Joe Biden did his acceptance speech….
It was long…
It attempted to touch ALL the bases…..
Without mentioning Donald Trump?
He spoke about the things that Democrats have been selling for the last few days….No crowds …But that didn’t really hurt things after things got going….
Listening….
Empathy….
A Common Man….
A family man…
A man of God and faith
On a mission that IS needed….
He shared his suffering that pushed him to go ahead….
The reaction from the talking heads IS ALL positive….
I agree….
Joe Biden did a Good Job defined himself to the American people…..
And gave a promise of what he wants to do as President….
Of making next year a better place for America and the World….
…
The teen that did his piece with the stuttering got us all...
…
Some twitter initial feedback…
Joe Biden met the moment. He contrasted himself well with Trump and gave some solid explanations of his post-November plans, which we have yet to really get from Trump, says
. He also mentioned some key groups: Young voters and Black women
on COVID-19: “It didn’t have to be this bad…the president keeps telling us the virus is going to disappear. He keeps waiting for a miracle. Well, I have news for him; no miracle is coming.”
Note….
I expect Joe Biden to get a ‘bounce’ in polls that will be coming out next week during the Republican convention and before the March on Washington August 28th the day after….

Well up next is the Republican Convention where we will hear Reports notables like George W Bush,DickCheney,Mitt Romney ,Paul Ryan ,John Boehner….WAIT!
They won’t be speaking?Arent even invited?

In addition to FOX News Chris Wallace and others giving good reviews to Biden’s speech you have the GOP’s favorite pollster–Frank Luntz–saying Trump is indeed behind and is facing “significant challenges”. He also said Biden and the DNC successfully projected a unified message from the party.
Expect Trump to unload on Luntz today.

Thanks DSD….
Again?
The bounce should actually hit the media next week in the middle of the GOP show…

I will be surprised if there’s much of a bounce.
Trump is polling in the low 40s.
That’s pretty much the Republican base and the group generally identified as “Independents who lean Republican, a misnomer in my view in that they almost always vote Republican but for various reasons(embarrassment) refuse to call themselves Republicans.
Actually I think most of these people are going to stick with Trump no matter what.
All that leaves is some undecideds .So maybe he will pick up some there.
Scott P says
Yeah I don’t think either convention will change the polling much this year.

We’ll see….
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Especially since these “conventions” aren’t actually conventions at all, although they may follow a few conventions
You can look forward to four straight nights of speeches by Dear Leader next week. Your two-way telescreen will tell if you respond with sufficiently fanatical enthusiasm.
And each of those four nights will alternate endless self-praise with mean-spirited attacks.

I thought that the Democratic convention exceeded my expectations. After 4 years of Trump, I long for someone with decency and empathy. And the Convention helped us see who Biden really is – and that is someone with decency and empathy.
Biden’s speech was outstanding, especially in light of the low expectations. I believe that if there is a bump after both conventions are over, it will be for Biden.
Scott P says
The 13 year old boy with the stutter that befriended Biden was the highlight of the convention IMO.
It showcased the decency of Biden in contrast to the narcissism of our current President.
Now we have to see what the American people want in November. Four more years of a brash, petulant braggart. Or to turn the page
Democratic Socialist Dave says
I’m waiting for Trump (a born bully who flatters upward and kicks downward) to mock that 13-year-old the way he mocked that disabled reporter four years ago.
All his advisers will of course tell him not to, but they can’t control his tweets.
jamesb says
Yup….
He is NOT a caring person by any means..
jamesb says
I agree Z…..
We seek the light…..
