But more than anything?
We have watched an American President look down on us and try to erase OUR place in this country to elevate HIS ego and power….
It is NOT to be….
Americans’ almost a week ago voted for the ‘change’ every President advertises ….
Joe Biden, the old timer, that IS the system, IS the choice….
A man who ‘cares’ about EVERYONE….
A man who thru his life has reached out and shown an empathy and sympathy for those who voices might NOT have been heard….
A man who worked for the nation’s first Black/mixed President and, will have as a partner in governing the first woman Black/mixed Vice President…
Racism will take another blow from Joe Biden…
This country is in the grip of a resurgence of virus infections because our current President has ignored it’s presence…
That is about to be over….
The incoming President will address the virus as a issue he needs to deal with for the WHOLE country…
In doing this?
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be able to work to bring the economy back for everyone , not just make the rich…..

I’ve also seen enough on Long Island in #NY01, where Rep. Lee Zeldin (R) is clearly on his way to reelection. And in #NY03, where Rep. Tom Suozzi (D) will easily win when mail ballots are counted.
We’ll see in #NY02, but have to believe Garbarino (R) favored w/ a 44k vote lead.

Astorino lost re-election in the rapidly blueing Westchester in 2017 & a state Senate bid in 2020. Rep. Lee Zeldin (R) has already announced a bid on the GOP side and has already received endorsements of the GOP County organizations in Nassau, Suffolk and Monroe (Rochester and suburbs) Counties as well as 5 smaller upstate counties which would give him enough weighted votes for a majority at the next GOP nominating convention. Zeldin has also raised over $2.5 million since announcing his run 10 days ago. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) is embroiled in multiple scandals and is facing numerous calls to resign….

Yeah looking at past elections it takes a few weeks for the full popular vote picture to emerge.
One clue as to the final percentage difference is that Biden never trailed Trump in the popular vote. Even on Election Night Biden had at least a 1% margin of the votes counted. In 2012 Romney led Obama in Election night in the popular vote. In fact it prompted Trump to tweet that the Electoral College should be abolished since his hated Obama had won 270 Electoral votes while still trailing in the popular vote counted at that time. The final result was 51% Obama 47% Romney.
Biden will likely have a slightly larger spread than that four points. Probably five.

Max Rose should mount a comeback in 2 years. Staten Island is indicative of the kind of place Republican candidates do worse without Trump on the ballot.
It is literally amazing that not a single House Republican incumbent lost. The last time that happened for either party was 1994.
One caveat is that Mike Garcia’s race in California is still undecided, he is up for now, but he just won that seat via special election a few months ago, so it’s sort of an asterisk if he loses.
Also, a seat called on Election Night for an incumbent Democrat in NJ now looks like it might actually go to a Republican as the ballots come in. (I guess that’s not fraud)
Even a slightly traditional midterm for a Democrat President would easily give Republicans the House a majority after 2022 with what the margins look likely to be.
That’s one of the harder things to explain now.
Adding to the oddity is that zero House Republican incumbents lost while 2 Senate ones did and potentially up to four might.
(two of the potential four were not elected but appointed though)
In the House, it looks like up to three Republicans incumbents who lost in 2018 will be coming back with one additional who left voluntarily and now came back
I guess in 2018 Democrats might not have lost a House incumbent but that might have been overshadowed also because they had Senate incumbents who lost.
And I think maybe in 2006 every incumbent Democrat in the House won.

Looking back at old election results–In 1976 Ohio and Mississippi were both won by Carter by fewer than 10,000 votes. Had Ford won both those states ‘ve would have won the Presidency that year.
1976 was a much closer election than is often recognized under the general theme of massive repudiation of the Republican Party — which happened not in 1976 but in the mid-term elections of November 1974, three months after Nixon’s resignation.
With a tiny third-party vote of about 2% [Eugene McCarthy, ind., 0.9%, Liberarians and 2 halves of the AIP 0.2% each, rest at 0.1% or less], Carter joined the fairly small club of Democrats winning more than 50% of the popular vote, but only just, something (pick your source) less than 50.1% and Ford just about 48%.
I myself was sufficiently impressed by Gerald Ford’s achievement in office and sufficiently turned off by Jimmy Carter’s preachy, self-righteous style that it was only on Election Day itself that I decided to put in some GOTV for Carter.
Not that it succeeded, because Ford carried California (where I was living) by 140,000 votes (although only 1.8%).
There was a sharp (but unconventional) regional divide in that election: Texas and Hawaii were the only states west of the Missouri to vote Democratic, while Virginia & Oklahoma were the only Southern or Border states not to support their fellow Southerner. The Great Lakes and Northeast were split.
I was mere minutes from Gerald Ford’s Presidential Library while visiting Western Michigan in September. I would have liked to add it to my list of Presidential libraries I’ve visited (JFK, LBJ, Truman and Lincoln) however they had limited hours and capacity due to COVID. Also we were traveling with the dog and due to the virus were staying outdoors as much as possible (beaches, outdoor breweries etc).
Odd coincidence: my brother was auditioning for an orchestra in (I think) Grand Rapids long before the pandemic, and could have visited the Ford library but it was a little bit far out of town and not free, so he passed up.
I suppose that those two near-misses are appropriate for the not-quite President.
