Democrats are so convinced that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo could be considered for Joe Biden’s attorney general that aides at the National Governors Association, which Cuomo chairs, are looking into contingencies for replacing him, two sources familiar with the situation tell Axios.
What we’re hearing: Some Democratic donors in Cuomo’s orbit tell Axios that the governor is being pushed for the job and that Biden would consider him, based on their long friendship.
Why it matters: The AG would be among the most politically sensitive — and high-profile — jobs in a Biden administration.
- The Justice Department will face pressure to investigate Trump-era officials — and perhaps Trump himself — for wrongdoing in office.
- Biden’s AG also would manage the federal response to police violence, social unrest and systemic racism, and the AG could seek to use federal powers to blunt state abortion restrictions….
Note….
Cuomo has been the HHS Sec. for Bill Clinton and the New York Attorney General….
He’s in his second term as NY Governor…

Cuomo thankfully throws cold water on the AG rumors…
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo insisted Monday that he was not interested in becoming attorney general under a potential President Joe Biden, but also said he would help the Democratic nominee “any way I can.”
In an interview on NBC’s “Today” show, the governor relayed what he would tell the former vice president if asked to lead the Justice Department in a potential Biden administration….
…
“I’m a New Yorker. I said I would serve as governor,” he added. “And those rumors … those are only from people who want to get me out of New York. I don’t know why, but that’s where that’s coming from.”
Pressed again on whether he would turn down the role of attorney general, Cuomo said: “I have no interest in going to Washington.”…

That’s what got Teddy Roosevelt to Washington (as VP candidate) in 1900 — the regular Republican bosses thought they had a way to get him safely out of Albany and New York City.
T.R. himself — replacing McKinley’s deceased former VP, Garrett Hobart, on the GOP ticket— thought [not having the clairvoyance to foresee Pres. McKinley’s assassination six months into his second term] that this was essentially a dignified end to his political career.

I’d Elaborate on Cuomo…he did a decent job during the beginning of the pandemic in keeping people calm and getting them to focus on the lockdown and keeping everybody safe…
However, pre-covid his record has been meh…some of the things he has done has back fired such as bail reform, as an example.
Personally, I don’t like the guy for how he speaks, often times I feel like he is The Godfather, not the Governor…He also has that politically sliminess that political families have, *the same reason I don’t like the Clintons…
