The West Virginia Senator says he will vote against the confirmation of Biden’s choice of Neera Tanden for the Office of Management and Budget….Reason?….Her criticism ‘s of Republicans?…
Manchin IS a Democrat ….
President Biden thinks he can pull a few Republicans to get around his fellow Democrat Manchin….
Biden IS going have to be able work some kind of magic with a few Republicans …
Manchin could single handily give Republicans and McConnell the Senate majority inspite of the 50/50 US Senate party numbers that Vice President Harris makes things a thin majority….
Manchin IS gonna be a problem for Biden and Democrats for the next two years…
President Biden told reporters Friday he believes there are enough votes to confirm Neera Tanden to lead the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) despite Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) saying he would oppose her nomination.
“I think we are going to find the votes and get her confirmed,” Biden told reporters at Joint Base Andrews following a trip to the Pfizer vaccine manufacturing plant in Michigan. The White House also said it would not pull Tanden’s nomination.
“Neera Tanden is an accomplished policy expert who would be an excellent Budget Director and we look forward to the committee votes next week and to continuing to work toward her confirmation through engagement with both parties,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said….
…
“I believe her overtly partisan statements will have a toxic and detrimental impact on the important working relationship between members of Congress and the next director of the Office of Management and Budget,” Manchin said. “For this reason, I cannot support her nomination.”…
Tanden, a former staffer to then-Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), built a reputation for partisan warfare on Twitter as the head of the Center for American Progress.
Republicans in two confirmation hearings last week skewered Tanden for her previous tweets, many of which she recently deleted.
She has repeatedly apologized for the tweets, some of which compared Republicans to evil fictional characters.
“I regret that language and take responsibility for it,” she said at one of the committee hearings, promising to take a different tone as budget chief.
In her tweets, Tanden compared Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel (R-Ky.) to Voldemort, said that vampires had more heart than Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), called Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) “the worst,” and referred to then-Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Arizona) as “criminally ignorant.”
Tanden’s defenders accused Republicans complaining about rhetoric on Twitter of hypocrisy, citing former President Trump‘s incendiary comments on the social networking site before his account was suspended.
Trump referred to various critics as “crazy,” “corrupt,” “little,” and “low-IQ,” among other rude nicknames and insults….
Note…
Manchin’s last ‘upset’ moment was when Vice President Harris spoke to the media in his native state without ‘his’ pre-approval….

Update….
This is NOT looking good for Tanden…
She is losing the very Republicans that Biden would asking to support her….
Romney and Collins are joining Manchin against confirming Tanden as Biden looks for one or two Republicans to Gert past Manchin for confirmation…
…
On the bright side for Biden and Tanden….
Conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt on Monday called for the Senate to confirm Neera Tanden as Office of Budget and Management director after several key centrist senators have said they will vote against her nomination.
In an op-ed for The Washington Post, Hewitt said that though he had suffered “Tanden-inflicted scars” in controversial tweets Tanden had sent while serving as the head of the liberal Center for American Progress, he thought that senators voting against her over tweets would be punishing political opinions.
“She’s a serious left-liberal, though not as far to the left as Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, so she’s left some marks on Team Sanders as well. She should also be confirmed as OMB director,” Hewitt wrote…
