People who would be leaving in 12 days are leaving their jobs today….
Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney on Thursday resigned from his post as the special envoy to Northern Ireland following the riot on the U.S. Capitol.
“I can’t stay here, not after yesterday,” Mulvaney said in an appearance on CNBC. “You can’t look at that yesterday and say I want to be a part of that in any way shape or form.”
His resignation follows that of some other notable White House aides in the aftermath of the violence, including Stephanie Grisham, chief of staff to first lady Melania Trump, and deputy national security adviser Matt Pottinger….

Additional aides are reportedly considering resigning, including national security adviser Robert O’Brien, who broke with Trump earlier in the day by tweeting his support for Vice President Pence stating that he could not unilaterally reject electors for President-elect Joe Biden.
NBC News reported Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao is also considering resigning. Chao is married to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
The wave of departures, combined with condemnations from some Trump allies, amount to a clear rebuke of the president’s behavior on what may be the darkest day of his presidency….
“It has not escaped my attention that the day social media companies decided there actually IS more they could do to police Trumps destructive behavior was the same day they leaned Democrats would chair all the Congressional committees that oversee them.”

As this continues, Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf released a statement today saying Trump must denounce violence or something like that, and in retaliation Trump pulled his symbolic nomination to be the actual Secretary
