Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), who just landed the chairmanship at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, is among the prospective presidential candidates who have visited Georgia in recent weeks. So are Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and Vice President Pence.
The flurry of visits by national political players isn’t unexpected. Republicans are poised to enter 2021 with a 50-48 advantage in the Senate, meaning that the balance of power in the upper chamber now rests on the outcome of the two Georgia runoffs.
The high stakes give potential 2024 Republicans a chance to show off their leadership chops and political influence at a time when the party is still coming to terms with President Trump’s loss to President-elect Joe Biden in the November election.
“Georgia is kind of a twofer right now,” one GOP operative said. “It’s easy enough to give the excuse that you’re just there trying to protect the Senate majority, but you’re still getting your name and your face out there for if and when you decide to pull the trigger on a campaign.”
None of the Republicans who have visited Georgia so far have said they will run for president in 2024, nor have they announced efforts to explore such a campaign.
But that hasn’t stopped them from trying to strike the tone of a party leader at campaign events for Sens. David Perdue (R-Ga.) and Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.), who are both facing competitive runoff elections against well-funded Democrats on Jan. 5….

Hulk Hogan is more likely to be the GOP nominee than Larry Hogan.
If the Hogans face off in the primary, maybe Ron G. will get in the ring with Jimmy “Mouth of the South” Hart.
If Ron Gunzberger gets to be the campaign manager of a Presidential contender–even one who gets single digits in New Hampshire and drops out–it will be a cool thing to put on his resume.
I don’t think he would be the actual manager, but he’s definitely on the team .He posted today how Hogan endorsed Purdue and Loeffler and said why he did it (without of course saying the connection.)
I think Hogan should consider the third party option right now in regards to 2024. It would make the most sense for him.
Either way–in the GOP primaries or 3rd party–Hogan can look forward to getting vote totals in the low single digits.
That’s what everyone was saying about Trump at one point.
At one point this very year, it looked like Biden did not have a prayer of winning the nomination.
One never knows what will wind up happening these days.

Hogan didn’t have a prayer of becoming Governor of America. Nobody here (myself included) thought he would win right up to Election Day when he did.
Then, he goes as a Republican and gets reelected in an absolute landslide and to this day has approval numbers in the 60s or 70s.
Maybe he should not be underestimated. Everything mentioned though also points to why it might make sense for him to run as as a “centrist” Independent against Kamala and Cotton.
Yeah maybe he will win Maryland.

I mean, what if there are 15 Trumpalikes (all frozen out until the last minute when Trump himself declines) running in the same lane and then Hogan (or someone else) all with the other lane to themselves?
He doesn’t really “look” like a President, but I think far crazier things have happened before, including Jimmy Carter getting nominated in 1976
Then Hogan gets about 5 %-10% of the anti Trump Republican vote.

Blowhard wingnuts were gaining influence in the Republican Party for decades. Trump being nominated was the natural progression of a party that increasingly worshipped egotistical pricks like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, etc.
There’s nothing that would predicate Hogan being either the GOP nominee or some center right independent in a country that chooses it’s President’s by winner take all in the Electoral College (that CG supports ironically)
The platform Trump ran on was antithetical to over 75% of what Rush Limbaugh and those like him used to preach on the radio.
After all the Susan Collins guarantees, maybe we just ought to be open to the possibilities of surprises in the world of politics.
