Democrats…
Tuesday, March 3rd….
14 States and a American Possession
40% of America can vote….
34% of the Democratic pledged delegates are up for grabs…
California and Texas are the biggest delegate states….
Almost every poll available is a read BEFORE the South Carolina strong win by Joe Biden…
There very well could be a ‘bounce’ of support for Biden….
In addition?
Pete Buttigieg has dropped out the race as has Tom Steyer….
Mike Bloomberg will begin to appear on primary ballots, but is not expected to win any of the primary races on Tuesday…
The expectation is that the wins will be shared between Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden, with a possible win for Amy Klobuchar getting her only primary win in Minnesota..
Super Tuesday refers to the Tuesday in a presidential election year when the largest number of states and territories hold a presidential preference primary or caucus. In 2020, Super Tuesday will be held on March 3.
Fifteen jurisdictions are holding a primary event on Super Tuesday in 2020.
The Democrats Abroad primary also begins on March 3 and concludes on March 10….
…
The first four nominating contests are over, and for all their hype, there are still lots of open questions about the race for the Democratic nomination.
Super Tuesday could clarify things more: It is the single day when the most states hold contests to pick a presidential nominee, the most voters have a chance to go to the polls, and the most delegates will be allotted to candidates. More than a third of all delegates for the Democratic National Convention are up for grabs on this one day.
And it comes at a particularly dramatic point in the race, as former vice president Joe Biden is surging to become the moderate candidate who can challenge Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

CG says
Biden should now be in better position to hit 15 % and get more delegates out of California, but the idea that he is somehow going to surpass Bernie Sanders for first there statewide is frankly nuts. Early voting and “bundling” alone will render that nearly impossible. California statewide will probably be a double digit Sanders win.
Sanders is going to net many delegates out of California and should have a sizable advantage when all is counted (and it will take California weeks perhaps to count,)
Biden has to win some other states though, and preferably at least something outside of the Southeast. If he can demonstrate that he does indeed have momentum, then the race will winnow down to him and Sanders.
If Biden still struggles tomorrow (early voting and all), then it has to be considered that Bloomberg is the only one who would have the resources to take on Sanders. The only alternative would be that Bloomberg basically turns himself into a SuperPac for Biden and does nothing but attack Sanders on Biden’s behalf. That would increase divisions in the party.
Biden’s best bet is to win as many delegates as he can the rest of the way, assume that Sanders will not have enough to win on the first ballot, and then hope for differences in electability against Trump to be apparent when people choose on the 2nd ballot.
Scott P says
Sanders polled terribly in the southeastern states and Oklahoma (don’t really consider that southeast) before South Carolina.
He was a bit better in Virginia (also not SE) but the last poll I saw there showed Biden ahead by a few.
Bloomberg *might* be able to pick off Arkansas or Oklahoma, but Biden’s resurgence may drive him to 2nd or even 3rd in some states.
I met with a Missouri state senator who is on the Klobuchar team last week. He admits their operation here is bare bones, but it is there. Buttigieg was to have a rally here this Sunday, hopefully it still goes on with him speaking with Biden–who all signs point to an endorsement this morning. Warren actually has a decent presence here as well. If she stays viable on Tuesday by picking off her home state and getting some delegates in California she could stay on a bit longer. Full disclosure–my girlfriend is a Warren volunteer.
CG says
Out of the five males still running for President in both major parties, Donald Trump is the youngest one.
CG says
I guess that means he knows how I feel here…
Scott P says
Klobuchar out–endorsing Biden
CG says
That probably means she expects Sanders is going to win MN anyway at this point.
I note that weeks ago there were supposedly negotiations for a Kamala Harris endorsement of Biden and that has yet to materialize.
Scott P says
Biden is surging since South Carolina. Bernie’s double digit lead in the national and CA polls he had after NV is melting away.
You are happy to hear that right CG?
Also Bill Kristol endorsing Biden means you could find a way to vote for him as well right?
CG says
SC was two days ago. We have no idea what will happen.
As I keep mentioning, all the Early Voting is going to produce horrible results for Biden. So many people will have wasted their votes, just to vote early.
Sanders is far ahead of Biden in money and grassroots support.
Biden has to show something tomorrow to exceed expectations.
Yes, I am resigning myself to having to vote for Biden in a primary myself and it’s not a warm feeling.
CG says
I’m for anything that stops Sanders.
I will vote for Biden in a primary if I have to, but not a general election.
Scott P says
If Bill Kristol is already supporting Biden it’s clear that if he is the nominee there will be no lane for another Evan McMullin type.
Outside of Utah Never Trumpers like Kristol were his whole constituency last time.
CG says
Work on getting the Warren deadender in your life to come around to Biden before worrying about me!
Scott P says
She’s blue no matter who.
I do find it funny that someone who is going to sit out the most important Presidential election of our lifetime considers others “deadenders”
CG says
I’m a deadender for principle, the Constitution, etc., etc.
And saying “sitting out” is a complete misnomer. I will vote and have my voice be heard. You just do not like my voice. I’m not thrilled with yours either.
Scott P says
Does Bill Kristol crossing lines and voting for Biden indicate a loss of “principle”?
CG says
He can have his principles and I can have mine. I do not criticize anyone for following their conscience.
Scott P says
As I said–there looks to be even less of a center right third party choice this year than last time with Evan McMullin.
So hard to see that if there is not such a candidate and you don’t vote it is anything but “sitting it out”.
Just calling it what it is.
CG says
I have every Constitutional right to write someone in. My franchise is equal to that of everyone else. The outcome of my state is already determined anyway.
My Name Is Jack says
Since your vote isn’t going to be counted, exactly what is your point?
CG says
My other votes downballot will be counted on the machine and someone will read my write-in vote. It will be included in a list with all the others sometime later. I know how it works.
Most importantly, G-d will know.
My Name Is Jack says
Yeah
CG says
I was trying to tell my brother how important it is to vote for one particular candidate in the States’ Attorney primary because he is the only one besides the incumbent with a path to win. I know he wants to vote for his former law professor, who is polling in single digits, but I explained why that would be a bit of a wasted vote, since he wants to get rid of Kim Foxx too.
I can also confirm that he is “not voting for Bernie” in the primary.
Keith says
This was a ridiculous comment. Kind of shows us what happens when someone spends their whole work day blogging when things in the real world change constantly.
I bet if I went through here I could find so many of this type of ridiculous comment. But, like Donald Trump, they come so fast and furiously that it isn’t possible. Or necessary since he is rarely correct.
CG says
And what’s Obama waiting for now?
Those of you who are Obama fans but fear the possibility of a Sanders nomination should begin being a bit irked.
CG says
I am predicting Bloomberg will win American Samoa tomorrow. He will buy the entire territory.
jamesb says
He, he, he….
Will Bloomberg have the same result as Steyer?
Will Bloomberg be asked to drop out and finance Joe Biden and the party?
Scott P says
Add Beto O’Roirke to the former Democratic candidates endorsing Biden tonight.
jamesb says
Thanks Scott
ya beat me to the punch.,..
Sanders mentions this tonight as his fight against the establishment of a party he actually isn’t a member off…

Palmer Report
Joe Biden’s day so far:
– Amy Klobuchar drops out
– Amy and Pete Buttigieg both endorsing Joe Biden today
– Trump is going to hate this
– Biden’s numbers climbing in Texas and California
– Biden is going to be President
– Trump is going to prison
– It’s still only 3:48pm
jamesb says
Oh and before the end of night add
Beto endorses Biden also…
I wonder how many people have called Bloomberg and Warren to try and get them to drop out and endorse Biden?
What about Obama ?

Most by an hour and a half EST….

First call’s ABC
Vermont…..Sanders
Virginia …Biden
Scott P says
I think before South Carolina Virginia was tied between Sanders and Biden.
jamesb says
Biden WILL over perform tonight…
jamesb says
Scott?
I think like Rudy?
Money Mike will miss the train….
jamesb says
There is a report Bloomberg spent $17M in Virginia….
If this keeps happening?
Seriously?
They ARE gonna pressure him to drop out and help finance Biden….
He could be offered Treasury Sec?
jamesb says
Oh Snap!
Sanders maybe in deep shit tonight…
Dave Wasserman
Exit polls show Biden clearing 15% viability in Vermont. We’ll see if that holds, but if so that’s a big blow to Sanders. He swept all 16 delegates there in ’16.
jamesb says
Joe Biden is having a Good Super Tuesday …
He just clinched North Carolina

Dave Wasserman
Sanders’s pledge to bring new voters into his movement seems fairly empty in the results we’re seeing so far. His coalition has shrunk since 2016, not grown.
jamesb says
Rachel ‘Doc’ Bicofer
IF Bloomberg ends up a non-factor tonight (& again, that’s what Biden NEEDS to have happen to stay competitive in the delegate hunt) it’ll be his team’s decision not to compete in SC that ended up killing his candidacy.
Staying out the the early contests is a bad idea-always
CG says
Bloomberg won American Samoa and Gabbard picked up a Delegate from there.
It’s going to be one interesting first ballot Roll Call vote in Milwaukee.
CG says
Also means Gabbard qualifies for any future debate. Hilarious.
Scott P says
Tulsi said she would boycott the debates.
You know-“rigged” and all.
CG says
She would get to Devil Triangle Biden with her friend Bernie if it came to that. She won’t pass it up.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
American Samoa (100% at CNN):
BLOOMBERG 175 49.9% 4 delegates
GABBARD 103 29.3% 1 delegate
SANDERS 37 10.5%
BIDEN 31 8.8%
WARREN 5 1.4%
Totals 351 99.9% 6 delegates
I don’t know if or how that 6th delegate was chosen.
jamesb says
How many delegates?
jamesb says
ok
6!

Listening to Kornacki: “In 2016, Bernie Sanders did not win a single state where the Black population was over 21%.”
But I SWEAR Bernie supporters have been telling me all day that he’s got unbelievable Black support.
The math….

Bloomberg projected to win American Samoa
CG says
Bloomberg was endorsed by a Tribal Chief.
The Chief basically saw what Clyburn did in SC and was like, “hold my kava.”

Exits in Virginia seem to have Biden beating our projections there (which were already pretty optimistic) by ~6 points, and Bloomberg underperforming them by ~6 points. Sanders and Warren pretty close to our projections.

(Hmmmmmm?
could this be the case for Biden in Texas and California ?)

Also Breaking: CG will petition the networks to see if the exit polls noted motivation of Biden voters.

Wonder if that will hold in the rest of the south?

Someone reported that FOX News is reporting on the Coronavirus.
Sheesh must be a tough night for Trumpanzees when they have to shift to the “hoax” pandemic to keep from reporting on Biden’s smashing wins
