The Republicans have one from the US Senate…
Congress will not look at them till mid-Summer and with other legislation piling up, including money for next years budget ?
May not get to reform until next year….
None the government changes will reach as afar as protestors want probably…
Admin and Congress plans have been thru talking TO law enforcement , something protestors are against….None take seriously defunding the police…
Of course one the problems in this has been Donald Trump HIMSELF who has played to racism and glorified actions against those who do not support him and policies ….
Administration officials emphasized that Trump’s approach would instead seek to leverage federal grant money to encourage local departments to bolster training and certification around a set of national “best practices.” Departments that pursue such goals would move to the front of the line for the grant funding and “you don’t necessarily have to demonize them or withdraw funds,” said a senior administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to brief reporters ahead of Trump’s announcement.
“The overall goal is we want law and order, and we want it done fairly, justly — we want it done safely,” Trump said at the White House on Monday. “It’s about law and order, but it’s about justice, also.”….
Federal grant money is sometimes the problem in itself.
Often these “grants” carry requirements of “productivity.”
In other words, the grant success is judged by how many arrests are made .One can easily see that such is an invitation to abuse.The police feel they have to make so many cases ,some marginal at best, to justify the grant.
It’s a system that feeds upon itself.
Frankly, I question the value of most of these “grants.”
