The city is looking to hire part time cops and and help from other cities that aren’t too excited about THAT….

I never thought the ides was to damn smart or practical in the first place…
Neither has Joe Biden or Kamala Harris….

Nearly six months after George Floyd’s death here sparked massive protests and left a wide swath of the city burned and destroyed, Minneapolis is grappling with dueling crises: an unprecedented wave of violence and droves of officer departures that the Minneapolis Police Department warns could soon leave the force unable to respond to emergencies.
Homicides in Minneapolis are up 50 percent, with nearly 75 people killed across the city so far this year. More than 500 people have been shot, the highest number in more than a decade and twice as many as in 2019. And there have been more than 4,600 violent crimes — including hundreds of carjackings and robberies — a five-year high.
Most of the violence has happened since Floyd’s death on Memorial Day, which some experts attribute in part to the lingering anger over the slaying and the effects of the coronavirus, including job losses and the closure of community centers and other public spaces….
With city budgets being increasingly strained due to the pandemic and ,in some cases ,draconian budget cuts in the offing,
Police Departments ,along with all other municipal services ,are going to take major budget cuts.
Call it what you want…

The REALITY is Biden and Democrats WILL counter the early summer cries to cut back on the safety and security of the citizens….It cost Democrats House seats… and scared a LOT of people….
The idea is actually politically dead….
Oh, and the cops that worked the protests?….
They will go out a buy new cars with the overtime they ALL got paid…..
Even Bernie Sanders disagrees with the slogan of defunding the police.

One thing about the election, Senator, I’m sure you have heard the complaints, the comments from Democrats, moderate Democrats, who say all the talk about at defunding the police, using the term, allowing Republicans to repeatedly accuse Democrats of being socialists hurt Democrats.
And they are saying the idea that you’re going to move to a Green New Deal, that you’re going to move to some form of dramatic form of police reform, that that will only hurt Democrats going forward.
What do you say to your Democratic colleagues about that?
Sen. Bernie Sanders:
First of all, I’m not aware — and maybe I’m wrong on this. I don’t know there are any Democratic candidates who talked about defunding the police.
Do we want police department reform, so that innocent African Americans are not shot and killed? Of course we do. So do the vast majority of the American people.

The settlement was unanimously approved by the Minneapolis City Council on Friday. It’s the largest pre-trial settlement in a civil rights wrongful death case in American history…
