As more states reopen we have media outlets pursuing a slam against the governors because there are more virus cases being reported…
The media ‘gotcha’ isn’t really a ‘gotcha’ at all…
Common sense would have that if look for something?
You WILL find it….
And the media often likes to push one thing …
(Like MORE testing to open states!)
Then drive doubt down against it…
(Stop reopening )
The states ARE moving to opening up…
(There ARE going to continue to be virus cases…)
Governors have tended to do so in steps….
People aren’t gonna rush back pre-virus days normalcy …
The media sometimes becomes the very thing that confuses people in their reporting….

There’s an element of “gotcha” in these stories, as though these governors are deceiving people. But, as far as I can tell, these governors aren’t really claiming that re-opening won’t result in an increase.

Also, in Texas’s case they are doing **A LOT** more testing now. Testing has more than doubled within a couple of weeks. So Gov. Abbott is correct to say you have to distinguish a real increase from one caused by an increase in testing. covidtracking.com/data/state/tex

If you greatly expand testing—something that is CRUCIAL to reopening SAFELY—and then a bunch of news articles slam you because your state is finding more cases as a result of doing more tests, they’re actively misinforming people and creating disincentives to do more tests.

Still means there are a lot of infected people and likely along more deaths.
That’s the bottom line.

The virus has been in America since December…
There will NEVER be a accurate fatality number….
Everyday we have officials conceding that they add on numbers to the daily total that are from the past….
We CAN only go on what we have….
Yes, there ARE a LOT of people who HAVE been infected since the end of last year…
Yes, there ARE gonna be more deaths…
But just like NY, Italy, Spain and the rest of the world?
The numbers WILL come down to a manageable level….
The media has adjusted mostly except for the NY Times…
You can read them everyday….
They ARE accentuating the negatives …
I follow Nate Silver because he asks questions against the hair on fire numbers that have come to be arbitrary and all over the place…

Today you are saying “there will never be an accurate fatality number.”
Another gross irrelevancy.
If you buy that, then obviously since what reports exist are now of “confirmed” deaths, the inherent presumption in your statement is there are likely more( although on various days you lapse into Trump like conspiracy theories so who knows what your line is today) .
Once again, what does that have to do with media reports as to infections and death?
