If he was to get the nomination from the Democrats ?
There would little doubt the figure would be well OVER a cool Billion….
He has already spent 10 times the amount any other Democrat has spent…
He is using his OWN money….
He IS worth tens of billions….
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s contribution to his presidential run neared the half-billion-dollar mark by the start of this month, as he plowed gargantuan sums into advertising and hired hundreds of staffers, new campaign finance filings show.
The billionaire, who is self-funding his campaign, had contributed $463.8 million to his campaign as of the end of last month, a new Federal Election Commission filing shows. The majority of that amount has been spent on television, radio and digital advertising, and has propelled Mr. Bloomberg into the top tier of candidates in national polls.
The latest filing shows $409 million of that total went to pay bills between late November and the end of January—before Mr. Bloomberg made the decision to ramp up his ad spending.
The campaign is pouring resources into the 14 states that will vote on March 3, the so-called Super Tuesday, where more than one-third of Democratic delegates will be awarded.
By the end of January, the campaign, which had 1,000 staffers employed, had paid $9.1 million in payroll and nearly $2 million in corporate housing for its staffers. It also had opened 105 offices across the country, after reporting only eight at the end of December.
The campaign now has more than 2,400 staffers.
Mr. Bloomberg’s campaign also spent $7.4 million on polling since launching his presidential bid and about $2 million on transportation, including charter flights and use of his company’s plane….

For just 10 million, I could have greatly improved his debate performance last night.

No, I did not write this:

Democratic Socialist Dave says
written by an independent candidate in the 2018 election.
On the one hand, democratic socialists — long after almost all of them had started working within rather than against the Democratic Party — still believe that, as a matter of fundamental fairness and democratic theory, the various barriers to third parties and independents should be greatly lowered or else eliminated.
(However, this will raise the always-thorny question of keeping first past the post voting rather than some form of preferential and/or proportional voting; a question already answered after a fashion by Louisiana, California and other non-party jungle primaries.)
On the other hand, it’s wishful conservative thinking to imagine that a Bloomberg-Romney or Romney-Bloomberg ticket is anywhere near the centre of American politics or demographics. You wouldn’t say the same thing about, say, an Amy Klobuchar-Joe Biden ticket.
CG says
Klobcuhar-Biden would be well to the left of the American people.
Romney-Bloomberg would be two people with fundamental differences, at least on domestic matters, and thus would not make much sense.

To be blunt James ,in my view?
If Bloomberg wants to spend his billions to get the likes of Donald Trump out of the White House?
Write all the snarky stuff you want….

Jack?
I have said here that absent Joe Biden I would hold my nose and cast a ballot for Money Mike….
CG says
What about Bernie (and his three houses) vs. Trump and his two?
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Maybe my phrasing wasn’t clear enough, but I meant that no one would call a Klobuchar-Biden ticket anywhere near the dead centre of current American politics, any more than one could claim the same about a Romney-Bloomberg or even a Bloomberg-Romney one.
Mitt Romney, like Bill Weld and Charlie Baker, but not Paul Cellucci, governed Massachusetts from the centre (e.g. RomneyCare), but he’s probably found a truer voice for his own beliefs as an independent-minded Utah Republican.

I agree

Klobuchar isn’t gonna make the train….

She’ll take an Uber and threaten the driver into speeding.

Anyone who thinks the Mitt Romney is crazy enough to think about running with a Democrat needs to have their head examined…
CG says
Abe Lincoln did it at a time of national peril.
Of course, that Democrat then got impeached.
Scott P says
Romney isn’t going to be Bloomberg’s VP any more than John Kasich is going to run as the Democratic Party endorsed Independent.
Just stop.
CG says
The article was about Bloomberg being Romney’s running-mate actually (far preferable) but I never said that was going to happen. I even said it didn’t make sense since they are so different on economic issues.
But if we get to a 15th ballot or so in Milwaukee and Oprah and Tom Hanks and The Rock and everyone else has turned it down, and they turn to Mitt, he will have to find someone. Perhaps Joe Walsh.
jamesb says
We KNIOW CG….
jamesb says
Should Utah Sen. Mitt Romney attempt another shot at the White House — but this time on the independent ticket, with former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg as his running mate?
The hypothetical Romney-Bloomberg ticket would give millions and millions of independent and moderate Democratic and Republican voters stuck in the middle a solid choice for president, which doesn’t exist now between democratic-socialist Bernie Sanders and current White House occupant and Twitter-flamethrower….
Scott P says
Actually Joe Walsh said that although he will be supporting the Democratic nominee he has no input on who should be. His answer was basically–why should I? I’m not a Democrat
CG says
He has decided he is, at least temporarily. I hope he joins me in taking a Democrat ballot in Illinois and voting for the least odious option (and the best chance to beat Trump.)

Look how much better Bloomberg does in FL against Trump than anyone else. These are your “moderate” Jews causing the difference. If Trump can’t win FL, it’s game over.
