Influenza virus
According to CDC, this year’s flu season has led to at least 17 million medical visits and 370,000 hospitalizations. CDC found that the percentage of outpatient visits for influenza-like illness increased to 5.2% in the week ending on March 7, up from 5.1% the previous week. The national baseline for those visits is 2.4%.
CDC estimated that there have been at least 22,000 deaths related to the flu so far this season.

james, you don’t seem to be willing to accept the realities we are facing. I know different people deal with difficult situations in various ways. I hope you are taking the proper precautions.

The whole…. “well what about the regular flu?” is a Trump defender talking point from like 4 weeks ago.
This is a lot more contagious and deadly. What is being “softpedaled” are the numbers out of China (and perhaps other countries like Russia) where it is likely that many more have died than we will ever know about.
CG says
The economy will survive in the long-run. People are and will suffer economically in the short-term but there are things being done to try to help alleviate things as much as possible.
Economic worries are not as significant for people than matters of life and death.
It’s really hard to look past one day at a time right now. Maybe in May or June we can go back to thinking longer term, but for now, we should consider anyday where we ourselves or a family member does not have symptoms to be a successful day.

I agree with all three of the above posts.

James have you become a Republican? The only people I see saying “what about the regular flu” are conservative Republicans.
