Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) won Nebraska’s GOP Senate primary Tuesday, defeating a Republican challenger who sought to make an issue of the senator’s occasional criticism of President Trump.
Sasse, who is running for a second term, defeated Nebraska Republican Matt Innis, a Marine Corps veteran and business owner. The primary was largely conducted through mailed-in ballots.
Innis had sought to cast Sasse as insufficiently supportive of Trump, but Sasse leaned into his occasional criticism of the president, releasing an ad ahead of the primary raced touting his “guts.”
“He’s ticked off a lot of folks these past six years, from the radical left to, every now and then, even the president from his own party,” a narrator says in the ad. “Here’s the deal: Ben’s got guts.”…

It’s pretty rare for Senate incumbents to lose primaries. I didn’t even know Sasse had a challenger.

Sasse had been a staunch Trump critics and drew his ire. The Senator even said he thought a lot about leaving the Republican Party because of Trump. Then, he went into the Primary Protection Program and just went mute.
So, if he won by 50 that way, could he not have maybe stood by his principles and still won the primary by a few points at least? I guess he decided it was better to be safe than sorry. At least that kind of sorry.

There are those GOPer’s out there that WILL do what Sasse has done if Trump’s numbers stay the way they are and people start getting antsy about Trump losing…
Sasse clammed up and ran for the hills when his voice was needed the most. He made his accommodations. Now that his reelection is basically secure, will he go back?
Well, if Trump loses, a whole lot of Republicans will suddenly “find their voice.”

Here is a question: will Ben Sasse want oversight on a Democratic administration? He sits on his hands while laws protecting Inspectors General are pushed aside. At least, Romney, Grassley and Collins made some noise. Sasse should give us a break with his “civics”. He wouldn’t know “civics” if he bumped straight into it. His submission in the face of corrupt actions is the real threat to freedom.

Here is a question: will Ben Sasse want oversight on a Democratic administration? Hopefully he won’t get a chance to chair any subcommittees in a Democratic Senate. He currently sits on his hands while DT tramples on laws protecting Inspectors General. At least, Romney, Grassley and Collins acted like actual senators instead of pretend ones. Give us a break, Sasse, with your “civics”. You wouldn’t know “civics” if it hit you on the head. Your cowardice in the face of governmental corruption is the biggest threat to freedom.
