The guy maybe carrying a Nursing Home data numbers miscue on his back….And more people know how thin skinned he is….
But….
Most New Yorkers accept and like how he has steered the state thru the pandemic and how he’s doing his job….
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s approval rating dropped modestly in recent weeks, according to a Morning Consult poll released on Monday. But it remains high compared with polls taken before the pandemic hit about a year ago.
The poll found that 57 percent of voters approve of Cuomo’s job performance and 38 percent disapprove. That’s based on 3,203 responses received from Feb. 12-21, immediately after the Feb. 11 publication of a New York Post story detailing his administration’s decision to withhold data about the deaths of nursing home residents.
That figure is down from the 63-33 Cuomo polled in a pair of Morning Consult surveys released in late January and earlier this month.
But it’s still a big jump from the pre-pandemic days. Morning Consult had Cuomo polling at 47-42 at the end of 2019 and 49-40 around the time he coasted to a third term in 2018.
Among Democrats, likely the most crucial voting bloc should Cuomo run for reelection next year, when he’ll be sure to face a primary challenge, the number who “strongly approve” of Cuomo’s performance has fallen from 42 percent to 33 percent since late January. But the number who either “strongly approve” or “somewhat approve” remained high at 81 percent….

This new Marist poll is far worse for for Cuomo

The poll almost mirrors the poll in my post…
50% approval overall….
There is NOBODY. That can touch those numbers right now to seriously run against him…
And the numbers seem to be BETTER then his numbers where the last time he ran for office…
Concerned?
Yup
Worried?
Nope
CG says
Going from 63-57 and 66-49 are not the same.
One is a 6 point dip, the other is 17, which is nearly three times six,
But you will be stubborn of course and say that 6 and 17 mirror each other or that 57 and 49 are basically the same number.
Cuomo would be wise to not run for another term. It never works out well for NY Governors who try to stick around for too long. He should know that well.
CG says
Of course, as is always the case, these things have a snowball effect, as people talk to their relatives and neighbors, etc, so the next batch of polls for Cuomo, minus some kind of major headline swing, are likely to be worse.
jamesb says
I said ‘almost’ CG….
Yes he should be concerned…
jamesb says
Cuomo at this time WILL RUN and have little to no problem….

A former Cuomo aide is now accusing him of repeated sexual harassment:

Cuomo pile on happening..
Right now it’s NOT enough for him to worry
But he should be concerned…
He is announcing virus reopening’s every day to try to blunt the knocks
CG says
Worry no but concern yes. That’s a weird mantra.
I have a hunch this all winds up for Cuomo very badly in a relatively short period of time, similar to the end of Matt Lauer’s career.
jamesb says
Not me…..
I could be wrong..
But he HAS done a fairly good job..
Even if he IS thin skinned…
CG says
There’s this thing called the #meetoo movement that you may or may not have heard of.
CG says
Needless to say, either this woman, who is currently a Democrat candidate for Manhattan Borough President, is a complete liar, or Cuomo should resign as Governor.
Scott P says
Don’t worry. Cuomo is a Democrat had he did anything remotely wrong you’ll get your resignation. It’s not like he’s a Republican.
CG says
It does not always work that way. Ralph Northam (and the Lt. Governor as well there) have managed to stay on, while of course Eric Greitens was thrown out in Missouri, and I of course said he should resign as well.
jamesb says
Oh like Kavaneuh or Trump?
Frankel was the only dummy
CG says
A comparison to Kavanaugh is something only you would really attempt. Most of you guys would concede how embarrassing that incident was for Democrats.
Cuomo is being accused of physical and emotional misconduct while in office. If he did it, he should resign. Do you think his accuser is lacking all credibility?
The Franken allegations were pretty similar in regards to unwanted kissing, although they came from more than one woman, but did not involve anyone who worked directly for him, so in some ways, this is even more serious.
As for Trump, he was accused of things before he was President and of course you know I never thought he should be President. He was also twice impeached and defeated in disgrace.
CG says
I mentioned a couple of days ago that Michael Madigan managed to engineer his State House replacement (after 50 years) in Illinois with a previously unheard of 26 year old ward worker.
Now, after three days as a State Rep., Madigan’s successor has resigned after some “questionable conduct” was alleged from his past.
But of course, Madigan knew nothing about that when he gave this guy a job.
Three days is even less than the Mooch lasted in the White House.

If the Office of the Governor was a business, then an immediate investigation would be made on whether sexual harassment was present in the workplace. If determined to be present, then some discipline would definitely occur, perhaps termination.
But one comment “Let’s play strip poker” (that was clearly an inappropriate bad joke on a plane) would by itself not likely to get someone fired. And having the knees close, but not touching is very commonplace on a plane – unless you are in first class.
Human Resources would and should notify a person that made that comment that it is unacceptable and if a similar comment is made again, it is grounds for termination. It seems reasonable that the same standards that apply in business should apply in government.
CG says
She alleges far more happened than that, on numerous occasions.
Scott P says
Fine. He can resign. Still Hawley and Cruz did much worse. They won’t resign and Republicans don’t care.
Scott P says
I totally understand why a once snd future Republican loves a story like this at a time like this so enjoy.
jamesb says
Donald Trump IS PRESENTLY being sued for unwanted sexual advances…
jamesb says
Concern
Not Worry….
Scott P says
Until Republican politicians resign for encouraging violent overthrow of our government I don’t give a shit if any politician resigns over sexual impropriety.
If anyone else gets excited over this scandal have at it.

It hasn’t ended well for recent New York Governors…I think Cuomo is quickly headed down that path…the blood is in the water and the sharks are circling…now it’s time for the media to make its money by ramping up the negative Cuomo reporting, which will find some legs…not sure if it is enough to take him all the way out of office, but certainly don’t think he is going to run again anyway…he had a few terms, and his presidential aspirations are certainly dwindling by the second…
Minus the nursing home issue, he did better than most governors during the pandemic seeing as we were clobbered first, but I never liked the mob boss persona he has…seems more like a grease ball good fella than a governor.
jamesb says
I agree the guy IS thin skinned….
But he was had worst numbers last time I believe and he pulled it off…
