Yea why NOT?
They have a New York City Real Estate guy in the White House….
Joe Biden will be in his 80’s….
Why NOT try another non-politician?
Tucker Carlson’s audience is booming — and so is chatter that the popular Fox News host will parlay his TV perch into a run for president in 2024.
Republican strategists, conservative commentators, and former Trump campaign and administration officials are buzzing about Carlson as the next-generation leader of Donald Trump’s movement — with many believing he would be an immediate frontrunner in a Republican primary.
“He’s a talented communicator with a massive platform. I think if he runs he’d be formidable,” said Luke Thompson, a Republican strategist who worked for Jeb Bush’s super PAC in 2016.
While practically every Republican eyeing a 2024 presidential run is professing loyalty to Trump the person, Carlson has become perhaps the highest-profile proponent of “Trumpism” — a blend of anti-immigrant nationalism, economic populism and America First isolationism that he articulates unapologetically and with some snark. At the same time, he’s shown a rare willingness among Republicans to bluntly criticize Trump when he believes the president is straying from that ideology.
In another twist, Carlson has established a friendship with Donald Trump, Jr., according to a source familiar with their relationship. Trump Jr. has drawn his own share of presidential buzz.
“Tucker Carlson Tonight” is currently the most watched cable news program in history, according to the second quarter ratings released this week. And on Fox News’ YouTube channel, Carlson’s segments from the past quarter have drawn well over 60 million views and are among the most popular videos in the eight years since the network began posting on the platform.
His popularity with the base would instigate a debate over the future of the party — essentially whether Trump was an aberration or a party-realigning disrupter — a fight that will be all the fiercer if Trump loses in November.
“Let me put it this way: If Biden wins and Tucker decided to run, he’d be the nominee,” said Sam Nunberg, a former top political aide to Trump who knows Carlson. But Nunberg said he doesn’t believe Carlson will run because “he’s so disgusted with politicians.”….

Some of us well known on air tirades are pure Trump but better delivered given his on air training.
Contrary to your and CGs contention that Trumpism dies with Trumos EC it.This implies it survives with a more refined Trumpite.
Nunberg here says Carlson would be the next nominee.Trumpite to the bone.Indeed is one of Trumps unofficial advisors.
jamesb says
Hardcore conservatives where here BEFORE Trump and will around after him….
My Name Is Jack says
You better get with CG though…
He claims Trump isn’t “really” a “conservative.”
And that real “conservatives” don’t “really” support Trump.
You boys need to figure this thing out.
Maybe Republicans aren’t “really” Republicans?
Lots of not “reallys” around here!
jamesb says
Gladly Jack.,
Donald Trump isn’t a true conservative …
Never was….
He’s opportunist …
He danced with Democrats when it served his interests…
He’s dancing with the Republicans now,,.
He’s same guy that had Bill and Hillary Clinton at his 3rd weeding.
He’s been listed in 3 parties…
Believe what u want Jack…
The truth IS the truth.
He is only Loyal to Donald J. Trump and his reality….
Zreebs says
Trump was nominated not because he tricked the GOP electorate, but because he effectively captured their values. Baby jails for immigrants, massive deficit spending, proudly stating there are good people on both sides of the Klan rally, these are things that either have or would have appealed to Republicans before Trump was elected. In the past 40 years, the GOP has been the borrow and spend party (But only when the GOP is in office) and the party preferred by racists, and it has increasingly been moving in that direction.
Anyone watching who is winning the GOP nominations countrywide has to know that Republicans are nominating people like Trump- even if he didn’t endorse them! The GOP knows this even if they won’t admit it, The ONLY way Republicans will speak out against Trump is if they pay a price if they don’t. But that would require Republicans to vote against a Republicans, and few will do so.
Keith says
I agree completely with Zreebs. Why are we still making these tortured excuses for Trump being the head of the Republican Party?? We went through this bullshit four years ago, “the adopted Party,” although Trump clearly represents everything that the Republican Party has always been — racist money grubbers. Trump is a racist and he money grubs, he’s the perfect head of a Party that is going the way of the Know-nothings.
ronnieevan says
I agree that Trump is the logical extension of the Republican party strategy since Richard Nixon. The brand will stay around for a long time. We see what it could morph into when we see the far right parties in Europe, although I don’t think it will need to become a third party because it’s hold on the Republican party is so strong. The one hopeful thing is that this brand has been shrinking the Republican base and will continue to do so.
Scott P says
I agree. The Limbaugh-ification of the Republican Party was destined to end in the nominatiin of someone like Trump.
They flirted with candidates like Robertson and Buchanan for years. It was bound to happen one day.
jamesb says
Yo RE?
I think the hardcore ringhtwingnuts are going to grow in size in the next few years …
A Biden admin is gonna see a relaxing of immigration , muslim bands, abortion, gay rights, race based politics ….
All that is going to scare the trump black white power people even more as they begin to feel helpless like the current protestors in the streets… We already have increased stories of scared white people waving guns at black women walking with their kids in their own neighborhoods
It WILL get worst…
ronnieevan says
It’s frightening, but it could happen.
CG says
Sam Nunberg worked with Trump in 2015 and then had a very public political breakup with him even before the 2016 election. Trump sued him and called him a drug addict and all sorts of things on Twitter. Nunberg has not been a Trump advisor for years.
My Name Is Jack says
Oh so “ hardcore conservatives” is your new name for Trumpites.
I’ll remember that.
Scott P says
Well Rush Limbaugh will likely be dead by then. I always thought Republicans would either nominate Rush Limbaugh or soneone completely like him. Trump was closest to date. Carlson would be even closer.
CG says
Some of you people are gullible to media.
Nobody who ever finished in last place on “Dancing With the Stars”, (where people vote) is ever going to be a viable Presidential candidate.
Scott P says
The previous two Republican Presidents–GHW and GW Bush–fell out of favor with rank and file conservative Republicans because they we’re viewed as insufficiently conservative.
Just a hunch but if Trump loses those same voters will likely not blame Trump for being too liberal. They will blame the Republican Party for failing to support the stalwart conservative Trump enough.
It won’t matter that it isn’t true–the Republican Party is in lock stock and barrell for Trump.
Everything the conservative movement puts out these days is complete bullshit any way. They’ll buy this too.
CG says
If Trump loses people on the right will admit openly that he Tweeted too much and was a jerk personally. Some of them like that about him, (“he fights”) while others claim he is his own worst enemy. Basically, they are right on that.
There will be a desire to nominate someone seen as a “nicer” person.
As I have said before, these people tend to fall in line with whomever is at the front of the line (and are willing to turn on them after they lose their place.)
I simply do not buy the concept that there will be some large scale Trump Nolstagia or Trump Revenge faction being vocal in the party and I think I have a better insight into how these people think.
CG says
I do not know what thread it was on. I see my handle mentioned all over the place during discussions some mornings. I guess it should be flattering, but despite what jack claimed, I never said “conservatives don’t support Trump.” I said the opposite.
What I did say though is that I took issue with the claim that Trump’s core support is composed of a “vast majority of conservatives.” That is simply not true. I presented numbers showing otherwise from 2016. He could not have come close to winning otherwise. Beyond conservatives, Trump received support from “moderates” and even some “liberals.” I would estimate that many about half or slightly more of Trump’s core support is from conservatives but definitely not a “vast majority.”
If anyone wants to attempt to present contradictory statistics, please feel free.
jamesb says
Neither do I…..
Outta sight?
Outta mind…..
And loser’s don’t keep their power….
bdog says
What’s truly amazing about this debate, is almost that both of you are right. The Republicans are Really Conservative and will outlast Trump, but they have also sold their conservative soul to elect a guy who isn’t a conservative just a guy who plays to whatever he needs to do and say to keep the conservative movement on his side…
Look at his speech last night, he said I will keep the Nuclear Family together as it is the Bedrock of the US…says a man who is three times married, 300 times a infidel (marriage wise) and probably a serial sexual harasser or worse…so he says the things a conservative says but does things a conservative does not believe in…
That is my two cents…either way, the man needs to go…
Democratic Socialist Dave says
If and when he goes, of course, there should be a multi-racial, transgenerational movement to unname or rename such divisive and racist monuments as Trump Tower.
(What shall we teach the children?)
My Name Is Jack says
Well the argument over whether of not Trump is or is not a “conservative “ is meaningless.
The only fact that matters, as I have constantly reiterated , is that he has consistently pushed for the adoption of “conservative” programs and goals.
His tax program?A conservative dream , lower taxes for the wealthy, lower capital gains taxes, business goodies ,on and on…Judicial appointments …Conservatives have had verbal ejaculations of excitement over the conservative Nature of his appointments…environment?Trump has done his best to eviscerate the EPA and environmental laws going back years, another cherished goal…Eviscerated the Consumer Protection bureau ,a cherished conservative goal.
I could go on and on .Trump will go down in history among other things as one of the most conservative Presidents of all time.Indeed with his Tariff laws, eagerly embraced by most self described conservatives , he has had a hand in reshaping modern day “conservatism.”
These irrelevant discussions of is Trump “really” this or that is nothing but useless blabber. The fact is he has governed as a conservative ,,he is accepted as such by most conservatives in this country and his legacy will be a host of conservative jurists who will have an effect far into the future.
So this discussion of what he is or isn’t?
Drivel!
Scott P says
As I noted the other day. The previous two Republican Presidents-GW Bush and GW Bush–have been disowned by the conservative movement.
I highly doubt Trump will.
My Name Is Jack says
Yes and that brings up the question….
Who “speaks” for the “conservative movement?”
Indeed does it “really” (there’s that word!)even exist anymore?
Increasingly ,it appears that conservatism ,as a political philosophy, no longer can be said to be a coherent whole.
Our friend CG says he’s a “real” conservative and Donald Trump isn’t.Yet,many self described conservatives would readily accept Trump as a brother conservative and denounce the NeverTrumper CG as a”moderate” and maybe even a “librul.”
Yes,increasingly this argument lacks much coherence .It will continue I presume. However I fail to see that it matters very much.
Conservatism may be approaching that stage enshrined in judicial history by the famous words of former Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart’s definition of pornography…
“I can’t define it,but I know it when I see it.”
jamesb says
Yes indeed….
‘People ain’t just one thing’, eh?
jamesb says
Scott?
Except for the lawmakers like Jack says?
Even the people over at Fox question the big guy ….
And we have several media type conservatives knocking Trump also…
He does in fact have conservatives up and down on his sidewalk act…
My Name Is Jack says
For every comment questioning Trump ?
There are hundreds in support of him.
Once again,
“Drivel”
jamesb says
Ha, ha, ha😆
Thanks Jack….
I KNEW u know that Donald Trump has used party affiliations to promote HIS agenda…
He has NO party but his own…
Been saying THAT forever here…
My Name Is Jack says
A stupid comment.
Now you are saying the conservative agenda is actually Trumps agenda but he’s not a conservative.
More,yes, “drivel.”
jamesb says
I agree with ya Bdog….
Jack is just doing his thing…
Whoever is the President IS the party leader…
When they leave?
They give that up…
Jack knows that…
My Name Is Jack says
Well I do “know” that the above comments by you are essentially nonsensical and have nothing to do with anything I commented on.
Like I said “drivel.”
Expected I might add.
