As a political symbol?
Ole Joe’ the the regular guy, taking the Amtrak Train to Washington would be a appealing hit…
You know like Donald Trump doing the entertainment thing?
But THAT was before last Wednesday’s protest wilding out….
Train’s are made of steel, but they are also less secure than a President flying at 30,000 feet over things….
And it sure is cheaper in money and security manpower also….
So?
President-Elect Biden will go along with flying from his home in Delaware to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland again in a US Air Force Blue/White top Special Air Mission’s Boeing Jet, like he did for 8 years and only stopping 4 years ago…
Biden will seldom be in a train in the next 4 years…..
The move to forgo the 90-minute train ride from his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, to Washington was likely not easy for the president-elect. Biden’s preference for riding the train during his 36-year Senate career was such a central part of his public persona that he rode Amtrak home on his final day as vice president, and he used a train tour through Ohio and Pennsylvania during the presidential campaign as part of an effort to appeal to blue-collar workers.
Biden became known for riding the train starting from his very earliest days in the Senate, when he made a point to return home nearly every night to help raise his young sons after his wife and young daughter died in a car accident in 1972. His embrace of Amtrak — and the friends he made among the train conductors and staff as a regular — was featured in a short film that aired during the Democratic National Convention last August.
The train ride is not the only security-related development surrounding the inauguration.
On Wednesday, Biden received a briefing from FBI officials, the Secret Service and his national security team about the potential for additional violence in the coming days….

Sort of related–I heard a lot of these Trump nuts were trying to get laid while in DC last week on dating apps like Tinder and Bumble. A few local ladies changed their preferences to “conservative” and saw all profile pics of these numb nuts in the Capitol last Wednesday. They saved the messages and sent to the FBI.
Not all heroes wear capes
CG says
Hook up app descriptions aside, there was nothing “conservative” about the Insurrection attempt.

The vast majority of those who call themselves “conservative” don’t care about these think pieces.
Zreebs says
I suspect most of the seditionists would call themselves conservative, but you probably know these people better than me.
CG says
The fact of the matter is, whatever they might try to label themselves (“patriots” or whatnot), they are Alinksy-style radicals.
People like me are actual conservatives with consistent positions and values, which is why I am as respected here as I am.
Zreebs says
There is nothing conservative about a tax cut without a corresponding spending cut when you already have a ballooning deficit.
And there is nothing conservative about subsiding the coal industry.
jamesb says
Call it politics?
Keith says
Or farmers, especially when an ill conceived trade war puts them in financial difficulties.
Scott P says
Bumble is like everywhere else. The people who call themselves “conservative” are overwhelmingly Pro Trump.
Think pieces like this aside.
CG says
Bumble is an apt word for the Trump era.
Scott P says
After the Trump inspired coup attempt so is Tinder.
Keith says
That’s wonderful Scott.
Do we think Trump has the staff band width any longer to pardon these Republican terrorists before he leaves office?
Shall we all make predictions as to who he will actually pardon besides himself?
Imagine, after every crime this asshole has committed and 197 Republicans yesterday voted to find him innocent of sedition.
Keith says
It now seems that large transfers of dark money Republican groups to the terrorists on the Mall have been discovered.
Let the nitpicking whataboutism begin in their attempt, as a Party, to assist in sedition and distance from what they did.
Now Republicans want to move on. For the Tom Cotton’s of the world who want to “move on and come together” I have one word, “Benghazi!”

Joe Biden has picked Jaime Harrison as the new DNC Chair. Not a huge surprise.
Harrison seems like an energetic personable guy, and definitely raised a lot of money for his race. Of course, he lost that race, by a wider margin than anticipated. He also does not exactly have a track record of getting Democrats elected in South Carolina, from when he was the Chair down there. They nominated candidates that caused folks like jack to cast ballots for red hat wearing MAGA bootlickers.
But Harrison gets to leave SC now.
My Name Is Jack says
Speaking of MAGA red hat wearing bootlickers,
One ,whom you declared awhile back as a likely Republican presidential nominee in 2024,Nikki “the political chameleon” Haley has set up a PSC for her expected run.
CG says
If she is nominated, it will signal a definite shift in the party. Right now, the Trump folks HATE her. Of course she has been trying to have it both ways on Trump for years now, and that usually comes back to bite people.
Scott P says
Does Haley support impeachment?
CG says
Privately, almost certainly.
My Name Is Jack says
Republicans seem to believe all sorts of things ,privately.
A great trick.
See one can argue that no matter what someone says on the public record ?It doesn’t matter because “really” they believe….
Makes any discussion ultimately irrelevant.
Zreebs says
I agree. If anything has been made abundantly clear by now, most Republicans care more about their own power than anything else. And since Halley is at least thinking’s about the presidency, of course she wants Trump out of the picture.
Scott P says
Doesn’t count for shit.
jamesb says
U have anything on Harrison Jack?
My Name Is Jack says
You know as much as me.
He’s never held political office
He was Chair of the S.C. Democratic Party.
Ran for the Senate in 2020,collected a lot of money but lost to Lindsay Graham by a greater than expected margin.
As I’ve stated here on several occasions,I haven’t been active in party politics in years.I don’t know Harrison .
jamesb says
Thanks Jack….

President-elect Joe Biden is tapping former South Carolina Democratic Party chair Jaime Harrison to lead the Democratic National Committee, according to three people familiar with the decision, a major victory for state party heads and the powerful House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn….
