This joins the other situations/stories about other American President’s that got sick, but hid the severity of their conditions from the media and the public…
Trump was so sick and people around him so worried that he was given a Regeneron antibody cocktail , something the White House people had to personally get FDA emergency approval for the then President…
President Donald J. Trump was sicker with Covid-19 in October than publicly acknowledged at the time, with extremely depressed blood oxygen levels at one point and a lung problem associated with pneumonia caused by the coronavirus, according to four people familiar with his condition.
His prognosis became so worrisome before he was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center that officials believed he would need to be put on a ventilator, two of the people familiar with his condition said.
The people familiar with Mr. Trump’s health said he was found to have lung infiltrates, which occur when the lungs are inflamed and contain substances such as fluid or bacteria. Their presence, especially when a patient is exhibiting other symptoms, can be a sign of an acute case of the disease. They can be easily spotted on an X-ray or scan, when parts of the lungs appear opaque, or white.
Mr. Trump’s blood oxygen level alone was cause for extreme concern, dipping into the 80s, according to the people familiar with his evaluation. The disease is considered severe when the blood oxygen level falls to the low 90s…
…
The former president resisted being taken from the White House to Walter Reed, relenting when aides told him that he could walk out on his own, or risk waiting until the U.S. Secret Service was forced to carry him out if he got sicker, two people familiar with the events said.
While Mr. Trump was hospitalized at Walter Reed, his medical team sought to downplay the severity of the situation, saying that he was on an upswing. At 74 and overweight, he was at risk for severe disease, and was prescribed an aggressive course of treatments. He left the hospital after three days in which he at one point staged a brief ride in his armored sport-utility vehicle to wave at the crowd of supporters outside the building.
…
In the weeks after his hospitalization, Mr. Trump was convinced that the Regeneron treatment had saved his life, telling aides, “I’m proof it works.”
That line became a running joke among top health officials, who would ask each other whether anyone was going to break it to Mr. Trump that he was in fact a failed clinical trial result for Regeneron, since the aim is to prevent people from being hospitalized after receiving it, one former senior administration official said….

CG says
Joe Biden is President today because of Regeneron.
Scott P says
Trump dying of COVID would have depressed his turnout. They would have thought it made him look “weak”
jamesb says
He maybe a dirtbag…..
But I don’t need him gone that way….
Scott P says
I don’t either. I wish Trump had left more quietly, but not that quietly.
CG says
but you were openly gleeful when David Koch, who did far more for humanity and good causes than DJT could ever dream of doing, passed away….
But yes, we should put aside all sort of differences, political and otherwise, to wish almost anybody well health-wise amid struggles, no matter how flawed a person they might be, including those like Rush Limbaugh and Harry Reid.
Scott P says
Rush Limbaugh called the violent mob that killed a Capitol police officer “patriots”–yet you compare him to Harry Reid. Pretty despicable.
And you are reaching her. I wasn’t “openly gleeful” when David Koch died. But I didn’t mourn him either. So you did and we just refused to join you. That was your choice. I don’t regret the choice I made not to. Far better people than him die every day. Koch donated a lot of his scratch to different charities. So what? Far more citizens of this Earth have been hurt by his anti-environmental and pro-rich at the expense of the rest of us advocacy.
And yeah, when Limbaugh croaks I won’t shed a damn tear. Not a one. If you will go ahead. He’s a piece of shit. And a soon to be dead one. Fuck him.

CG?
Please provide a link for anywhere it says Joe Biden has ‘taken’ the Regeneron drugs?
It appears it was ‘offered’ to Biden , who has had two shots of the Pfizer vaccine (So has Harris and her husband and Jill Biden) and has not had the Covid virus…
Scott P says
Not to speak for CG but I think he means that Regeneron saved Trump’s life and had he died CG thinks Biden would have lost.
I’m not so sure.
Trump cultists might think Pence had him murdered.
Also, as I noted, Trump living through COVID helped him with his asshole base. They see it as proof of his machismo. Dying would have taken that away and they likely just wouldn’t have voted.
jamesb says
Indeed Scott….
CG says
Yeah, you totally missed my point james. It is one that I have raised before. “For better or worse”, an incumbent Mike Pence would have beaten Joe Biden. Based on how the election result came down, and how Republicans did down ballot, running stronger than Trump, which sort of negates Scott’s argument, there are a lot of Republicans who would have won. The election was a referendum on Trump though, as it should be, and the bottom line is that he was a miserable failure on what was by far the biggest issue of the day.
Now, had I been speaking about medical treatment that allowed Biden to become President, I would mention the hair plugs.
We should also of course look back at Biden’s biography and realize that he came very close to death in 1988 from an aneurysm Had he still been an active candidate at the time, it might have been too late for him.
Scott P says
A lot of those down ballot Republicans did better than expected because Trump’s people turned out for him. While they were voting of course they were going to vote for Republicans down the ballot. What Democrats running did Trump say anything nice about?
If Trump is deceased do all of those rabid Trumpers even show up to vote? They didn’t in Georgia when he wasn’t on the ballot.
jamesb says
Thanks Scott…
CG stuck OUT on that one…
CG says
No james. You need to do a better job of understanding things.
My point was OBVIOUSLY that Trump had taken powerful drugs allowing him to live and be defeated in disgrace like few incumbent Presidents ever had. You somehow got it twisted to think that I was saying Biden was saved from Covid. Ludicrious.
CG says
Regarding the theoreticals of Biden vs. Pence, as I have said said before, we will never know of course, but one just needs to look at the exit polls, and look at the favorable/unfavorable numbers of Trump, Biden, and Pence.
Pence had significantly better numbers in this regard than Trump, and as we know, Trump came close enough in some states to win had things been somewhat different (I am not saying Pence would have won the popular vote) The favorable/unfavorable numbers between Pence and Biden were nearly the same.
If Trump had died (or even just quit), Pence, upon being sworn in and automatically taking a different tone and acting different than Trump, would have seen somewhat of a boost.
Some Trump die-hards may have stayed home (and perhaps some degree of them may have even voted for Biden, as they did when they voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012) but generally speaking there was enough concern over Democrats and the specter of them being too far to the left that would have still had a lot of people voting against them.
CG says
Looking at the map, at the very least it would have been no better than 273-265 for Biden.
CG says
At this point in time, with Trump not having died, but being defeated instead, many of his fans are now saying they will never vote again period or will never vote Republican.
But that was not what the theoretical was about.
As long as DJT draws breath, he remains, as he has been since 2015, the greatest political entity Democrats have going for them.
CG says
People voted for Biden and also voted to send a Republican to Congress or for local office.
Had Trump not been on the ballot, turnout would have been down both ways of course. Had Trump not been on the ballot, Republicans would have done even better.
Georgia was different because it was a runoff, and those always have lower turnouts. Always, and because Trump associates were basically telling people it was all rigged and the vote did not matter.
Of course, had Perdue and Loeffler been allowed to move on from Trump after his loss, they would have likely won.
jamesb says
I disagree on Pence beating Biden….
The residual Trumpism would have been just as strong as it is today….
Probably STRONGER...
Democrats STILL would have turned out…
Don’t duck….
Biden did NOT take the other drugs…
CG says
I never said anything about Biden taking drugs for Covid. You concocted that in your head.
Had Pence suddenly became President of a “mourning nation”, I think he probably would have won a close election. Enough Republicans and Independents who voted for Biden simply because they could not stomach Trump, would have voted for Pence, even without enthusiasm.
Would I have voted for Penec in this circumstance? I honestly do not know. But had Trump died instead of acting like a complete psychopathic fool after contacting the virus, I would have not voted for Biden.
