He may have the Democratic nomination sewed up….
He has my vote regardless…
And his mailings for money hit my e-mail a couple of time s day ….
BUT?
The guy IS invisible in the national media…..
That why Donald Trump holds a daily (messed up) presser….
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is actually the Democrat with more face time among all Democrats..And he ain’t running g for President, right?
Joe Biden doesn’t occupy a political office, isn’t a great orator and is basically stuck in his house.
It’s not much of a platform for projecting leadership during the coronavirus crisis.
That was laid bare Monday as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee gave his first coronavirus shadow briefing webcast. Biden’s been outgunned by President Donald Trump and outshone by some of the nation’s governors, among them New York’s Andrew Cuomo, whose crisis response efforts are drawing rave reviews.
The former vice president was staid and somber, even as his remarks were marred by a few minor real-time snafus and slip-ups. The lighting in his newly converted home studio was subpar. The webcast time, 10:30 a.m., came an hour earlier than Biden had originally said the day before — ensuring a relatively small audience for a candidate who hadn’t shown his face in nearly a week.
It wasn’t riveting TV. And the speech barely made a blip.
“The problem is Joe Biden doesn’t have a bully pulpit,” said George Arzt, a veteran Democratic consultant who has counted Cuomo among his clients.
Without the trappings of office, Biden has faded from the national stage as the coronavirus contagion chews through news cycle after news cycle. And without the actual authority that accompanies public office, he can’t make dramatic moves to muster the power of the government to make sweeping decisions that affect millions. It’s left him straining to remain relevant amid Trump’s daily briefings — carried live on cable television each afternoon….

Biden takes on Trump supporting Florida Governor

I’m sure CG will parrot some right wing site going after Biden’s speaking style. Yesterday it was National Review–which is now firmly pro-Trump.
Keith says
Biden should simply say the guy is full of shit. Direct, to the point, and true.
The Republicans regret they have only one grandma to give for Trump.
Scott P says
True Keith. Notice how quickly our once and future Republican wanted to switch the focus to abortion yesterday. As if a safe and legal medical procedure practiced for decades is somehow akin to playing Russian roulette with the lives of our parents and grandparents.
CG says
Scott, you must be bored at home.
I criticized the attitude expressed by Trump and others on the risky strategy. I did not “switch” any focus. I did however express a consistent Pro-Life view, one that is lacking in many others.
You don’t have to agree with me, but you ought to be appreciative enough of being an American to respect the fact that people have principled differences.

I’m working from home. And posting less than you on most days

You compared my views on a woman’s right to choose to the Lt. Governor of Texas who wants old people to die for the sake of the economy,
That’s fine. I can take it. I just wonder if you would have said the same to Former First Ladies Barbara Bush (while she were with us) and Laura Bush. Who agree with me on a woman’s right to choose.
So would you? Are myself and the Two Mrs. Bushes (sounds like a movie title) all of the same mindset as Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick?
CG says
Yeah, I’d say it to all pro-choice people. No, I don’t think they are evil, I just think they don’t get it.
Scott P says
So you think advocating that women who choose to have a safe and legal procedure should be able to do so is the same as advocating that millions of elderly people be forced to sacrifice their lives for the stock market.
Good to know where you are coming from.
CG says
You are reading too much into it and looking to start an online “fight” for some reason.
I am expressing a moral, philosophical view about the sanctity of all innocent life, one that is shared by millions and millions of people. It is a worldview that says that those who have much should not forsake the most vulnerable among us.
Someone like Lt. Governor Patrick, who would claim to be Pro-Life needs to hear it the most.
Scott P says
So far all of the politicians and conservative media who have expressed the same sentiment as Lt. Gov. Patrick are “pro-life”.
I’m thinking they don’t see any inconsistency and don’t think they need to “hear” anything from you. “Pro-Life” for them is really “pro-zygote”.
CG says
Clearly, it is not only National Review expressing these thoughts about Biden’s communication

Biden today ripped DeSantis and praised Cuomo and DeWine for their proactive measures. Show me a Republican doing that, much less a Republican Presidential candidate (oh yeah, only one now)
I agree Biden is not as visible as Cuomo. Neither is Gavin Newsome, who has arguably done a better job at “locking down” his state early if you look at the numbers.

Honestly, Biden Can’t really do much right now…He has no political office and he has no true power at the moment…the only thing he can really do is make calls to people of influence that he knows to get them making masks, ventilators, etc. If he sits on any boards of companies with the ability to make needed goods then he should be demanding that they start making the necessary products and have them put out a quiet press release…”urged by VP Biden to focus on manufacturing needed goods for America”. He can’t go out there right now, there isn’t enough oxygen in the room…there will be a time and a place for him to make his move, now isn’t the time, he still has 7 months to the election…he can’t hit the NOS tank yet…lol
