They went after right away…
But the throw downs seem soft ……
Republicans DO have to be careful with Trump behind and tem having problems with the women vote…
Just one day after Kamala Harris was named the Democratic vice presidential nominee, Trump campaign advisers and allies are expressing concern that the GOP’s initial fumbling response to her selection signals there is no clear strategy to define the historic pick in the weeks ahead, according to several people involved in the discussions.
Despite having months to prepare for the probable outcome that Harris would be chosen, the Trump re-election effort countered with a series of contradictory and at times confusing messages about the California senator, from her record as a California prosecutor to her positioning in the party.
Some allies of the president said they were stunned that the rejoinder appeared to be so flat-footed and incongruous, reiterating that President Donald Trump and his campaign have had troublelanding a punch on the presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden, and expressing concern that the same issue could take place with Harris.
“They struggled to attack her when she was running and will struggle now,” one former Trump campaign official said.
At the same time as Trump’s allies labeled Harris as being too tough on crime, she was also lumped in with anti-police leftists.
She was repeatedly painted by the GOP as a “tool of the radical left,” but then the Republican National Committee argued liberals were “revolting” against the pick.
And Trump himself didn’t seem to know the plan of attack against Harris, even though it was increasingly obvious Biden was going to select a woman of color for the role. At a news conference Tuesday evening, Trump had to ask a reporter to repeat the nickname his own campaign used in advertising and fundraising appeals released minutes after the announcement.
The president failed to mention the historic nature of the decision but speaking with reporters Wednesday, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway acknowledged Harris’ significance. Then she slammed Harris both for being “very much part of the radical left” and too hard on crime, arguing “she left nobody happy on law and order when it was the number-one job she had.”
Conway called her a “safe and unsurprising pick,” while Trump said Tuesday he was “surprised” that Biden chose her. And Vice President Mike Pence told an Arizona audience it was “no surprise” Harris was added to the ticket….

Great roll out today for Joe and Kamala. Her personal story, the daughter of two immigrants from different parts of the world is very compelling. I remember meeting Kamala’s mom years ago, a wonderful warm woman. Even though I have heard the story many times before, it was great to hear it again today. Kamala is great on her feet, should be an interesting debate. After all, she did confuse Jeff Sessions and make Brett Kavanaugh cry.
Fundraising went through the roof over the last 24 hours. The campaign took in over 30 million dollars. Pretty amazing, a new record. That excitement can almost all be attributed to Kamala. I have been running my own fundraiser through Act Blue. Follow the link below to contribute. There’s a drawing for a large format bottle of Cabernet in it for you if you give and your name gets pulled out of the wine cooler.

I am up to 20K so far, with a goal of 30 before the end of the convention. I simply haven’t had the time to make calls. I’ll make it.
Now this is going to be difficult for the next 83 days. The Post Office slow down is frightening, given how many Democrats vote by mail, and this is clearly directed at stopping Democrats from voting. It has moved past the so-called conspiracy theory stage on to a full blown effort to suppress the vote, and not one Republican in Congress has said a word. They are all still focused on how Obama and Biden spied on the Trump campaign.
I can pretty much say that this will be the most bizarre election of our lives, the dirtiest one too. It has already started with Fox News starting their birther theories about Kamala. I won’t be around much, too much to do. But, I will try to update as I can. But, once again, this election is binary. If you don’t vote for Biden/Harris you have voted for Trump.

Republicans clearly have no cogent line of attack on Harris.
She was the most obvious pick and they got nothing.
Sad.

They used James‘s attack that Harris was mean. I rewatched the busing clip from the Early debate. That clip won’t help the GOP.

There’s really sick irony in the likes of Donald Trump and the Republicans who support him calling another candidate…
“Mean.”
Scott P says
According to the Trump Republicans women are either “nasty” or 1950 s suburban housewives
CG says
An irony is that he says she has said mean and nasty things about people he has nominated or put into office.
NOBODY says nastier and more vicious things about Trump appointees than Trump himself usually winds up saying about them.
Scott P says
Yeah but to the Cult that is the Republican Party when Trump says something mean and nasty he’s just “telling it like it is”.
They give him a pass for anything.

Even in his tweet disagreeing Trump, Ben Sasse has to say “(you know) I care about you personally and have tried to help you repeatedly”. What baloney, just stand up to him and stop the verbal slop.

Sasse was an early Trump critic. After catching flak in Nebraska he backed way off and not much has been heard out of him until recently.
His remarks will hurt him in heavily Trumpized Nebraska so I presume his little act of fealty was an an attempt to take some of the sting out.
Didn’t affect Trump. He blasted him anyway.
ronnieevan says
As much as Sasse rails against Communist China, he doesn’t seem a smidge bothered by Trump’s commandeering of governmental agencies to serve his personal interests and distorted messaging. “America doesn’t have kings”, says Sasse. What about wanna be Chinese Communist leaders, eh, Sasse?
jamesb says
Sasse makes sure to have a retreat path?

Trump runs all non-political institutions that don’t bend to his will into the ground. He ran the FBI into the ground, he is now running the proud United States Postal Service into the ground and his Republican enablers are all in.

Don’t forget the Census, the EPA and the CDC.
ronnieevan says
Thank you, I was thinking of the Census after I posted. The EPA and CDC of course should be included.

I don’t know about the callow youngsters on this venerable board, but old veterans like me can remember when the conventional wisdom (as given, for example, by news commentators and popular historians) ran something like this:
You may need the Party of Change (including intellectuals, academics,
writers and movement leaders) to see news visions, correct old injustices and establish new remedies, but you also need a Party of Stability (including business leaders and professionals) to manage all the bright new programmes and deliver on all those promises on a sound, managerial footing — and who better to do that than business and military leaders used to managing large, complex organizations involving a great deal of financial and technical expertise?
Donald Trump is certainly a disproof of that idea.

Joe Biden IS selling ‘normality and stability’….
He’s LEADING in the polls and is expected to win….
