National/President
RNC: There are growing doubts about the viability of the in-person Republican National Convention as Florida continues to have more COVID cases than the European Union. That is not deterring some Republicans from promising to attend such an event as a risk worth taking while Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Florida Man) is busy doing his best Frank Drebin impersonation warning everyone there is nothing to see here.
Wisconsin: The Guardian looks at how Wisconsin appears to be a trouble spot for President Trump (R-MAGA). It explores the ever divided nature of Wisconsin politics.
Texas: The Texas Republican Party came to their senses and will hold a virtual convention after attempts to get the Texas Supreme Court to allow them to have an in-person convention failed. The Texas Supreme Court, made up of all Republicans, refused to stop the invoking of a force majeure clause of the convention center contract by the operator….

Nevermind he was a rock-solid AL conservative for 30yrs and 1st Senator to endorse Trump in 16’ while he was radioactive.
He didn’t show the requisite mob-level fealty when it counted, so down he goes.
But nah, Trumpism definitely hasn’t hijacked the party, you guys…

Good news for Doug Jones. It is an uphill battle but Sessions would have been the more difficult candidate in the general.
jamesb says
Check the last tweet?
There ARE some who think Sessions losing maybe HELPFUL to Doug Jones?
Scott P says
A fitting end for the toady Sessions.
A lot of others who foolishly backed Trump will see their careers end soon enough too.
Collins, Gardner, McSally etc.
jamesb says
Wouldn’t THAT be Grand Scott???
CG says
Jones is very likely to lose and I disagree with that assessment. I think he would have had a better chance against Sessions.
However, if I lived in AL, I’d probably vote (again) for Jones.
Keith says
Probably is the operative word, and that means he would vote for the Republican candidate just like he has for the last twenty plus years.
Tommy is a stupid, stupid man, who can’t debate and is so far up Trump’s butt he can’t breath. Only Alabama or Mississippi would elect this dummy.
But Corey would “probably” vote for Jones.
CG says
Well, I don’t live in Alabama, H. Keith.
But yeah I think I would vote for Jones if I did. I definitely “supported” him over Roy Moore.
CG says
In February, I even endorsed a Bloomberg/Jones ticket.

I just realized that the Trump convention is literally going to be held in a city named after Andrew Jackson, one of his heroes.
How fitting. Perhaps the two worst humans to ever be President. They make the top five list for sure.

Ain’t gonna be a full house…
Everyday another GOPer lawmakers says they ain’t going and get infected…
Zreebs says
So you would likely vote for Jones over Tuberville, but not for Biden over Trump? Why do you like Trump more than Tuberville and/or Jones more than Biden? I am especially interested in your comparison of Trump and Tuberville.
Keith says
It was the word “probably” that got me Zreebs. We have been reading Corey Ray’s countless posts for over half of his voting life and he has never voted for a Democrat for federal or statewide office, not once.
Of course he has always been weirdly interested in every time one of us split our ticket, as if it were some kind of moral failing. But he always never failed to thank us as he were a head waiter.
This national disaster we are living through seems to be a source of amusement for him as he looks for more obscure “whataboutisms” to deflect from Republican Trump worship.
Soon we’ll be hearing about all sorts of things that happened 30 yers ago.
If you haven’t looked lately the Republicans are nominating even more Tubervilles all over the country. Very fitting for a party that embraces its whiteness.
Last night Corey pointed out the obvious about where he lives. He’s told us his mom wouldn’t have it any other way. That doesn’t stop him from helping in the fight to end Trumpism by donating to Doug Jones. I just did.
And it shouldn’t stop him from voting for Biden, because, as he knows, a vote for anyone else is a vote for Trump.
