This dog has thought the Minnesota US Senator IS on the top of the list for awhile…
(Biden can actually pick any of the 10 or so other women in the mix)
She is a middle of the road US Senator….
She has been a sUS Senator for a while…
She has no other agenda…
She has been battle tested in the primaries and the debates….
Of course the twitter universe IS on fire…
The Bernie people are up in arms….
They STILL have NOT come to terms that their guy LOST….
Even some the Bernie leaning journalist’s/pundits are having the shakes…
Most people think Biden should pick US Senator Kamala Harris to ‘balance’ the color of the ticket…
Biden really doesn’t have to do that…
He has the black vote…
He has Obama…
The Senator Warren push also….
Warren comes from Massachuttes a Republican state…
Democrats need her to hold her seat….
Also?
She would come with her own agenda, something Biden does NOT need….
The Klobuchar leak IS a trial ballon to see how it plays…
For those of us who aren’t about the ‘Bern’?
She plays fine….
One potentially advantageous quality Klobuchar could bring to the ticket is her Midwestern roots. Democrats are particularly eager to win back a handful of Midwestern states that Trump carried in 2016, including Michigan and Wisconsin, and some in the party argue that having a running mate from the region could be a boon to Biden’s prospects there.
Klobuchar has support among some centrist Democrats on Capitol Hill. Rep. Dean Phillips, a moderate Minnesota Democrat like Klobuchar, says his home-state senator would boost Biden in Rust-Belt swing states like Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania that Trump won in 2016.
“As a party that is increasingly portrayed as one for both coasts, I think there’s something quite powerful about a vice presidential candidate from the Heartland,” Phillips told The Hill, noting that others on the VP short-list hail from California, Massachusetts and other coastal states. “I do think that there’s a big part of this country that is looking for someone that kind of feels like they know them, represent them and understand them, and Klobuchar really does.
“I think the middle of America is longing for that kind of representation on both sides of the aisle,” he added.
Biden’s decision on a running mate is still likely weeks away….

I see people freaking out about Amy Klobuchar. Relax. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, Biden always planned to vet her. I’ve been told that Klobuchar, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Catherine Cortez Masto are all in the mix. No need to panic.

Klobuchar is a well liked and competent politician. That’s a plain fact.
The Berniecrats hate everyone so they don’t really count. Mostly everyone else would get used to it though some Harris fans would be upset for a while.
I honestly can’t say it matters to me all that much.

Rep. Val Demings (D-FL) told SiriusXM’s The Dean Obeidallah Show that she was on “the shortlist” to be Biden’s vice presidential nominee, saying that she’d accept the job if offered.
Said Demings: “If Vice President Biden asked me to serve along with him, I would be honored to do just that.”

Amy strengthens Biden in the heartland. Also, she had polled well in Pennsylvania as a presidential candidate. Klobuchar and Harris are finalists. As Biden has said the person would be someone who would be “the last person in the room” giving him advice. I can see both Klobuchar and Harris in that role bringing their valuable perspectives.
jamesb says
They are the top two for sure….
jamesb says
I do NOT see Warren as a choice…
ronnieevan says
I think Warren would play too much into the right’s game plan.
Scott P says
I like Warren, but I’d rather it be Harris. She’s younger, has more appeal to urban minorities, and is pretty good at getting under Trump’s skin.
ronnieevan says
Harris has a great immigrant story to tell and Klobuchar is pure heartland. Both appeal. I like Harris, but would be okay with Klobuchar.
Scott P says
Oh sure, I’d be happy with Klobuchar too
I was a little puzzled yesterday that both New Hampshire Senators were being considered. Don’t get me wrong, both Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hasan are solid Senators, but I don’t see them having as much appeal as Warren, Harris, Klobuchar. Others I see as more formidable picks would be Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada or New Mexico Gov Michelle Lujan Grisham.
Fun fact, Jeanne Shaheen and I share the same hometown of St. Charles, MO so it would be of personal interest if she were to be VP. However I understand she has declined to be vetted as she is running for reelection to the Senate.
ronnieevan says
Jason Kander, also of MO, founded a voter advocacy group which is currently launching “Vote from Home 2020” targeting voters in MI, PA and NC. I am big fan of Kander, so glad he continues to lead.
ronnieevan says
Yes to Michelle Lujan Grisham, She has executive experience and could bring out Latino voters in a lot of swing states.
jamesb says
I think it’s smart to have a long list of ‘possibles’….
But in the real?
I’d say it’s Harris, Klobuchar and Warren….
As everybody here should know….
I believe it WILL or SHOULD be Klobuchar…
ronnieevan says
Agree on the top three.
jamesb says
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that Biden’s pick be ready to run the country from day one …
A lot of the women on the list are not what Biden should be gambling with….
Trump is a bad example of having someone learning on the job with crisis in health and the economy….
jamesb says
I’m sure Abrams will get Biden appointment
And Harris should have the Attorney General job as a fall back….
Warren should stay in the Senate….
Or be offered Treasury….
ronnieevan says
So looking forward to having a competent cabinet…

I favor Harris.
There is really no difference among the leading contenders:Harris, Klobuchar or Warren as to their “ability “ to assume the office of President so that’s not of much importance.
The VP candidate should ,of course, first do no harm ,then add something to the ticket.I like Amy Klobuchar ,but I don’t see her as a vote getter in any way.Warren may add some votes among liberals but also may alienate some for being “too” liberal.
Hillary lost in 2016 essentially due to 60000 or so votes in Pa , Wisconsin and Michigan.A small increase in Black turnout in those states and she would have won.Harris likely would increase the Black turnout nationwide, maybe not by a lot but even by a few percent might prove the difference.
Accordingly I see her as much better choice to add votes than either Klobuchar or Warren.
ronnieevan says
And Harris could shore up Biden on racial and cultural awareness.
jamesb says
Biden HAS the minority vote and has Obama….
Harris should be the AG….
jamesb says
Biden needs the old Obama states that went to Trump…
Harris doe NOT help with those states….
My Name Is Jack says
You never understand anything do you?
Aren’t you the one that’s always howling “turnout” turnout .”
Making a statement like”Biden has the minority vote…”is meaningless if that vote doesn’t turn out .Thats what killed Hillary .
And as for this stupid comment,”Biden needs the old Obama states that went to Trump…”
What the Hell do you call,Pa., Michigan and Wisconsin?
Every time you post you show your political ignorance.

US Senator Klobuchar (D-Min)…
A new Minneapolis Star Tribune poll in Minnesota finds Joe Biden leading Donald Trump by five points, 49% to 44%, with 7% still undecided.
Trump’s approval rate is 45% to 53%.

What’s your point?
Minnesota hasn’t voted for a Republican presidential candidate in 48 years.
Boosting Klobuchar as aVP candidate as a”help” in Minnesota?
Back to the drawing board James.
