The New England NFL game against Kansas City has been pushed back to Monday or Tuesday…
New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton has tested positive for Covid-19 and will not play in the team’s Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to multiple reports.
The New England-Kansas City game, initially scheduled for Sunday afternoon, will be postponed to either Monday or Tuesday after the Chiefs expressed concern over the risk of the Patriots traveling by plane so soon after Newton’s positive test.
The Patriots released a statement on Saturday morning saying that an unidentified player tested positive for the virus late last night and that he immediately entered quarantine.
Players, coaches, and personnel who interacted with the player were tested as of Saturday morning and all the tests came back negative, the team said.
ESPN was first to report the player in question was Newton, the 2015 NFL MVP who becomes by far the biggest star to test positive for coronavirus since the return of football amid a pandemic that has infected more than 7.3m Americans….
