It was a send-off worthy of the heroes they are.
Out-of-state healthcare workers who joined New York’s ongoing war against coronavirus were given a surprise standing ovation from scores of cops Wednesday as many prepared for their last rotation at area hospitals.
Dozens of NYPD officers surprised the volunteers outside of Park Central Hotel in Midtown and applauded their dedication, bravery and generosity as they boarded a bus that would take them to another day on the front lines.
“It made me tear up, it’s so amazing. I really appreciate them doing that,” Madison Webb, a physician assistant from Panama City, Fla., said as she was cheered by the cops.
A month ago, Webb, 28, was home some 1,150 miles from Midtown when she heard Gov. Cuomo’s call for emergency healthcare workers. She’s now caring for COVID-19 patients at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.
“We’ve been shown a lot of support and it’s been great, especially when you’re so far away from your family,” she said….

An interesting study by the Hospital system that has treated the most coronavirus cases in New York reveals that 94% of those hospitalized had underlying conditions before contracting the disease., pre hypertension and diabetes.
I was surprised that it was that large frankly .
So while it remains true that anybody who contracts the virus may need hospitalization,this study indicates that those with underlying conditions are much more likely to than anybody else.
Yes Jack…A LOT of things have been glossed over by the media ….
Turns out that the rush for respirators and to do incubations was wrong…
Both treatments have turned out to make patients worst in some cases…
The doctors and hospitals HAVE been prescribing the malaria drug…
The reason the hospitizations have been going down?
More testing….
If you test positive and walking and talking ?
You are told to GO HOME and let your body deal with the virus …
If you are seriously ill…The virus kicks in rapidly?…Then you get the hospital….
Many NY hospital’s then transfer you to an other facility that handles JUST virus cases..That freeing up their space…
It turns out that the virus is no match for over 80% of HEALTHY people who recover on their own…
It’s not fair to criticize health professionals who by their own admission were and are battling a disease that they are learning about on the fly.
They were and are making the best decisions they can given their knowledge at the time.
The media,your favorite whipping boy (ala Trump) has nothing to do with this.
It IS FAIR to criticise anyone and everyone , as you do here….
Scientists, like all humans, shit when they have too…
And they make mistakes…
My beef has NOT been on their conclusions so much….
They ARE the ‘experts’…
My beef has been mainly that they operate in a vacuum …
Their call is to wait for next spring for the testing to produce a vaccine and treatment drug…
Governors, Not Trump, Do N OT have the TIME to do that…Healthcare workers on the front lines do NOT either…
And YES jack….
Neither does the American economy….

The story on the ground is much more complex then the headlines portray…
But a reporter, that has NO experience in a subject and under the gun from an editor to juice up their piece from the herd is what we often have…
I have pointed out here how Fauci’s answers to questions are reported in the headline as a absolute only to see down in a piece that he actually gave himself wiggle room…
And I YES I agree, to a small extent, WITH Trump…
The media DOES, at times, BULL SHIT just like everyone else…
And has to print retractions, apologies and fire people for bad journalism…
