If the GOPer’s that aren’t happy with their party leader?
Joe Biden IS looking for your support and vote…
The anti-Trump people HAVE a chance to do something to get rid of the guy they don’t like leading their party astray …This IS serious…But anyone published in the media IS gonna get attention from Trump supporters…
Trump’s continued gaffs and low polling numbers are giving the Biden people hope they can steal from the Republicans deck…
The closer we get to Election Day and Trump is seen in trouble?
The more one might see Republicans defecting from supporting Trump, although they may still support down ballot party lawmakers in their voting…
Appearing in an Instagram live chat with soccer star Megan Rapinoe on April 30, presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden made a spontaneous, vague statement about how he’s been “speaking to a lot of Republicans,” including “former colleagues, who are calling and saying ‘Joe, if you win, we’re gonna help.’”
Then he showed his hand: “Matter of fact, there’s some major Republicans who are already forming ‘Republicans for Biden,’” the former vice president said. “Major officeholders.”
The comment hardly received any attention at the time. But in declaring it, Biden ended up tipping off the earliest stages of a brewing effort that’s starting to get underway in certain Republican circles behind-the-scenes.
Interviews with several of the most prominent NeverTrump Republicans reveal that for now, the nascent effort is loosely defined and could ultimately take a variety of forms. But preliminary talks about messaging, engagement, leadership, and rollout are starting to be broadly sketched out, according to sources directly familiar with the matter. And the talks have happened more frequently as Biden moves solidly into general election mode.
“It is literally just forming,” one former top Republican Party official involved with the preliminary discussions told The Daily Beast. “I’ve had several conversations with people who have approached me. It’s going to take off, it’s going to happen. The question is to what degree and form it does,” the source, who was granted anonymity to speak candidly about private discussions, said.
“You don’t want something like this out on the street before it needs to be,” the GOP source added. “It just makes it much harder to do.”…
Today, the United States is beset with a president who was unprepared for the burden of the presidency and who has made plain his deficits in leadership, management, intelligence and morality.
When we founded the Lincoln Project, we did so with a clear mission: to defeat President Trump in November. Publicly supporting a Democratic nominee for president is a first for all of us. We are in extraordinary times, and we have chosen to put country over party — and former vice president Joe Biden is the candidate who we believe will do the same….

We have seen these type of things before.
Exactly what “major officeholders “:are involved here.
I can’t think of a single Republican Senator or Governor who would openly support Biden.Maybe Hogan and Baker would secretly vote for him ,but actually publicly support him?I can’t see that.
Often these type organizations are led by former officeholders who are already moving to open membership in the other party.(see John Connally in 1972 Democrats for Nixon)
In my view any Republican “major officeholders “ who openly endorse Biden?Wont be “major officeholders” much longer.

Hey Jack?
If Trump looks like he’s gonna lose BIG TIME?
Will GOPer’s stick by him. or jump shop come Sept/Oct?
Scott P says
Floyd Flake, who either didn’t vote in 2016 or cast his ballot for Evan McMullin–is all in for Joe Biden this time around. Of course Flake is now a former Senator so that may have something to do with his shift from third party to Democrat this time around.
I really don’t know if Hogan or Baker will endorse Biden. Possibly late in the game if it looks like Trump is toast. If it’s still close they will likely keep their cards close to the vest
jamesb says
Flake is persona non grata
I think a LOT of GOPer’s COULD jump ship if the Sept. polling is the asme as todays against Trump….
Dangerous move though by any elected GOPer in a RED state…
My Name Is Jack says
Maybe they will.
If they do?They are finished as Republicans.
As I commented earlier ,most people who do this are already gravitating to the other party or departing electoral politics(see Zell Miller) .A lot of this was common in the south in the sixties and early seventies.
Then, many “Democrats” in Deep South states would run as “Mississippi Democrats ,” Alabama Democrats “ etc. while endorsing Nixon in 60,Goldwater in 64, Nixon or Wallace in 68, Nixon in 72.They could get away with it because their electorates were of the same mind.
Any sitting Republican who openly endorsed Biden? Is in for a sure primary challenge and likely defeat.
jamesb says
Ok…
We just need their votes…
That’s enough

Despite all these “stories?”
There is no evidence that Trumps support among Republicans is waning.
I expect he will still receive 90% + of the votes of those who call themselves “Republicans.”I really don’t understand the continuing efforts here and elsewhere questioning his level of Republican support.
I mean a few Republicans who have opposed Trump from the get go start a group to oppose him?Good for them.I applaud their efforts.Besides harassing Trump, do I expect it to have any major impact among other Republicans? No.

Good piece that goes into the mindset involved…

Trump Will Bring Down the GOP with Him
Joe Scarborough: “Republican incumbent senators in Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Maine and North Carolina face serious threats from their Democratic opponents in recent polls. Once-safe states such as Kansas and Georgia are in play, and Trump himself is losing head-to-head matchups with presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida. Recent polls show the two are even tied in traditionally Republican strongholds like Georgia and Texas.”
“With the prospects of a historic Democratic landslide building with every Trump news conference, every deranged tweet, every racist remark, wouldn’t now be the time for Republican candidates to stand up, speak out and finally stop following a man so ill-equipped for the presidency?”
“To quote Trump himself, with control of Congress and the White House slipping away: ‘What the hell do they have to lose?’”
Politicalwire…

The Never Trump movement failed four years ago. But a small band of Republicans still bucking their party are back with a new game plan for their second act: turning President Donald Trump’s words and record against him.
The most blistering voices in the campaign to defeat Trump are so far not coming from Democrats, but rather from Republicans — and, in some cases, former Republicans — who are delivering a dizzying stream of ads to needle the President and castigate his actions…

We’ll see on the final vote totals…
I do NOT think these NeverTrump’s will convert to down Ballot Democratic votes either…
Scott P says
The only Republicans that might endorse Biden would be Hogan, Baker, maybe Phil Scott of Vermont. All governors of deep blue states whose future is either out of electoral politics, an appointment to a Democratic administration, or a party switch.
I don’t see any Republican members of Congress doing this, unless they are retiring.
jamesb says
I do NOT see Hogan endorsing Trump…
He, he, he….Even if Ron G is a staff member
