What plan?
The guy lives in a alternate reality Chuck….
And you better get with the Trump program or suffer being thrown out of the club….
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), normally a staunch ally of the White House, chided President Trump and Fox News over a town hall this week in which the president struggled to articulate what he wanted to accomplish in a potential second term.
Trump caught a lot of flak from Republicans last week for failing to cite a single agenda item for the next four years, saying only that he now has experience and knows players in Washington.
“Does FOXNews want Trump Re-elected?Watched Hannity/Trump interview/KEY QUESTION”What goals in next term?Trump starts answer/gets off point and Hannity helps digress and that’s end of the most important Q to get FOUR MORE YEARS OF DRAINING THE SWAMP &Justices,” Grassley tweeted.
The remark was the latest criticism over Trump’s answer, which detractors said lacked substance while the White House faces a series of crises over the economy, the pandemic and protests over racial justice….
Here’s what Grassley was worried about….
Trump Holds Back on Outlining Second-Term Agenda
“President Trump has been asked twice in the past two weeks to outline his priorities for a second term. He didn’t directly answer the question either time,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“Less than five months before the election, Mr. Trump has yet to publicly lay out a detailed vision for the next four years, instead touting what he marks as first-term achievements and arguing that his presumptive Democratic opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden, will undo many of the policies he has already put in place.”
Note…
Hey Chuck?
Didi you catch the part about Trump telling Hannity he don’t think he’s gonna have a second term?
You better have a ‘plan’ for yourself….

You tolerated his bullshit for 4 years Chuck.
Quit whining and accept that “I was only in Washington 17 times but now everyone knows me” and “you have some idiots like Bolton but you don’t have to kill everybody” is what your party is saying it wants for four more years.
Get on board!

Why doesn’t this two bit coward condemn the latest outrage be the Leader of the Republican Party…
As Trump thanks and promotes a White bigot and apparent Trump supporter yelling “White Power” ( a well known slogan of various White supremacist groups ) .
Scott P says
I wonder what your Senator Tim Scott thinks of Trump thanking his “white power” supporters?
My Name Is Jack says
I see where he labeled it “offensive “ and “indefensible “ and told Trump to “take it down.”
My Name Is Jack says
Apparently ,Trump has now taken it down, claiming he didn’t “hear” the words “White Power.”
He’s lying of course.
The video is posted on Mediaite and the Trumpite yelling the words is loud and clear.
Scott P says
So it’s down.
Scott needs to be asked why he thinks Trump would put something like that up in the first place. Hold his feet to the fire.
My Name Is Jack says
Scott is scared to death to cross S.C. Republicans where uncritical support of Trump and tolerance of Republican racist remarks are a litmus test.
Funny thing is …
Republicans need Scott a lot more than he needs them.
He’s in the perfect position to denounce Trump in the bluntest language possible.
Too bad he doesn’t get that.

I just do NOT understand Scott being able swallow this stuff from Trump personally…

If Tim Scott (like Rep. Will Hurd, R-Tx) is leaving office come January, then what does he have to lose?
As Jack said, he’s in the perfect position to express his own reactions and his own views, without regard to the S.C. GOP or its base.
Does Scott contemplate running (why?) for Governor of South Carolina?
As point-man for the Republican caucus’s response to the current racial crisis (and/or the crisis that’s lasted for 50 to 150 years — cf. W.E.B. DuBois*), his GOP colleagues and leadership need him far more than he needs their support.
It’s possible that — although he can advocate for a position as fiercely as anyone else — that he’s just the sort of conciliatory type who prefers to try constructing consensus to prosecuting a battle.

Scott isn’t leaving the Senate ,to my knowledge ,although ,at various times , he has intimated that he might not run again.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Thanks, Jack.
A while back, there was comment about how the GOP was losing its one-man black caucuses in both the House (Will Hurd, Texas) and the Senate.
Now I see that Scott’s Senate term won’t end until Jan. 2023 (while Lindsay Graham’s ends next January).
So, even if he does plan to retire in 2023, Tim Scott will want not to alienate other Republicans who might collaborate with him on legislation or nominations.

How about ‘keep dividing the country and keep getting rich from it”, that should work for them.
Scott P says
In today’s dose of silly John Bolton says his biggest fear of an “umconstrained” 2nd Trump term is that he will appoint liberal Supreme Court justices.
This idea among some conservative Republicans who oppose him that Trump is some sort of secret Democrat is delusional.
They can’t accept that his is the most right wing administration in recent history.
jamesb says
Maybe they read all that here at the Pdog a while ago?
Zreebs says
I think that Scott’s statement that “Trump is the most right wing president in recent history” is true. But I think it is also true that Trump has no core values and he makes decisions based on whether it benefits him personally.
If you agree that Trump is loyal to no one and makes decisions based on what he perceives benefits him, then of course Trump is potentially willing to throw large groups of his former supporters under the bus if he perceives that they no longer serve his interest. So if the House and the Senate have Democratic majorities in 2021, who really knows what will happen? Most likely, he will be willing to make deals to protect himself.

I agree with u Z…..
