21% of them showed up with antibodies from having HAD the virus, which we now know has been around since the beginning of the winter…

It would appear that the death rate for the virus is far lower than the numbers reported everyday and further points to the fact that a vast majority of those that get the virus don’t even know that have it , and get thru ok….
The listed death toll for today is down to 438….
The number has been dropping steadily as has the hospital numbers…
“They were infected three weeks ago, four weeks ago, five weeks ago, six weeks ago. But they had the virus, they developed the antibodies and they are now recovered,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo(D) said Thursday.
The data indicates the COVID-19 death rate in New York is about 0.5 percent. The tests were conducted over a two-day period in 19 counties and 40 localities.
Cuomo stressed that more data will need to be collected and the infection rate could be higher because it didn’t include people who aren’t leaving their homes.
Antibody tests reveal whether a person’s immune system has responded to the virus, differing from diagnostic tests that can only tell if a person is currently infected.
Through diagnostic testing, New York has confirmed more than 269,000 cases.
Officials have said widespread antibody testing is a key component of reopening the country safely, as experts believe that people who have had COVID-19 are now likely immune to it. But it’s not yet known how long that immunity might last. Questions have also risen about the accuracy of some antibody tests….
Cuomo had some words for US Senate Majority leader McConnell…
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) slammed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Thursday for saying he supports allowing states to declare bankruptcy amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“This is one of the really dumb ideas of all time,” Cuomo said during his daily press briefing.
“Not to fund state and local governments is incredibly short-sighted. They want to fund small businesses, fund the airlines, I understand that, but state and local governments fund police and fire and teachers and schools. How do you not fund police and fire and teachers and schools in the midst of this crisis?” Cuomo added.
He said if the federal government doesn’t fund the states, the states can’t fund the vital services….

Nearly all of the coronavirus patients in New York’s largest hospital system had at least one underlying health condition, a new study shows.
Electronic health records of 5,700 COVID-19 patients hospitalized at Northwell Health revealed that more than 94 percent had another disease in addition to the deadly virus.
The majority of those patients — 88 percent — had more than one pre-existing illness, 6.3 percent had only one and 6.1 percent had none at all, according to the research posted in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
The most common condition among the patients, whose median age was 63, was high blood pressure, with about 57 percent affected.
Nearly 42 percent of the patients suffered from obesity, and about 34 percent from diabetes, according to the study.

The study also found that 88 percent of COVID-19 patients placed on ventilators in the hospital system died of the illness.
The study also confirmed that men are more likely to die from the bug than women.
During triage, about a third of all the patients, or 1,734, had a fever, about 17 percent had a high respiratory rate and just under 30 percent needed supplemental oxygen.
On average, the patients were discharged after four days.

The governor said polls for the June 23 primary election would remain open, but he would issue an executive order requiring the state board of elections to send a postage-paid absentee-ballot application to all state residents. Cuomo previously issued an executive order allowing all New Yorkers to vote absentee….
