Attorney General William Barr on Tuesday said there has been no evidence of widespread voter fraud that would change the outcome of the election, undercutting President Trump‘s repeated baseless claims to the contrary.
“To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election,” Barr told the Associated Press in an interview.
Barr told the wire service that U.S. attorneys and FBI agents have been following up on specific complaints following the election, but have yet to discover anything on a scale that would overturn President-elect Joe Biden‘s victory….

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) declared the 2020 election the “most secure in American history” last month. Trump fired its now-former director, Chris Krebs, for the statement.
Michigan, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Wisconsin are among the states that have certified Biden as the winner but where Trump is contesting the results.
Barr’s comments are his first about the integrity of the election, and they mark the latest stinging rebuke of Trump’s efforts to undermine the results. Barr had said before the election he was concerned about the security of widespread mail-in ballots, suggesting they could be manipulated by foreign powers….

Barr knew he had a Constitutional duty to do his job and tell the truth on this, even if it means that Trump fires him or calls him fat on Twitter.
Sure, it should be an easy call for someone entrusted with his job to do that, but clearly just about every prominent Republican (outside of Rudy Giuliani) has pretty much signified that Donald Trump is over. Every one is eventually going to move on without him. Nobody claimed it would happen overnight or be complete on 1/20, but 1/20 is going to be a benchmark for many. The Georgia runoffs two weeks before will be an earlier one.

You cannot blame lifelong and future partisan Democrats for not wanting Trump to go away. I completely understand why they want him to stick around and somehow be the face of the Republican Party for years and years to come.
It’s not impossible that might happen, but the odds are against it and I think they realize that too.

That’s not at all true. I have been complaining about aspects of the Republican Party for years. Trumpism is the problem and has caused quite an infection.
I always made it clear that I would have supported any other nominee in 2016 but Trump, even though there were some complete duds in that field.

More speculation. It’s quite possible Trump was the only Republican who could have won in 2016. The GOP is not good at winning Presidential elections lately.

The exit polls from 2016 speak for themselves (and also could be applied to 2020.) A “normal” Republican would have easily won in 2016 over Hillary.

Yes it is all hindsight speculation, but if Trump never runs, a lot of his primary voters instead vote for Bernie in the Democrat primaries and he probably would have been nominated in 2016.

Just remember before the election how all these people on the left would say he would signify that he would not leave peacefully and the Proud Boys and militias, with the support of the Trump Justice Department and elements of the U.S. military would basically have us in a state of Civil War if he refused to concede.

I am still on my local Republican organization’s email list and at about 3 pm yesterday they sent out a notice that a Caucus is being held at 6 30 tonight at a local banquet hall to officially nominate candidates for the township elections to be held in April. Apparently doing this means that a primary does not have to occur in February.
They have done this before, but clearly waited until the last minute to “announce” the caucus. I will not be going obviously and I wonder how this can even work under Covid protocols indoors.

James, Barr saying there is no Fraud has nothing to do with with who owns the Republican Party…Barr is ultimately a prosecutor, the head prosecutor in this country…he can’t say there was fraud if there was none, because if he says there was fraud, then he needs to investigate and prosecute, but you can’t investigate if there is no evidence and you can’t prosecute without evidence…but to who owns the Republican Party Heart???
