Several state Governor’s are announcing the gradual relaxing of their virus related restrictions…(There have pushed out their restrictions to later dates)
Just what President Trump wanted, but was rebuffed by some Governors …
There ARE bound to be some virus spikes in those states…
Stay tuned…
These actions ARE gonna put pressure on other governor’s to follow suit….
Masks usage is being ordered for these actions…

BREAKING: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is encouraging retailers to start operating next Friday as “retail to go,” in which customers would order ahead of time and pick up items curbside. State parks will reopen Monday, but visitors will be required to wear face coverings, he said. Restrictions on non-coronavirus-related surgeries and procedures will also be loosened….
In Minnesota, Mr. Walz, a Democrat, said Friday that golf courses and driving ranges could reopen Saturday morning, and many other outdoor activities could resume, too, including boating, fishing, hunting, and hiking. Some businesses that support those activities, including bait shops, shooting ranges and game farms, can also open. But campgrounds, recreational equipment rental, charter boats, and guided fishing will remain closed…

Gov. Phil Scott of Vermont, a Republican, said Friday that he would allow some businesses in the state to reopen by Monday, provided that they involve very low contact and involve no more than two people.
The governor gave the green light to a handful of businesses — property managers, real estate agents and some construction crews — but said they must comply with safety guidelines, such as social distancing and wearing a mask. The state will open its farmer’s markets on May 1st. So far, the state has registered 779 cases and 35 deaths.
Gov. Tony Evers of Wisconsin, a Democrat, said on Thursday that golf courses could open with certain restrictions and that for-hire lawn care could be carried out if it was performed by one person. Stores selling materials to make face masks can open for curbside pickup, he said.
In Idaho, Gov. Brad Little, a Republican, has said businesses that were once deemed nonessential, such as craft stores, candle shops or dog groomers, could open to allow for curbside or delivery services until at least the end of the month. He noted that they should prepare to reopen altogether in May with social distancing and sanitation rules in place….

New York Gov Cuomo and Trump are going at it…
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said at his daily briefing that New York could not fully reopen its economy without more widespread testing, which could not be done “without federal help,” the New York Times reports.
He explained that the federal government was “passing the buck without passing the bucks.”
Before the briefing was over, President Trump tweeted: “Governor Cuomo should spend more time ‘doing’ and less time ‘complaining’. Get out there and get the job done. Stop talking!”
Which allowed Cuomo to respond: “First of all, if he’s sitting home watching TV, maybe he should get up and go to work, right? Second, let’s keep emotion and politics out of this, and personal ego if we can. Because this is about the people.”…

Maryland is continuing school closures through at least May 15 to curb the spread of the coronavirus, state Superintendent of Schools Karen Salmon said Friday.
While the academic year ends on June 15 for many school districts, extending the duration of the closure is a decision that officials “need to make incrementally,” Salmon said. “We don’t know what’s going to happen [in the next month].” Many states have said their schools are closed for the full academic year, including Virginia….

BREAKING: Abbott says beginning on May 1st, all Texas retail stores, restaurants, movie theaters and malls can reopen — but at no more than 25% occupancy.

Abbott says his order supersedes any local orders to the contrary, and emphasizes that this is PERMISSION to open, not a requirement. Adds that libraries and museums may open under the same rules.

I don’t know who GarrettHaake is but he needs to reword the above tweet.
How could a Governor “require” a local restaurant to open?
jamesb says
The governor could get a call from the US Atty asking the governor to ‘cease and desist’!

I expect we will see more of this as the virus moves out of cities and into the hinterlands. Fewer people for it to kill in those places but keep in mind if your county (or parish in Louisiana) only has a few thousand people a couple of deaths a week is a mortality rate as high as having dozens die in municipalities with several hundred thousand people.

Trump is apparently going to issue an Order for meatpacking plants to stay open as “essential “ businesses.
Plants representing about 15% of the meat distributed in the nation have been closed as a result of infections among the workforce.
His action is likely a reaction to Tyson Foods CEO running an open letter claiming the food chain was breaking down.Other people in the business have said there is enough meat out there but there have been disruptions in distribution and that spot shortages could arrive in certain areas this week.
Trump intrinsically understands that if the food chain goes awry?Forget everything that’s been said.Hes finished.

plus he’d be hungry

Yeah maybe the CEO of McDonalds got to him?
Scott P says
Yeah considering Trump lives on fast food this would hit him personally.
As to me, while I’m no vegetarian I consume quite a bit less meat than I did a few years ago. Most weeks I go at least a day or two without it.
As long as there were affordable and healthy meat and protein substitutes I could see the silver linings of a meat shortage getting people to consume less animal agriculture. Better health overall and better for the environment
My Name Is Jack says
Yeah but you know Trump cultists?
Anything thatS “better for your health” sounds suspiciously like some of that “librul” propaganda….
“Them bastards dont want me to have my damn steak!”
See?
Trump knows his audience as out national real show continues.
Scott P says
Oh sure, And someone like me simply pointing it out would be called a damn liberal elitist!
