Of Course…
The virus HAS been in this country since who knows when?
Some people have strong reactions to the infection..
Some do not…
One could guess that there ARE millions of people who have HAD the virus and are walking ga round alright with a immunity to the it…
The first large-scale coronavirus antibody study of 3,300 people in Santa Clara County, Calif., found that 2.5 to 4.2 percent of those tested were positive for antibodies, suggesting more people have been infected with the disease than public health officials have counted.
The study published Friday estimates that 48,000 to 81,000 people in the county of 2 million could be infected. In early April when the samples were taken, approximately 1,000 confirmed cases were recorded by the county.
Researchers estimate there are likely 50 to 80 times more infections in the state’s counties than what is being reported.
“The most important implication of these findings is that the number of infections is much greater than the reported number of cases,” the researchers wrote…

That’s one of the problems with this virus.
So many people who have it are either asymptomatic and have no symptoms at all ,thus not knowing they even have been infected ,or have had only minor symptoms that they simply ignored, but once again not knowing that they actually had Covid 19.
It’s a major problem in trying to determine how to guard against spreading it.I mean it’s one thing to see an obviously sick person ,coughing profusely ,and struck by fever, generally looking “sick..
How do you guard against people walking around acting fairly normal, nothing out of the ordinary ?The only answer is continuing social distancing.
Another aspect of this is the number of deaths as a percentage of those infected .As we obviously have no idea as to the number of actual infections,(the “reported “ numbers really have little relevance as new info becomes available) that percentage could be much lower than number currently being bandied about(2-4%),maybe less than 1% .

I agree Jack…
Great point..
We are using benchmarks that probably will be found error prone in the future…

I would hasten to add that using this same information ,it is impossible to tell when or If, the number of infections have” plateaued “ as Trump and others claim.
As we don’t even know what the number is at any given time.

There’s a healthy surplus of opinions. This country isn’t lacking opinions. Everyone has plenty of them. What this country and it’s people need are facts. There is a severe shortage of it.
