As the FBI and media go after and identify the people in Capitol protest and wildingout?
It becomes clearer that early ideals on the groups protesting…. then trespassing and committing vandalism…. and looking to do harm to lawmakers…. and committing violence that resulted in several death’s…. where wrong…
The group was mixture of Trump supporters AND extremist group people…
Indeed?
The lawmakers where lucky, as was Vice President pence who reports said some in the crowds wanted to hang….
They all have become the hunted by Federal law Enforcement as possible domestic torrorists….
As rioters laid siege to the U.S. Capitol, the seat of American democracy became a melting pot of extremist groups: militia members, white supremacists, paramilitary organizations, anti-maskers and fanatical supporters of President Donald Trump, standing shoulder to shoulder in rage.
Experts say it was the culmination of years of increasing radicalization and partisanship, combined with a growing fascination with paramilitary groups and a global pandemic. And they warn that the armed insurrection that left five people dead and shook the country could be just the beginning.
“We look at it like a conveyor belt of radicalization,” said Devin Burghart, executive director of the Institute for Research & Education on Human Rights. “Once they step on that conveyor belt, they’re inundated with propaganda that moves them along that path until they’re willing to take up arms.”
Photographs and video of the Capitol siege showed people wearing attire with symbols associated with the anti-government Three Percenters movement and the Oath Keepers, a loosely organized group of right-wing extremists.
Many of those who stormed the Capitol were wearing clothes or holding signs adorned with symbols of the QAnon conspiracy theory, which centers on the baseless belief that Trump is waging a secret campaign against the “deep state” and a cabal of sex-trafficking cannibals. One of the intruders was wearing a “Camp Auschwitz” sweatshirt, a reference to the Nazi death camp.
Those who monitor online chatter say the threat of more violence by far-right fringe groups hasn’t abated, though it has been tougher to track since the social media platform Parler, a haven for right-wing extremists, was booted off the internet….

Really?
That’s interesting.
Since Republicans equate Black Lives Matters and Antifa with the Democrats.(Many BLM members and almost all who call themselves “Antifa oppose Democrats as vigorously as Republicans)
It would seem only uh “fair” to equate this motley crew with the Republicans right?
Anyway they were all there in support of Donald Trump, the Republican President of the United States.Further, does anyone believe any of these people were voting for Democrats?Dumb, stupid!
Zreebs says
I suspect James posted this as his way of attacking me for in one of my posts calling it the “Republican insurrection”. CG complained that was unfair and I subsequently changed it to the Trump insurrection- which is technically more accurate because as CG and James post frequently, there are literally are some Republicans out there that don’t like Trump.
But James’ comment “The group was a mixture of Trump supporters AND extremist group people” is confusing to me as to what he could possibly mean. Is it possible that there was some extremist group person there among the thousands of participants that did not support Trump for President? probably, but none of them preferred Biden.
Let me phrase it this way. I wonder if James would ever write the following sentence:
“The group was a mixture of Sander’s supporters AND extremist group people…”

Hey Z?
Call’m whatever U want…..
You call even call’m domestic terrorists…
Zreebs says
They are domestic terrorists. Do you not agree?
jamesb says
Most certainly the Wednesday group DID contain a good amount of Domestic ‘terrorists’

And it was all Republican!

He lied about the election being fixed. He incited an attack that left five dead at the U.S Capitol. He got impeached.Twice .But polling indicates Republicans still have his back by vast majorities,Axios reports.
“Anyone who thinks Trump is a politically dead man appears pointedly dead wrong.”
QAnon reshaped Trumps Party and radicalized believers …

The four people who died due to the riot were Trump supporters who broke into the Capitol. I think it is sad they died, but if they are truly “domestic terrorists” first and foremost, does that not mitigate it for some of you?
Also, I am mostly saddened by the horrific death of Officer Sicknick, in the service of his country. In my view, he should be viewed as a hero, However, according to his family, he was also a strong Trump supporter. If as has been suggested by *some*, that all Trump supporters are “evil”, do you give him a pass?
My Name Is Jack says
I think it’s sad when anyone dies .
Don’t you?
And of course this has nothing to do with the above post.
CG says
I think it is sad and believe you do as well, but others here have indicated a far different standard.
Let’s put aside the rioters who got killed in the “battle”, can Offiecr Sicknick, also formerly of the U.S. military, have been both a strong Trump supporter and a decent, patriotic American?
I disagree with his Trump support but certainly think he was likely a patriot.
Zreebs says
I don’t know Officer Sicknick (who grew up close to where I grew up), so I can’t comment on what type of person he is, but yes, of course he is a patriot.
CG says
So Zreebs, in theory, someone can be a strong Trump supporter and not also be “evil?”
Is there such a thing as an “evil patriot?” I would find that harder to reconcile.
Zreebs says
I never said that all Trump supporters were evil. I even recently gave the example of the woman from Boise who voted for Trump but called on NPR and asked “Did Trump lie to me?”
I feel you have been taking me out off context a lot lately.
CG says
We both may feel that way Zreebs about context. I will always try to do the best I can, but that is how it came across. The other night you gave a blanket denunciation of all Trump voters which led to me to ask the theoretical about if you would need to know the voting history of a home health aide.
I think you get worked up painting with a broad brush, but then when you have to think about it, you realize you are not as “black and white” as you think on matters like that.
I also am reminded that for months on here, without any pushback from others, one of the posters insisted that one MUST vote for Biden in order to in anyway be considered a decent, patriotic American. I tried to say that there will be patriotic Americans, who will vote for Biden, Trump, and otherwise, but I was the only one willing to say it when the opposite claim was made.
Then lo and behold, I actually did vote for Biden, and besides one complimentary sentence from james and a “now was that so hard?” remark from jack, nobody else said a word I still have my motives and values attacked on here as much as ever!
Zreebs says
CG, Let’s both work better to understand each other. Here are quick thoughts:
1) I do often paint with a broad brush because when I have to qualify everything my point often gets lost. And yes, I know that means my rhetoric is sometimes stronger than I really feel. Perhaps More than anyone you know, I believe there are exceptions to almost any rule, but that doesn’t work well when communicating by writing.
2) The post I made that the Trump voter from Boise was not evil was unsolicited. I was not “forced to think about it”. I made that comment on my own.
3) Until today, I don’t recall a discussion of patriotism by political party. But I would not be inclined to think Democrats are more patriotic than Republicans – although even that is an oversimplification because in some ways I think that Dems are more patriotic. In willingness to fight for the country, I think that Republicans are more patriotic.
CG says
Also, Officer Eugene Goodman should be given the Medal of Freedom and introduced at the next attended SOTU gathering.

Agreed on the Capitol cop that used his brains not his gun…
Scott P says
Who Officer Sicknick voted for is immaterial. He was murdered by Trump supporters trying to overturn the election.
