The fact that Mitch McConnell can use the filibuster to prevent the majority from taking control of the Senate is a pretty good argument against the filibuster.

Does anyone ever think that McConnel might be doing what he’s doing so Dems will eliminate the filibuster? Please stop underestimating McConnell. Also, eliminating filibuster is BAD for Dems. If you think dems won’t end up back in the minority, and soon, you delusional.
It is true that nothing is permanent in politics. McConnell is just trying to ensure the filibuster is not eliminated.

All the Biden/McConnell ‘working together’ is NOT happening right now….
When Democrats were in the minority, they wanted to keep the filibuster of course.
Donald Trump implored Mitch McConnell, when he was Majority Leader to get rid of the filibuster, and McConnell, an institutionalist would not do it.
Consistency should return to politics and the filibuster should remain, just as Chuck Schumer, Joe Biden, and many other Democrats have argued passionately in favor of in the past.
This is a tough one….
Watched PBS News Hour today and David Brooks was on, someone I would call a very soft Republican (especially in these days)…said the Country could not afford for the next two years to continue have the paralysis in Washington that has been since the Obama years…so I feel the Dems should do it and run on their records in 2022…the other option is try to pass these bills (COVID relief) and let the Republicans go on record and filibuster and reject the bills, then resubmit the bill sin reconciliation and pass it with simple majority and go to the American people and again run on your record of helping out Americans while Republicans did everything they could to block you from getting an additional stimulus check…but we got it for you anyway despite their opposition.
Same thing for infrastructure, go big on the proposal, let the all of a sudden budget concerned Republicans block it and then go budget reconciliation and pass it anyway…
