I have written several post’s on this subject here….
They all say the same thing….
The issue of people coming across the US/Mexican border is NOT gonna be solved so easy…
There may NEVER be agreed upon policy passed by Congress…
(There are even problems in the House with a narrow Democratic majority…The Biden admin has been warned by border House Democrats to be careful with the issue)
President Biden like every modern day President is going to have to do his ‘own’ policy moves while he is in office…
And he has begun to….
His policy can expected to be changed as soon as he leaves office….
But for now?
Anything from Congress isn’t gonna happen…
No surprise in that….
Top House Democrats have promised to put key immigration bills on the floor this month — but President Joe Biden’s sweeping overhaul won’t be one of them.
The issue of what to do with Biden’s comprehensive immigration plan has bedeviled Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her leadership team, particularly after a disappointing whip count came back this week showing they don’t yet have the votes to pass the bill on the floor, according to people familiar with the talks.
So now Democrats are moving ahead with an alternative plan: Move the Biden bill through committee while the full House votes on more targeted immigration legislation that already enjoys broad caucus support.
The chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), confirmed the path forward, calling the Biden proposal both “important and serious.”
“We need to engage in some consultation with key members and stakeholders, but I see no reason why we wouldn’t mark it up when we reconvene in April,” Nadler said in a statement to POLITICO.
Biden’s proposal is a top priority for progressives and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, who say it’s critical to take action in the early months of his term. But Democratic leaders were never going to bring up a bill on the floor that would fail — putting them on a tightrope as they try to keep all factions of their diverse caucus on board for a realistic approach to one of Washington’s thorniest issues. Further complicating matters, the White House has taken more of a hands-off approach to the bill’s future in the House, several lawmakers and aides said….
Note…
One should get used to blaring media headlines about bills passed in the Democratic House…
Most of these bill’s as during the Trump admin?
Are going nowhere….
The Democrats simply do NOT have the support in the Senate even with VP Harris as a possible tie breaker….
Biden does NOT support getting rid of the super majority filibuster rule that could come back to haunt Democrats if they lose control of the Senate in the future…

CNN with more on the complexities of the US Immigration situation…
The Biden administration is facing an increasing number of unaccompanied migrant children crossing into the United States, placing added strain on a system operating under limited capacity due to the coronavirus pandemic.
US Customs and Border Protection has attributed the increase in arrests in part to instability in home countries, exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic and perceptions of instant shifts in US immigration policies…

This from the WashPost….
President Biden will soon send top advisers to the border to assess the inflow and report back their findings, the White House said Friday. Although Department of Homeland Security officials have warned internally that the largest migration wave in more than two decades could arrive in the coming months, Biden officials have not said publicly what new legal or enforcement tactics they are considering, if any, to slow it.
Biden squeezed on immigration policy, bracing for border crisis
Theresa Cardinal Brown, an immigration analyst at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, said the administration is treating the strain as a logistical and operational problem, “but whether they see it as a political problem is a different question.”
“Biden ran on being the anti-Trump,” she said. “He made clear that an emphasis on deterrence was not what he was going to do, and he got elected. So I think using enforcement as a primary means of managing what is happening at border is not what he wants to do.”…
…
“One thing the U.S. government does not control is how many people arrive and where,” said Cardinal Brown of the Bipartisan Policy Center, adding that administrations of both parties have failed do develop and solidify emergency response plans for migration surges. “Every time this happens, it’s like we’re making this up all over again.”
Cardinal Brown said Biden is also coping with what amounts to pent-up demand produced by years of deterrent measures.
“Trump’s answer was keep everyone out, but that didn’t mean there were fewer people wanting to migrate,” she said. “It just meant they were waiting for their time.”

The Biden administration on Thursday formally rescinded the Trump-era “public charge” rule, which tightened restrictions on poorer immigrants seeking U.S. residency, as a dozen GOP state attorneys general scrambled to preserve it.
The move by Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to repeal his predecessor’s policy seemed, at least for the moment, to calm the controversy that surrounded the measure this week.
“Today, DHS closed the book on the public charge rule,” Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of Homeland Security, said in a statement…
