in law, who is a caregiver to her elderly ill parents, who are in a holding pattern.
Walgreens has no appointments available anywhere around me nor all the other options I am trying and it’s very frustrating and even harder on my mother who is fretting about this daily in regards to my brother and myself.
Scott P says
I’m sorry that’s the case for your family.
Maybe the state of Illinois has allocated more doses to Southern IL than needed. Considering how downstate residents of the Land of Lincoln complain quite a bit about Chicago getting preferential treatment this may be a case where they have absolutely no room to complain.
Maybe you all can do what many STL and KC residents have done and take a vaccine road trip to Southern IL.
CG says
The programs tend to be run by the counties and Downstate Illinois has been doing better at vaccinating than Cook County for instance. Large mass sites in Chicago or elsewhere in Cook County are requiring that you live in a specific zip code which are places that have had the highest rates of the virus.
I believe the “closest” place in Illinois that has open appointments is Carbondale, which is over 8 hours away.
CG says
I do know of people (who are not working daily) who have gone to pharmacies several times a day, asking if they can get a leftover dose, and have gotten vaccinated at the end of the day by doing that.
Zreebs says
I just got an appointment on Saturday in Springfield – which is well over 200 miles away.
CG says
That’s definitely a trip.
Scott P says
Missouri is set to open eligibility to all over 16 years old on April 9.
CG says
Pritzker is getting vaccinated today, after the kind generosity shown to some Missourians.
Scott P says
I wonder which state Alan Keyes is getting vaccinated in. Does he still have an IL address? I mean I’m sure he thinks the vaccine is a gay device so this is all hypothetical.
CG says
Only the Johnson & Johnson shot would sound too gay to him.
Perhaps though an issue with “Moderna” not living up to traditional values.
Zreebs says
I haven’t heard anything about Keyes in a decade or so, although Wikipedia indicates that he is NOT a Trump supporter.
I do not know whether he still lives in Illinois. If he is, I do not recall hearing about him.
