Ouch!?
It HAS come to this for more and MORE Donald Trump disenchanted Republicans ….
Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) is expected to speak on behalf of former Vice President Joe Biden at the Democratic National Convention next month.
It’s unclear if Kasich will explicitly endorse the presumptive Democratic nominee when he speaks at the convention. But the expected remarks would amount to a major show of support for Biden by a lifelong Republican who rose to political prominence amid the Tea Party movement a decade ago.
The plans were first reported on Monday by The Associated Press. Spokespeople for Biden’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment.
Kasich, who unsuccessfully ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, has been fiercely critical of President Trump, going as far as to call for his impeachment last year.
Kasich’s expected speech on Biden’s behalf could also give the former vice president a boost in Ohio, a longtime swing state that has increasingly moved in Republicans’ favor in recent years. During his 2016 presidential bid, Ohio was the only state Kasich won.
Kasich isn’t the only Republican supporting Biden’s campaign to oust Trump in November. A handful of prominent Republicans founded a political action committee, The Lincoln Project, late last year to oppose the president’s reelection. The group has spent heavily on advertising criticizing Trump in recent months.

I’m guessing this means Kasich is giving up any hope of running for President as a Republican in 2024.

Maybe?
Maybe Not?
If Hogan can get a foothold?
Why not Kasich?
My Name Is Jack says
There is a huge difference between criticizing a Republican President and appearing at a Democratic convention and endorsing a Democratic presidential candidate.
At any rate, I don’t take Hogan seriously as a Republican presidential candidate in 2024 .
My Name Is Jack says
I would go further.
In my view,if he follows through with this, his electoral career as a Republican is over.
He may remain a “ Republican “ as Zell Miller still claimed to be a”Democrat.”
He will be regarded as a renegade and will not be welcomed at party events.
Indeed, Kasich, by doing this ,might be signaling that he is retiring from electoral politics.
jamesb says
Let’s face it Jack?
Kasich has ALWAYS been seen as a person ‘out’ of the GOP main stream….
His only support would be moderate GOPer’s who have been shamed by the Trumpists
My Name Is Jack says
Actually, it’s what is considered the Republican “mainstream “ that has changed not Kasich.
Kasich is the same conservative he has been for years.
The Republican “mainstream “is now Hard Right.
Scott P says
That’s my take too.
LaunchKasich has run for President twice in the last 20 years. He may be done.
Scott P says
Kasich not launch.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Republicans will trust John Kasich about as much as Democrats trust Joe Lieberman.

I agree with what Jack Said…Kaisich hasn’t changed his politics, the party has changed to fit the more bombastic style of trump and his supporters…it has obviously been trending that way since Rush and his guys started blasting the TV and Radio waves and gathering a large and vocal following…Trumps just helped it achieve another level, somewhere it should never have gotten to…
And yeah Kaisic is done politically…unless he is eyeing some position in the Biden admin,
jamesb says
So Hogan has NO chance either I presume?
My Name Is Jack says
Do you think Hogan has a real shot at the Republican nomination in 2024?
Zreebs says
Hogan recently said that there is growing evidence that Covid-19 is no longer a priority for Trump. Ummm. Hasn’t it been a priority for Trump to imply that Covid19 is not even a problem?
Scott P says
My prediction?
If Hogan runs he will be a media darling and there will be all sorts of think pieces on how his candidacy could be a game changer for the Republican Party.
Then the voting starts and we find out most actual GOP primary voters are fine with the game as it is.
Zreebs says
Trump’s values are here to stay for awhile in the GOP.
Trump is unpopular now mostly because of his incredible incompetence, but there is much to copy from him for Republicans who solely want to win. Lying has shown to work great with the GOP base.
