Debates: In a peculiar statement, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has declared that she doesn’t think Biden should debate Trump at all, saying that such a debate would “legitimize” Trump. Aside from the fact that she’s talking about the literal sitting US President, this was also puzzling as the Biden camp shot down that notion about as quickly as they could get a press release out. It’s just an odd statement coming from someone who is generally considered to be one of the Democratic Party’s better strategists.
RNC: Reviews are in for the RNC, and they are . . . surprisingly positive, for as good as that actually means in this day and age. One particular note was that the RNC’s focus on non-politicians giving speeches went over much better than such speeches usually do, and Jim Geraghty thinks this might be due to the lack of crowds to trigger your average person’s fear of public speaking.
McMuffin: In one of the least surprising endorsements ever, Evan McMullin wants you to know that Evan McMullin has endorsed Biden for President.
Chamber of Commerce: In a break from tradition, the business-aligned Chamber of Commerce has endorsed a number of Democrats, including freshmen in competitive seats the GOP is aggressively targeting. The move has sparked plenty of backlash both within and outside of the organization, and is probably due to a combination of frustration at the GOP’s move away from a “Whatever’s good for business is good for America” attitude towards economic policy in the Bush years and a general reflection of upscale America’s movement towards the Democrats….

Once upon a time, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce did not confine its endorsements to Republican candidates.
