On my walk this morning it kinda came together for me…..
The pundits had the jitters last week….
They kept going back to Donald Trump’s unexpected becoming President….
He actually didn’t win overall…
Hillary Clinton beat him by almost 3 million votes…
But America has a second contest that actually gets ya the job as President…
And Hillary Clinton failed at THAT…
But to address the statement I make on top of this?
There are several reasons why people should stop comparing the last run for President to this one now….
First….
Donald Trump in 2016 was running FOR President….
Most pundits do NOT mention this…
But it IS very important…
In running for the GOP nomination ?
Trump had to travel around the country campaigning….
Trump also had the narrative within the party of WINNING by beating Republicans up month after month…
This created and build up his base and media visibility …
Second…
Donald Trump had no REAL history…
He ran as a successful businessman…
He wasn’t…
But NOBODY looked under the hood…
They couldn’t…
Trump was too busy doing what he likes to do…
Attack his enemy , thus putting the focus on THEM….
Not Trump…
Third…
Hillary Clinton…
Clinton was a lousy campaigner….
She was constantly under attack and actually made things worst by running like the win was in the bag…
She also made mistakes all along the way with her name working against her…
Email’s…
A husband that had lost his feel for politics in South Carolina ands dealing with little things like meeting the Attorney General on her plane…
And having the Republican being able to keep picking at her with little hurst adding up…
In fact if you look at the Real Clear Politics graphic of the Trump/Clinton race?
It shows you graphically how Hillary Clinton had trouble running against Donald Trump from a year out from the election…
That was 2016….
2020 has been entirely different ….
It has NOT been good for Donald Trump this time…
Joe Biden on the other hand HAS had a good run…
First….
Joe Biden started off slow…
Then after the first three contests?
He won the thing form South Carolina going forward….
And he CRUSHED IT…..
Second…
The Covid-19 Virus….
The virus froze everything in the media for 3 months….
There was NO real politics ….
This ate up any political oxygen that Donald Trump had for several months….
Three….
Go back to 2….
Add Donald Trump’s incredible indifference to the virus….
The man couldn’t and still can’t deal with ANYTHING that isn’t about ‘HIM”…
Donald Trump turned his back on the nation’s sick and dying…
He simply wants NOTHING to do with it…
THAT has cost him political support that HAD in 2016 from the primaries…
And Trump is NOT gonna try to change this….
In the way he deals with things?
He is attacking anything from the virus that isn’t ‘loyal’ to HIM…
Fourth…
Race…
During the 2016 primaries Trump used race to solidify his base …
Never before has a Republican nominee and President used the rawness of race and racism as Donald Trump…
It worked for him in 2016…
It is NOT working for him this time….
Because of him and some cops that have done questionable actions ?
Americans across the country and even people around the world have come out and protested against racism…
This is a HUGE counter to Trump’s use of racism for his political advantage…
Fifth….
The Economy….
Donald Trump ran on promises to ‘Make American Great Again’….
He has not…
As he has done in his businesses….
Donald Trump has been a failure….
Barack Obama and Joe Biden left him with a health economy…
He and the Republicans have fucked it up….
A 2017 Tax cut that began draining the government revenue …
Budget’s that where passed that increased spending (Border Wall?) after Obama was seated down for excess spending….
Trade wars?
Donald Trump began this his term in selling the idea that he was be the businessman that would get make other countries pay MORE on things they ship here…
He would rip up Obama deals and put in his….
That scared most of us for over a year….
And screwed a lot of farmers….
Ah, Anyone hear ANYTHING about all that?
Finally?
Joe Biden….
The candidate himself….
Joe Biden is NOT Hillary Clinton….
Joe Biden has been around for a LONG time…
He IS the exact OPPOSITE of Donald Trump….
A Politician….
A guy who instinctually ‘gives’ of ‘himself’….
Barack Obama’s Vice President….
Donald Trump and some Republicans are hoping that Donald Trump can go back to well again…
But folks?
Things HAVE changed….
BIG TIME….
Donald Trump has shown a MAJORITY of America and the world what an American President should NOT be….
A crowd of guys who have either have been fired or arrested….
A group of people that hop when he says hop….
A group of lawmakers who should know better but put their head’s down and enable a man who they KNOW is sad mistake for a party leader but has people back home on his side….
2020 is NOT 2016…
Donald Trump is a KNOWN ….
He’s got a LOT MORE against him than four years ago…
Some of it beyond his control
But a LOT of it just from his own mouth…
