Joe Biden is looking g for a Vice President…..
The top people in the running….
Mostly Black women and Elizabeth Warren have all gotten a a written article in The Washington Post….
Below I feature and link a s piece on Susan Rice who I think Joe Biden SHOULD pick to be his Vice President choice….
Rice is sure to be in Biden’s admin in some high level position…
Years later, that relationship has made Rice an unlikely finalist to become Biden’s running mate and the first African American woman on a major party ticket, according to people with knowledge of the process and other Biden allies. She has never been elected to political office but has a credential none of her rivals can boast: a lengthy history as Biden’s colleague at the highest levels of government.
“Biden spent years essentially beginning his day with a briefing from Susan Rice,” said former Obama deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes. “So he definitely knows her.”
Biden has frequently said he is looking for a running mate with whom he is “simpatico” and that he aspires to re-create the dynamic he shared with Obama, to whom he was a friend and adviser. That could cut both ways for Rice, who disagreed with Biden on some key foreign policy issues during Obama’s first term, when she served as U.N. ambassador, but also forged a kinship with him, particularly once she moved to the White House in 2013, according to colleagues.
Rice has been a frequent guest on television news shows in recent months, impressing Biden allies who were unsure how she would fare under heightened public scrutiny. To broaden her public persona beyond the foreign policy issues that have dominated her career, Rice has written op-eds on issues such as voting rights, racial justice, D.C. statehood and the Trump administration’s performance in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
She has eschewed the traditional strategy of demurring when asked about the vice presidential nomination, confidently statingin a recent interview on NBC’s “Meet The Press” that Biden “needs to make the decision as to who he thinks will be his best running mate, and I will do my utmost, drawing on my experience of years in government.”
Rice is seen by some Biden allies as an underdog to be his running mate, but even many of them say they envision her playing some influential role in a Biden administration — perhaps as secretary of state or in some other senior position….

Susan Rice is a certainty to be in a Biden Administration in some capacity.
The knock on her as a VP candidate is she’s never run for political office before,of course neither had Donald Trump(maybe that’s not a good recommendation!), and has little experience in domestic affairs, having a career as a diplomat.
Biden ,of course ,fashions himself a foreign policy maven ,so many feel that for VP he might want someone more attuned to the domestic area like a Senator or Congresswoman.Further a VP candidate is suppose to carry water on the campaign trail and ,as mentioned, Rice has no experience doing that.
Still Rice is a talented woman who could competently fill any number of foreign policy roles up to Secretary of State.
There’s still a chance she might be chosen for the VP slot if Biden ,who has a good personal rapport with her ,decides that is more important to him than anything else.
ronnieevan says
Susan Rice will be Secretary of State and Kamala Harris will be VP. Harris has good rapport with all the key players she would need to work with in shaping and promoting a domestic agenda.
Keith says
I agree with both assessments. They make sense from both policy and political positions.
Imagine my surprise yesterday when I read that Senator Duckworth was stupid and had a Blago problem. Or that Karen Bass had once committed the horrible sin of praising a dead dictator. Amazing, they ever got elected.
Well Tammy aced that same test Donnie did, and Karen doesn’t call Vlad on a regular basis. So I think they’re both good.
I think it’s important to remember how Uncle Joe was selected by Obama and apply that same type of criteria.

With CG there’s one thing for certain…
Whomever the VP candidate is ?
He’s agin’ em!

Both WILL get job offers no doubt RE….
I’m hope the opposite of ur choices

The Hill is out with a piece selling Haris for the Biden VP pick….I do NOT agree with this piece which guesses that Warren is still in the running and quotes some looking for Biden to make a choice’out of his comfort zone’…and mentions Bass being a good choice for progressives….
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) is seen as the favorite as Joe Biden nears a decision on his vice presidential pick.
Harris would be the first Black woman and Indian American woman to be nominated on a major party’s presidential ticket, and she battled with Biden memorably on the debate stage more than a year ago.
Harris wouldn’t put a new state in play. She represents California, the largest electoral prize on the map but one that is completely safe for Democrats.
Yet many see her as the least risky pick for Biden, who is under pressure to select a woman of color as his veep, and someone who would be prepared to be president on day one.

Susan Rice gets her Politico post….
Don’t count Susan Rice out of the vice-presidential contest.
At first glance, it might be easy to dismiss the former national security adviser’s chances of joining Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket. Rice has never run for elected office. She doesn’t bring along the loyalties of a swing state. Her work experience revolves largely around foreign affairs, which could seem redundant given Biden’s experience in those issues. Her son is a proud and active Republican, while the GOP has for years used her as a punching bag over the Benghazi tragedy – the main reason many Americans have ever even heard her name.
But more than a dozen of Rice’s friends and former colleagues recently interviewed by POLITICO dismiss those concerns. They argued that Rice is no stranger to the campaign trail, even if she wasn’t the candidate, and besides, amid the coronavirus pandemic, what campaign trail is there?
They describe Rice as a highly able government operator, the type who can hold the reins on foreign policy as a President Biden tackles the consuming domestic crises of a pandemic and a cratered economy. Having a Republican son speaks to her open-mindedness, these supporters say, further arguing that Benghazi is a spent issue that isn’t likely to swing any votes.
Perhaps most important? Rice has a longstanding — and by all accounts warm — relationship with Biden….

CG says
She would have to publicly disown her son, would she not?
CG says
“open-mindedness” is not exactly in vogue these days among those who are most politically active.
Scott P says
Can you imagine the undisputed leader of the GOP–Donald Trump–having a “long standing and by all accounts warm”–relationship with a Republican politician whose son actively supported Biden?
Please.
He’d Tweet up a storm and the GOP would swallow it all down
Enough “both sides” here
CG says
What I was clearly saying is that neither side would tolerate that these days, although Trumpists do overlook his past as a Democrat as well as that of Ivanka and Jared.
Times have changed since the 1980s when it was well known that Ron Jr. and Patti were very far left and Reaganites didn’t care.
Scott P says
“Neither side would tolerate that these days”
Except Susan Rice is a finalist for VP.
I’d say if you are being vetted to be on the ticket you are “tolerated”
CG says
She has not been selected though.
Maybe she will. I think if she is, she will have to publicly disown her son in order to quell a firestorm. Her son has put his name behind some very specific, very controversial things. This isn’t like Elyse and Steven Keaton having to explain Alex.
That may not be something neither she nor Biden even realize at this time.
There will be incredible pressure put on her and all sorts of questions about what kind of mother she is, and how by not cutting ties with him, she is “enabling” hate, etc.
Scott P says
Until she’s selected we don’t know how her son will be received.
Meanwhile Trump is Tweeting that “trending” on Twitter is “illegal” and had a post removed that had a quack doctor claiming that there was a “cure” for Coronavirus.
And we already know how 95% of Republicans are receiving that.
Like every other ridiculous, stupid and harmful thing he has done.
Shrugging their shoulders and giving him their wholehearted support.
But sure, let’s discuss hypotheticals so you can feel better about claiming both sides.
jamesb says
Screw Trump….
It’s been more than 3 1/2 years and he’s STILL complaining that he should be able to lie and everyone should believe him?🙄
CG says
I don’t think it’s 95 percent, but even if it was, 95 percent is not “all” or “fully.”
CG says
Not recognizing problems with “both sides” is the #1 symptom of tribalism.
It should not really be that difficult to do. You don’t have to convince me that Trump sucks. I shouldn’t have to try to convince you that there are some real issues with the left these days and within their party. I think you actually know it. You just do not want to concede it “in front” of me.
Scott P says
Speaking of “tribalism” one of the most vocal of Trump’s critics, Maryland Gov Larry Hogan says he may still vote for him.
But yeah let’s claim that the Republican Party is somehow not completely in lockstep with Trump
CG says
We both know that Larry Hogan is not going to vote for Trump, just like he did not last time.
Questions about his current political posturing regarding this election and his future plans would be better directed to Ron G. who is a top advisor to him and who is very willing to defend all things Hogan on the P1 Twitter feed.
You know that I would prefer someone to say “hell no, I’m not voting for him.”
jamesb says
I’m gonna go with CG this time…
Holman probably could drag himself to vote fir Trump in the end….
But saying he might will keep some people off his back…. For NOW,,..
CG says
Of course what will happen is Hogan will claim. “you know I gave him every possible opportunity to grow in office and to be a better President, right up until the end, as a Republican, but when the time came I just couldn’t…..”
It’s too political of course, but that’s what they all do. The smart people knew he was unworthy the second he came down an escalator.
Scott P says
I guess I need the secret decoder ring all Republicans–or former Republicans–have to figure out what Hogan “really” meant when he said there is a chance he’d vote for Trump.
As to 2024 and beyond? My votes will be cast for candidates who didn’t hedge.
CG says
It’s pretty obvious what his strategy is with that. Kasich said the exact same thing in 2016 and then said later that of course he didn’t vote for Trump. (Jeb Bush said early on he would not vote for Trump.)
Your votes in 2024 and beyond will be for Democrats. Perhaps one of them down the road may be a former Trump supporter.
CG says
Governor Hogan is NOT going to vote for Trump. He just wants to be able to dishonestly claim afterwards that he was willing to consider it.
jamesb says
With Democrats ascending ?
After leaving office?
Trump certainly COULD switch back to the Democrats….
Wouldn’t surprise a LOT of us
CG says
It wouldn’t?
If he endorses Biden for reelection, would you want Biden to accept it?
CG says
He’d switch back to the Democrats and contribute heavily to them again for a Pardon…
Bill Clinton would make that deal.
Zreebs says
there is not much about Trump that would surprise me, but becoming a Democrat would be shocking. Trump might choose to wotk with Democrats but even that would be a stretch.
James, who else besides you and perhaps CG wouldn’t be surprised if Trump became a Democrat?
jamesb says
Trump probably if he can make money doing so?
CG says
I am pretty sure there are numerous children of pro-Trump politicians who support Biden or who are otherwise to the left. Lots of Republican Senators and House Members have Democrat kids (and probably a small number vice versa.)
Trump hasn’t fired Kellyanne Conway, even though her husband and daughter are very publicly anti-Trump in extremely harsh terms. He may just Tweet nasty things about them.
The whole matter of this going coming out as part of a national ticket though would make it a pretty big story and I think would put a tremendous strain on the Rice family.
Of course, the correct answer should be, “I love and am proud of my son. He has the right as an American to believe whatever he wants even if I do not believe the same things.”
But when it comes to Donald Trump especially, there is no way she would ever be able to stay that and still be the #2 on the ticket running against him.
jamesb says
CG?
Rice dies NOT have to disown her son…
She would be the VP
Not her son….
What about the Conroy’s
What about Carville and Matlin?
CG says
Tell that to the Twitter and the donors.
CG says
This is his mantra:
“Trump is great. Build the wall. Deport criminal illegals. Guns save lives. There are only two genders. Abortion is murder. Defund sanctuary city San Francisco. Taxation is theft. Affirmative action is racist. White privilege is a lie.”
For those keeping score, only five and a half of those 10 things are correct…
CG says
I like james how you can edit your posts after you make them and after they are responded to.
The “Conroys” and Matalin/Carville are not going to be part of any ticket.
jamesb says
Both families had people sitting next to thrones….
Rice’s son won’t knock her off the list
CG says
If not, he will be publicly disowned.
Maybe the Penees will adopt him.
jamesb says
You got kids CG?
