We’re down to two presidential debates: The second scheduled meetup between President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden, set to be held Oct. 15, has been canceled by the Commission on Presidential Debates, which first said the event would be virtual. The last presidential debate, set for Oct. 22 in Nashville, is still on as scheduled.
The vice-presidential debate between Vice President Pence and Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.) was held in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, amid questions about the candidates’ and guests’ safety after an outbreak at the White House. Pence tested negative for coronavirus, but the White House has not been clear about when the president last tested negative for the virus, making it difficult to pinpoint who was around him when he had it….

Last presidential debate: Thursday, Oct. 22
Location: Belmont University in Nashville. This is one of the few original hosting universities that has not reversed its decision to hold a debate.
Time: 9-10:30 p.m. Eastern
Where to watch: The Washington Post will have an uninterrupted live stream of the debate. It will also be carried on most major news stations.
Moderator: Kristen Welker, NBC News White House correspondent and co-anchor of “Today Weekend”
Details: The debate will be 90 minutes long and have no commercial breaks. It will be divided into six 15-minute segments that the moderator gets to choose and is expected to announce at least a week before the debate….

President Trump and Joseph R. Biden Jr. are scheduled to debate one more time before Election Day, and climate change is on the agenda.
Kristen Welker of NBC News, moderator of the Oct. 22 debate in Nashville, revealed on Friday the six subjects that she plans to focus on during the 90-minute matchup: the coronavirus, national security, race, leadership and “American families,” according to an announcement by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
She also included climate change, which was not initially listed as a topic for the debate in Cleveland last month, although the moderator, Chris Wallace of Fox News, did end up asking questions about it.
For now, the final debate is expected to be held in-person on the campus of Belmont University in Nashville. The debate commission has not yet decided whether to require independent virus tests for the candidates before they take the stage, according to a person familiar with its planning who requested anonymity to describe private talks….

Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien penned a letter to the commission Monday raising objections with the topics announced by moderator and NBC News correspondent Kristen Welker last week, saying the commission should observe “long-standing custom” by making foreign policy the central focus of Thursday’s debate. Stepien also claimed the campaigns had agreed to the third debate being focused on foreign policy….

And of course once again we will learn nothing about anything.
Then again these media spectacles are not meant to elicit anything other than “gotcha “ sound bites for their later shows.

Biden looked at his watch.
Trump said kids separated still from their parents was “good.”
I thought Biden was much improved from the first debate, until some unforced errors towards the end. That part about getting rid of the oil industry was so unnecessary.
Biden let a lot of good lines go by unused. Trump said “nobody knows more about wind than me..”, what a perfect chance to get a zinger in.
Trump is always disgraceful. Those who like him do not care. Those who see him for what he is already know it.
The moderator did a good job.
Biden is ahead. Nothing happened to change that. Nobody should be overconfident however.
The main factor is Biden, for all his flaws as a debater or candidate, looked nothing at all like someone who is senile. He did not in the first debate either, and was better in that regard tonight.
Trump fatigue is real. I find it hard to believe all the polls are as wrong as they are. Trump supporters (at least among themselves on public forums) seem totally convinced Trump is headed for a landslide win and wiped the floor with Biden tonight. I think they are delusional but in 12 days, one way or another, there are going to be a lot of people totally shocked, who thought their candidate was going to win.
They should have taken his damn watch off though..
