The numbers are narrowing….
But Joe Biden seems on his way to getting his first primary win in 4 days….
A new Winthrop poll in South Carolina finds Joe Biden leading the Democratic primary race with 24%, followed by Bernie Sanders at 19%, Tom Steyer at 15%, Pete Buttigieg at 7%, Elizabeth Warren at 6% and Amy Klobuchar at 4%.
Said pollster Scott Huffmon: “Flames seem to be licking through the cracks in Biden’s firewall. His support has dropped by double digits since the late September… Bernie Sanders, now second behind Biden, has more than doubled his support, both overall and among African American voters. With roughly one-fifth of voters remaining undecided, election day could hold some surprises.”….
RCP California average....2/20/2020
Biden….24.5
Sanders…20.8
Steyer…15.5

but wait, Weld is not on the ballot…. oh well.
My Name Is Jack says
The NBC News poll shows that nationally Sanders level of support among Black voters now equals Biden.
So much for that post of yours of a few days ago that Sanders has a “problem” with Black voters.
jamesb says
Jack?
Do YOU think Sanders will get more votes in SC then Biden?
jamesb says
Remember how Hillary thought she’d beat Obama there?
How Sanders under performed there against Hillary?
I could be wrong
But my guess is that Biden gets the win in SC from those who actually vote…
I could be wrong…
But i think Biden comes in second tomorrow a bit closer then the polls indicate…
My Name Is Jack says
If I’m not wrong, you predicted Biden would come in second in Iowa and New Hampshire?
Why do you want t continually jinx him?
Scott P says
Remember that for all of CG’s ribbing of James predictions rosy Biden predictions that CG himself predicted Warren would be the nominee.
In this crazy parry season both Biden and Warren could still wind up as the nominee. If it is the latter CG will crow again that be is “rarely wrong
CG says
I never predicted that. I just said she looked like the front-runner, a while back.
Turns out, Democrats are even crazier than I thought and picked Bernie over her. I always said that one of them would block the other, but it looks like he may take it regardless.
If not for Bernie in the race, Warren would be easily ahead.
Scott P says
Not crazyvenoigh to nominate a racist misogynist Russian tool like the Republicans did.
CG says
Crazy is crazy.
The crazy guy Republicans picked won. Will Democrats be able to say the same?
CG says
And I am unwilling to deny that Sanders is not a post-Soviet tool. There is a long trail.
I will give him a pass for writing in the 1970s that women fantasize about being raped.
jamesb says
I don’t think Bernie Sanders is a Russian asset….
I wouldn’t say THAT about Donald Trump…
I AM ALREADY hearing people equate socialist’s with communists ….
Russia wants an unemcomberted Donald Trump to pull the puppet strings on…
CG says
Had the Soviet Union not collapsed however…
My Name Is Jack says
Why would a self described “Socialist” like Sanders be a”tool” of the ultimate crony capitalist country in the world,Russia?
Now Trump?
Like he said he and Putin will get along well together.
Republicans say?Great!
jamesb says
Agreed Jack….
My Name Is Jack says
Yeah but it did.
There’s money to be made there now!
It’s the capitalist wild Wild West.
And Trump is a”cowboy!”
Yiheeee!!!!
CG says
Putin wants to see the U.S. weakened. Clearly, there is reason to believe Sanders would do so.
Both Putin and Sanders seem to miss the Soviet Union
CG says
Putin probably thinks Sanders can’t get nominated (and wants Sanders people to think it was stolen from them), but the best result for Putin would easily be for Sanders to win and for Trump to be running around America saying he is the “True President” who had a country stolen from him.
My Name Is Jack says
No I don’t think Putin misses the Soviet Union as aCommunist state.
He misses the Soviet Empire .He pictures himself as a modern day Tsar.
He also feigns religiosity(ala Trump) and has almost single handedly reestablished the Russian Orthodox Church as a major force on Russian society.A total repudiation of Communist atheism.
Putin is about making money forhimself and his cronies.Trump?More for himself.
As for “weakening” the United States.Beside the Republican obsession that spending more on the military is the definition of “strength,” I can’t think of anybody who has done more to dap the strength of this country than Donald Trump, the psychopath (your description).
Finally, Interligence sources are saying that the Tussians are already help Trump sin reelection.
Wonder why?
Then again, maybe it’s all the “deep state?”
My Name Is Jack says
Oh Trumps gonna say that anyway if he’s defeated.
Not only him but almost the entire Republican Party will.
jamesb says
Hey?.,..the Democrats COULD OUTDO the GOPer’s and pick the perfect guy to cement the Republican crazy guy ….
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Adolf Hitler once told his aides that the kind of local men he wanted to lead puppet régimes was not necessarily the most Germanophile, the most competent or the most popular, but one who knew that the minute he failed to control his population, he would be hung from the nearest lamp-post. (Cf. Nicolás Maduro)
While V. Putin would no doubt be very pleased if an eager Russophile (perhaps Tulsi Gabbard or Dana Rohrbacher) became President, what he’d prefer even more would be a widely-hated one easily persuaded by hints of blackmail.
While the realism (and even the idealism) of Bernie Sanders’ foreign and national-security policies can certainly be debated in good faith, he couldn’t (even if so motivated) hold a candle to Donald Trump’s blind, wholesale, blowtorch destruction of every U.S. alliance, of almost every foreign treaty and of a vast chunk of those non-Russophiles who know something about external affairs.
CG says
If Putin wants to roll into Ukraine and other places in the former USSR, is President Bernie Sanders going to stop him?
jamesb says
on Sanders and the Ukraine?
NOPE!
Same as Trump if the Pentagon can’t change things up like they have against Trump abandoning the Middle Rast
CG says
Even if you want to point out the different reasons, they both still miss it.
I will side with Ronald Reagan who said the Soviet Union deserved to be in the “ash heap of history.”
My Name Is Jack says
Will DONALD Trump?
You need to find others reasons to bash Bernie.(there are plenty) He ain’t my cup
of tea either as I’ve made known here.
ButRussia?
He’s certainly no worse than Trump.
CG says
I think Trump would be more likely to approve the actions to deter Russian aggression than Sanders for sure.
Trump would speak publicly and give mixed messages though because he’s sort of an idiot.
Sanders does not seem to think there should be an American troop stationed anywhere in the world and that we should drastically reduce our military budget in order to pay for free crap for the masses.
CG says
The other candidates are pointing out the very visible evidence of “Bernie Bros” and their online harassment and general ugliness against anyone they see as being against them.
Nobody is claiming that Sanders himself is responsible but these people are doing these sort of things in his name.
He has recently started suggesting they are not his supporters at all but perhaps “Russian Bots.” Pretty unlikely. He had a surrogate yesterday ask if anyone could actually point to an example of a Sanders supporter doing anything bad…
Steve Scalise replied he could think of an example…
Scott P says
“I will side with Ronald Reagan” uh, he’s fuckin dead!
CG says
So is Jesus, but would you attack Christians for it?
I am citing Reagan’s historical reference in a civic way of course, just like many people like to quote Washington, Lincoln, FDR, JFK, MLK, and many others who are dead (or even “f’in dead”), but not forgotten.
My Name Is Jack says
Why is it that every time I question your incessant cheerleading for Biden you reply with that redundant question?
As I have previously stated,as of today, Biden probably still has a narrow lead.Would it surprise me if he lost? No.Would it surprise me if he won a major victory?Yes.
How many more times are you going to ask this?
jamesb says
Jack?
Probably until the Democratic VOTERS speak THEIR minds….
And of course he COULD LOSE….
But I’m fucking annoyed at the idea that after one small assed state narrow win the damn pundits have been trying to sell Sanders as the second coming when the majority of Democrats ain’t even polling for him…
My Name Is Jack says
You are annoyed that your silly cheerleading is being called for what it is.
Sanders has a host of Black supporters in S.C.
The fact that Biden who,as I’ve pointed out ,has cultivated Black support for fifty years has quite obviously lost a significant portion of it here is more the story than Sanders having a so called “problem.”
Even a “dont confuse me with the facts” guy like you ought to be able to understand that for Biden to go from a twenty to thirty point lead (when you were claiming that he “owns” SC),to a five point or so lead a week out ,in a state where Blacks will comprise about 70% of the primary vote, that his Black support is significantly eroding .
CG says
james, what place will Biden have to come in Nevada in order to be in position to come in 2nd in South Carolina?
jamesb says
Biden polls ahead of Biden in South Carolina…
This U know..
NOBODY is predicting Sanders beats Biden there …
We’ll see….
Sanders HAS u ser performed so far in both contests…
I WILL continue to favor Biden here just like the media has Sanders as the flavor of the last few weeks….
i will also remind those here that Biden still polls as the best against Trump…
And that a split majority of Democrats have voted for someone else besides Bernie Sanders…
Yes….
As has been pointed out….
The Majority of the Democratic vote in the South is black folks…
Sanders is ahead in the younger vote and. Biden in the older..
The results will depend on how much of each group actually votes in the primary contests…
CG….
I have put out that Biden needs strong second place or a pull out of his ass win in Nevada…
CG says
As of today, the betting odds are now that Sanders will win SC.
james can win money if this is wrong and especially if james thinks Biden can still win the nomination. Buy now while you can!
jamesb says
My point EXACTLTY….
Politico
Down-ballot Republicans are watching with glee as Bernie Sanders gains steam
jamesb says
if the Nevada caucus vote is mostly young?
Bernie WILL do very well
Democratic Socialist Dave says
The once-leading establishment Democratic primary candidate failed to win the party’s expected nomination (to my very imperfect recollection) in 1960, 1972, 1976, 1988, 1992 and 2008.
The only non-incumbent early-favorite Establishment nomination winners that I can remember are Hubert Humphrey (1968 but not 1960 or 1972), Walter Mondale (1984), Al Gore (2000) and Hillary Clinton II (2016 but not 2008).
Although two of them won the national popular vote in November, none of them became President.
I positively welcome any corrections or clarifications.
¶ Now, unlike James, I have no idea if Joe Biden will win the Dem. nomination (he might very well be, and be seen, as the best opponent of Donald Trump) so none of this imperfect history implies, let alone proves, what will happen in the convention or in November.
But it’s hardly uncommon for the Sure Thing to turn out otherwise.
My Name Is Jack says
im not sure there was a”leading establishment candidate “ in 1988 and 1992.
I guess one could argue that Gary Hart was the “leading” candidate ,but the “establishment “ never really cared for him.Anyway he quickly imploded.
Then, of course, there was Mario Cuomo who played “hamlet “ in both 88 and 92.
jamesb says
He, he, he
Ah Jack?
The poll u are takin about had LESS them 150 respondents and a MOE of +8 %!
Give me a Break on this Bull Shit!
CG says
Whoa, shots fired.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Well, CG knows which state heard the first shots of the War for Southern Independence.
CG says
Donald Trump is pining for the return of “Gone With the Wind” to the big screen.
My Name Is Jack says
I was down on the battery last week looking out in the harbor at Fort Sumter.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Since the President (according to Esquire) was displeased by Parasite’s Oscar, maybe he could follow President Wilson’s example and have a special D.W.Griffith/Thos. Dixon restoration-revival exhibition on the White House’s big screen of Birth of a Nation, with misguided special invitations to Kanye West, Don King, Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, J.C. Watts and Will Hurd.
After ecstatic reviews by those who saw it at the White House, Donald Trump could then show it at one of his
ParteitagenPeople’s Rallies (broadcast to real Americans via YouTube), later asserting that there were good people on both sides of the weeklong riot that ensues. My Name Is Jack says
The “bullshit” was your running a post claiming ,with no evidence, that Sanders had a “problem” with Black voters.
Black voters have been the backbone of Bidens campaign.
If Sanders is anywhere near him among Black voters ,which it now appears he is ?
Then this is just another example of your cheerleading.
CG says
According to the Washington Post, U.S. Intelligence has also determined that Russia is trying to assist Sanders’ campaign. Putin is hedging his bets as I anticipated.
Sanders is denouncing the assistance, which is better than Trump has done.
Scott P says
Yeah, and quoting Jesus Christ or MLK in reference to Putin’s clear interference in our elections to benefit Donald Trump while he and Republicans completely shrug it off would be a distraction as well.
CG says
I might not be following. Perhaps Happy Hour has started?
What’s wrong with quoting dead people? Is Harry Truman’s “Buck Stops Here” now out of bounds?
Reagan has nothing to do with Russian interference in 2016 or 2020, both of which had Russians working to help *both* Trump and Sanders.
But Reagan did speak about the Soviet Union and he turned out to be correct in his prediction of what would happen to them.
