*Is the President threatening martial law?
Someone better get a clarification on this….
Or is this just a pushback on Biden out and about and him hiding in the White House bunker?
President Donald Trump promised to deploy large numbers of troops across the nation if cities and states don’t act to contain violence from protests over police brutality.
“I am dispatching thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers,” Trump said Monday at the White House.
Trump has seized on protests against police brutality toward people of color to portray himself as an icon of law and order, eschewing the soothing role past presidents have adopted in similar moments as he seeks to turn the election-year conversation from his widely panned handling of the coronavirus outbreak…
Himself?
Protests ?
Floyd death?
Violence?
Dominating Protestors ?
Weak Governors?
Virus gone?
Great Economy?
America is Great?
How he hates America’s first Black/Mixed President?
More tax cuts?
More border walls?
How its China fault for everything?
Why Putin is his friend?
Why Michael Flynn should go free after admitting he did wrong?
Or?
Why he likes Black People?
Note…
This IS straight from the Donald Trump playbook…
Go LARGE…
Working to steal the media focus from the virus and economy…
Things he’s in trouble with….
Go against the less fortunate people…
Work to stamp down those you couldn’t give a shit about so your ‘base’ can go on trying to tell the rest of America what to do…
Donald Trump continues to work hard to be a one term President using the very government he rants against…

Backgrounder on Trump’s announcement today…Typical
President Trump walked on foot to visit the historic St. John’s Church near the White House after protesters were forcefully removed from Lafayette Park by law enforcement officers who fired tear gas into the crowd.
Trump visited the church after vowing in a Rose Garden address to mobilize the military to help quell protests across the country that broke out following the death of George Floyd.
Trump posed for photos in front of the church, which was set fire Sunday evening as violent protests raged in Washington, D.C., around the White House. Trump held up a Bible while posing for pictures with aides including Attorney General William Barr, chief of staff Mark Meadows and White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.
“Greatest country in the world,” the president told reporters, adding that his administration was going to keep it “safe.”

@NBCNews
that President Trump’s unannounced walk Monday evening from the White House through Lafayette Square to visit Saint John’s Episcopal Church “was his idea”

I’m sure it was. It was a terrible idea and something Putin would do.
Of course it was his idea.
To his credit Sen. Tim Scott has said that Trump clearing the peaceful protesters was wrong. I hope he follows that up with an announcement that he will not be voting for Trump.
The rest of the party is silent as always

Ben Sasse finally made a statement about something again, stating his disapproval.
A “White House aide” told a reporter off the record that they were “sick to their stomach” over this action but is apparently going to remain anonymous in order to keep their job and their nausea.

Catholic Archbishop Slams Trump’s Visit to Shrine
“President Trump triggered sharp condemnation from top religious leaders for the second time in two days on Tuesday, with Washington Archbishop Wilton Gregory slamming his visit to a D.C. shrine honoring Pope John Paul II,” the Washington Post reports.
Said Gregory: “I find it baffling and reprehensible that any Catholic facility would allow itself to be so egregiously misused and manipulated in a fashion that violates our religious principles, which call us to defend the rights of all people, even those with whom we might disagree.”..

NEW: It was the Attorney General who gave the order to forcibly clear protesters, largely peaceful, out of Lafayette park area where Trump held photo op. We’ve been asking White House and a slew of federal agencies all day, and nobody would cop to it. Until now.

Democratic Socialist Dave says
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
… but the President-in-Chief can make his own laws.
