The Republicans may get the court seat…
BUT?
The Democrats and Joe Biden ARE getting the money to take their ads to the voters at record amounts….
The most prolific online fundraising platform for Democratic candidates and causes said Sunday morning that donors had contributed more than $91 million in the 28 hours after the Supreme Court announced that Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had died.
ActBlue said Ginsburg’s death had led to an unprecedented surge of donations to progressive groups. Donors gave $6.3 million in just one hour late Friday and $70.6 million on Saturday, the platform said, both records for their respective time periods.
The previous daily record was nearly $42 million. The previous hourly record was a little more than $4 million.
“The record-breaking response we’ve seen from small-dollar donors shows that the left is eager to fulfill her final wish and ready to fight back against [President] Trump and [Senate Majority Leader Mitch] McConnell’s [R-Ky.] vow to push through a Supreme Court nominee,” ActBlue Executive Director Erin Hill said in a statement. “Grassroots donors are fired up and investing in taking back the Senate majority and the White House, electing Democratic candidates up and down the ballot, and bolstering organizations on the frontlines of the impending judicial confirmation fight.”…..
Update….
Democrat Joe Biden’s campaign and aligned Democratic Party committees entered September and the fall sprint to Election Day with $466 million in cash reserves — giving the former vice president a significant financial advantage over President Donald Trump.

Obama Plans Fundraisers with Kamala Harris
Barack Obama will join Kamala Harris at a pair of fundraising events next Friday, Bloomberg reports.
“The two will hold a virtual small-dollar fundraiser and also a virtual event for high-dollar donors, with tickets selling for $100,000 or $250,000.”
Democratic Socialist Dave says
I presume that those quarter-million and tenth-of-a-millon dollar events have some fantastic virtual hors d’œuvres and a bottomless bar. How should we dress?
Can we take selfies with the hosts, or are they going to confiscate cell phones at the door?

Hey DSD?
Remember the part about NOT taking Big Money?
I KNEW that was bull shit….
Obama doing this is the same as it was for him in 2008 and 2012…..
Anybody think Biden is gonna make Warren happy and raise the taxes of those ‘giving’ heavy money?
I got grief here but Biden is NOT gonna abide by the progressive playbook…

Biden ,if elected, will be pretty much like Obama, moderately progressive.
He has indicated he may pursue higher taxes on the wealthy. In my view, just canceling Trumps ridiculous millionaires tax cut would be a major accomplishment.
You can expect more emphasis on the environment and the end of Republicans obsession with deregulating polluters.
Health care will get a major reform, building on Obamacare as the nation progresses toward a nationalized Heath care system which will likely be a reality within the next ten years or so.
Expect a strengthening of the Consumers bureau and an emphasis on small as compared to big businesses.
Will progressives but totally happy. No…neither will you.
That’s probably right about where it should be then.
jamesb says
I hope he does better than Obama who Reid had to disinvite from deal making because he sometime gave in too easy….
Yes…
Biden IS somewhat to the middle left of Obama…
But the Progressives are NEVER gonna be happy with any Democratic President….
My Name Is Jack says
The “progressives “ are a vital part of the Democratic Party.I don’t always agree with them and often find their tactics off putting ,but they are as integral to the Democratic coalition as other groups and are deserving of consideration as all other members thereof.
Your incessant war on them that you conduct several times a week here is indicative of nothing more that someone who seemingly doesn’t grasp how political parties have to function to win elections.
For sure some progressives will sit out this election because they didn’t get their way 100% (see DSD below) but the vast majority will support Biden.Hell some “conservatives “ will support the Constitution Party because Trump isn’t Right Wing enough!Theres always some of that.
Ronald Reagan once talked of the Eleventh Commandment,“thou shall not speak ill of a fellow Republican ,” even those who opposed him.
Maybe you should practice a little of that as to fellow Democrats. We want to win this election. The last thing we should want to engage in is fruitless warfare with fellow Democrats and Democratic leaning “independents “ due to some fuzzy ideological disagreements.

Said this before and I’ll keep saying it….
They LOST with Sanders and Warren….
That is the ‘moderate to left’ Democratic Party…
They are a sideline that gets media attention…
Like DSD and u just said …
They need help the guy that will wt least listen to them…..

NEW: The Biden campaign has raised more than $21.5 million online today, per a campaign official — its best day of the race.
Added to the ~$10 million from 9pm-12 a.m. raised during and post-debate last night and you have a $31.5 million haul in a little over a day.

Sounds like a fucking dream compared to the nightmare we have now.
I’m pumped and wish I could vote again. Any disillusion I had with the system that gave us Trump in the first place is long long over.

Good….
Democratic Socialist Dave says
I was at this virtual meeting last night of the Providence Democratic Socialists of America (most of them big supporters of Sen. Sanders) and we spent some time speculating on possible nightmare scenarios and how to surmount them.
But they still don’t seem able to support the only man who can stop the creep of autocracy and oligarchy. While, in their eyes, Joe Biden has many faults, I still can’t fathom this.
On the one hand, perhaps a DSA endorsement would have been a net negative for Biden (opening an easy target for the Trump campaign); but on the other he (like Hillary Clinton) needs to rouse the enthusiasm and energy of the Base.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
And perhaps the greatest achievement of a Biden presidency would be one that could also be made by a traditional moderate Never-Trump Republican: restoring an expert civil service dedicated to the Republic and its residents, rather than to any partisan cause or financial interest.
My Name Is Jack says
What “moderate “ Republicans are you referring to?
There are no more “moderate” Republicans in the way that term was used many years ago, rather there are Reagan conservatives(see Susan Collins) who seem “moderate” compared to the Hard Right inclinations of most of the rest of the Party .
jamesb says
Moderate Republicans are ALL hiding in the back of the room….
They secretly give to the Lincoln Project….
jamesb says
They’d be joined by some progressives DSD…
