SCOOP: NIKKI HALEY reached out to former President DONALD TRUMP on Wednesday to request a sit-down at Mar-a-Lago, but a source familiar tells Playbook that he turned her down. The two haven’t spoken since the insurrection on Jan. 6, when Haley blasted Trump for inciting his supporters to storm the Capitol.
The snub comes on the heels of Tim Alberta’s deep dive in POLITICO Magazine last week on Haley’s presidential ambitions and how she’s trying to have it both ways with Trump.
Channeling George Costanza in mid-December, Haley refused to confront Trump over his election lies because he believed they were true. “I understand the president. I understand that genuinely, to his core, he believes he was wronged,” Haley told Alberta. “This is not him making it up.”
After Jan. 6, Haley changed her tune.
“I think he’s going to find himself further and further isolated,” Haley said of the defeated president. “I think his business is suffering at this point. I think he’s lost any sort of political viability he was going to have. I think he’s lost his social media, which meant the world to him. I mean, I think he’s lost the things that really could have kept him moving.”
And: “I don’t think he’s going to be in the picture,” she said, matter-of-factly. “I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far.”
Haley tried to recover Thursday with a damage-control op-ed in the WSJ wrapped in blame-the-media rhetoric. But Trump, apparently, isn’t having it.
Haley reps didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment….

Why meet with Trump?Like does she think he would ever further her presidential ambitions?Hell he wouldn’t have done that ,even if she hadn’t made those remarks about him.
I don’t think he ever cared for her.Just gave her the UN job so his buddy McMaster could be Governor.
Despite incredible support from Perdue and Loeffler, Trump largely sat out the Georgia Senate races. When he showed up at a rally, he promoted himself more than them.
So Haley wants to talk with Trump and convince him she is with him? Haley will get the Jeff Sessions treatment. She will need to bow to him, praise him, and hope that he only insults her on a weekly basis. That is the best she will get.
Trump always makes it about himself. When he called in to FOX News on the death of the dead doper who paved the way for a gasbag like himself to become a Republican politician the news coverage of the call was all about how Trump lied about the election. No one remembers what he said about the dead guy. Which is just as well.
On the one hand she would have been dangerous because I think she could have appealed to middle class women…but on the other hand she is DOA in trump world…so she is fucked…ain’t going to be serious player in 2024…probably pole low 5%
All these Republicans who have been bad mouthing Trump have been gambling that Republicans will turn on him.
So far that hasn’t happened.
When Nikki issued her broadside ,I presumed she had calculated that such was going to happen in the future and that she would emerge as their champion.However, after essentially declaring her independence from the cult to then cynically seek a “meeting “ with the one she had consigned to irrelevancy was not a good look.
Along with “Cancun Cruz” Nikki is definitely stumbling out of the gate for 2024.As I’ve pointed out though,Nikki has no core beliefs and will reinvent herself
Speaking of Carnival Cruz he said if he knew how it would be perceived he wouldn’t have flown to Cancun.
So after blaming his kids now he now regrets how it played–not that he left his state in it’s time of need.
At the least this has ruined any Presidential prospects he had.
I had the tv on in the background yesterday and was half watching an interview. The interviewee was asked why people hate Cruz instantly and he responded that most people don’t like to waste time.
Haley needs time….
But I just do NOT see her as the head of the Republican Party that practices anti-women and minority agenda’s….
